Some of the military equipment whose origins lie at Area 51 include the U-2 spy plane, SR-71 Blackbird, and F-117 Nighthawk. At present, the government is known to use this base to test and develop the next generation replacements for the SR-71 and F-117.
What more do you need to know? You want the details of their work to be public so that other nations can obtain the same military capabilities? The F-117 was originally designed in the late 1970s, even though it wasn't unveiled until a decade later. During the first Gulf War, when we were fighting off the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, would you have preferred that the Iraqis had advanced knowledge of stealth technologies so that they could defeat our bombing campaign? You guys are pretty *****' incredible.
Oh, and for the idiots in the room: There are no ***** aliens or extra-terrestrial UFOs at Area 51. The government does not have any alien bodies. There's evidence that the *real* black projects have been moved to lesser-known installations, such as Dugway Proving Ground. Classified stuff still goes on at 51, to be sure, but it is a great way to distract people from other sites. Better to have everyone looking at 1 as opposed to 4 or 5...

UFOs DO exist. Because anything flying in the sky that isn't identified is an "Unidentified Flying Object".
I really dislike the fact that most people can't separate UFOs from aliens. There are actually UFO-researchers whose main purpose is to identify or explain common people's sightings.

You do know that Dell bought Alien last year, right? :-) - Majician, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7As a Vegas native, I was privy to some of what went on out there because, (A) I was friends with the wife of a test pilot for Area 51 and (B) One of my friends is a janitor out on base.
Wife told me that although he couldn't get into specifics, (Could be court-marshaled for spilling the beans) they worked on UAV, Stealth Tech, Ejection seats, Missle testing, New aircraft technology. She said when she married said pilot that the Air Force came out and did a background check on her and had her sign the same waivers as his husband had. They could come pick her up at any time and put her to a polygraph if they had any suspicions.
Janitor friend really didn't see much as when your working in a building with no windows, well, there's not much to look at. When hired to work for Area 51, you spend your first six months being BUSED to the location. After you hit your 6 month mark, then you're allowed to ride the "Red Stripe." That happens to be a commercial Boeing 737 that you see taking off and landing every now and then DAILY at Mccaran. Sorry, But I think the whole UFO thing is bogus. The "swimming" effect is an artifact of crappy video equipment trained on a bunch of objects all of which are moving in straight lines. There are a bunch of these guys who "want to believe" in government jobs. Belief is a matter of faith and is essentially a replacement for the sighting of angels / benevolent spirits. It just so happens that in this day and age, you can find a bunch of people who want to believe in aliens, but angels are passe. Honestly, I prefer the angels and their divine visions to the bad science of "these nice aliens will give us amazing technology that violates the conservation of energy."
And come on guys, if these aliens had this tech, do you think they would just give it to us or pwn us with it? Even Google Earth has very high resolution images of the place.. I guarantee that there's a way more secret base somewhere in this country, just because of how much we hear about Area-51. Remember: We hollowed out mountains to build bases that could withstand a nuke. And that was 50 years ago.

That's how people actually working in these industries feel about alien conspiracy nuts.
