- hiphopjon, on 03/23/2008, -1/+14A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
a militia being:civilians trained as soldiers but not part of the regular army, organized armed forces of an area subject to a call to arms in an emergency.
civilians are allowed to have guns for two purposes, on: to protect them selfs, and to: to protect the freedom of this contry
The USA is invasion proof as long as citizens are allowed to bear arms freely- alphgeek, on 03/23/2008, -4/+4I think you have watched "Red Dawn" once too often mate. Who are you expecting to invade? The Canadians?
PS I think the founding fathers had better spelling.- Lixnig, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1At this point, it seems the most likely candidate for an invasion would be our own military.
- sungoddess808, on 03/23/2008, -0/+5Well said, and forget about the spelling or typos. Some of us aren't that anal.
This is a great article and we should always have the right to protect ourselves. I wish I had just one firearm to protect myself in this place.

- wookee88, on 03/23/2008, -9/+3i think the right to bear arms has done the US more harm than good so far
- RuffRidr, on 03/23/2008, -0/+9I think the citizens from these news stories would disagree with you, along with thousands of other citizens every year.

- semigloss, on 03/23/2008, -11/+3The idea that my family -- which includes 3 young children -- would be safer with a gun in the house is too ludicrous to even spend much time refuting. It's like saying we'd be safer with a bear in the house.
- Dimensio, on 03/23/2008, -0/+10Declaring that a position is "too ludicrous" to refute is not a logical substitute for providing evidence in support of your claims. Your comparison of firearms to ursines is also irrational and illogical.
- BlackBob, on 03/25/2008, -0/+3Mr. Spock, is that you?
- Lixnig, on 03/24/2008, -0/+3People use dogs to defend their houses all the time. It is conceivable that a bear could be used for home defense if you know how to use it properly. You're right, though. Having a gun in your house will not make you safer. Having a gun in your hand ready to defend yourself and your family from the ***** breaking into your house at 2 a.m. makes you safer.
