- IShouldBeWorkin, on 10/11/2007, -6/+146That intersection forces some pretty serious life choices...I hope its a long red to let you decide
- Jazzillion, on 10/11/2007, -3/+123"I'm lost"
"Where are you?"
"Church and Gay"
"Yeah, keep going until Priestscock turns into Childs Avenue." - wildfire, on 10/11/2007, -0/+116Why? I'm going straight.
- Rsardinia, on 10/11/2007, -4/+119And all the gay clergy members stand at the intersection confused on what to do next.
- joelsmif, on 10/11/2007, -3/+89Being from Nashville I have seen this area before. An interesting side note to this picture is that the gay clubs and Hustler store are on Church street and there are churches are on Gay street. Now that is some irony.
- Michypoo, on 10/11/2007, -7/+54Instead of turning left or right, can't you just go straight?
Aha.

Go Nashville. - Luthor, on 10/11/2007, -2/+26My personal favorite is and always will be:
Exit 69, Big Beaver Road...Detroit Mi. - CancerBomb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23Ironically, in my city, there's a church on Darwin St.
- nreynolds, on 10/11/2007, -5/+22Everyone always thinks they're so great for saying that things aren't ironic, but guess the ***** what? Definition of irony:
- an outcome of events contrary to what was, or might have been, expected.
- an objectively or humorously sardonic utterance, disposition, quality, etc.
- the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning
I'm pretty sure these two streets didn't intentionally set this up, so it's pretty much irony. - AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -4/+19I find it ironic most people don't know what the word irony means.
- Philodox, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17In Toronto those both mean the same thing.
- scinju, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14Actually, irony is like rain on your wedding day
A free ride when you've already paid
The good advice that you just didn't take - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13That is where the war will be fought!
- stormgren, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13We don't mod things here, we digg them. What do you think this is, slashdot? :)
- GiggleStick, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Wouldn't that be a marriage counselor getting divorced. Your example is more like a gas station attendant buying gas.
- wildfire, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12Dammit, I just got rear-ended trying to go straight.
- BaoUnit, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11To the left, to the left
- d3faultnet, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8I was skeptical, but now I'm a believer

XKCD is awesome. - sigmaman2, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Which street does Ted Haggert live on?
- HanSolo69, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Oh, I get it. This picture must be from Bizzaro world where coincidence and irony are switched. There seem to be a lot of those around these days.
- mwosh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5"There, thats the last of the guns. We're better off without them, why would we ever need guns in New Quahog?"
"AAAAHHHhhhhh"
"Hey Jim, you remember the other day when you asked what the meaning of irony wa........AHHHHH" - unloud, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4This isn't slashdot?
***** - Xenogis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4that's funnier than this stupid picture.
- dshah, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4There are total six intersections including Church and Gay St.
Link to Google Maps : http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=church+and+gay+st&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=30.682067,59.765625&ie=UTF8&z=4&om=1 - nukethewhales, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Actually thats not ironic either. You making a mistake when pointing other people's mistakes now thats irony.
- binorgog, on 08/07/2008, -0/+3@arashinogarou it's a shame people are digging you down. You are spot on in your comments.
- cvweiss, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3And that's just a few miles from me. In college I dated a girl from the Muskegon, MI area and brought her down to Metro Detroit for a weekend visit with the family. Her jaw dropped when she saw the road for Exit 69 - classic moment!
- melonhedd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Not irony.
- arashinogarou, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5The ones that are in every church of every denomination in this country. Yes, that's pulled completely out of my ass (wink wink nudge nudge) but it's probably close to the truth. Just because christians don't believe in gays doesn't mean gays don't believe in god or christ. I'm not going to go into the whole "god hates fags" line of bs, but suffice to say that a true christian (one who believes in tolerance and kindness) wouldn't mind if gays showed up at church one sunday morning.
- trogdoor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I think he lives at the intersection of deception and denial actually.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Reasonable? Totally.. sin is awesome!
- planetnebular, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You must be confused with the homeless people by the Cumberland which is where a lot of them reside. Nearly all of the gay bars in Nashville are actually on Church Street as well as Hustler Hollywood.
- tedfa, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Yeah, this is true, and quite ironic.
- fintheman, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5This is like the first thing Nashville has had on digg
Whats next, something in my town Franklin? - davidjunit, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Apparently gays have actually taken up Gay Street as a hangout. When I was in Nashville one day I drove by Gay Street, this part of the street was going along the Cumberland River. I first saw the street name and then happened to look over to where quite a few fruity-looking fellows were hanging out around a tree that was providing shade so I'd say that the photo is quite accurate.
- avatar28, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Hehe. I've always thought it was hilarious that Gay St and Church St meet. Just never thought about taking a picture of it though.
- duggtodeath, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Well. at least they are connecting, this could open a ground-breaking dialogue!
- x00x, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1There's no irony here at all. Don't you notice how Gay and Church Streets go off in diametrically opposite directions, one to the left, the other to the right, the way the Church, Gay communities do in real life?
- drivers99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It's like Six Feet Under tv series compressed into 4 words or less. (ok maybe just one character's story line)
- Tweets, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Be careful about being rear ended at this intersection.
- digg6554321, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Correct. Not irony. Buried.
- archlich, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irony
Actually, irony is like rain on your wedding day.
^that's coincidental, or bad luck, not ironic. If you cancel your wedding in the morning because of bad storms, but the storms only last 20 minutes. That would be ironic.
A free ride when you've already paid.
^that could be ironic, depending on the context. If a person buys a new car a day before the police tell him his car that was stolen 31 years ago reappears, fully restored and returned to him.
The good advice that you just didn't take.
^if you don't follow good advice, then one would assume that good events wont happen. Irony would be exactly the opposite, expecting one thing but receiving another. Like two friends are on a bridge, one advises the other to not go parachuting off of it. The friend ignores the good advice. Soon after the the parachute deploys, the bridge collapses killing everyone including the friend that had tried to make him not jump.
Feh, this post was entirely too long. Or, you were just being sarcastic and I completely missed the point. - Nereus90, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You were just waiting for an article to pop up that you could use that joke on weren't you? You should have waited longer.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Satan place is just around the corner.....
- xtremesniper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Heh, in Toronto Church St. happens to be the one most populated by the gay community.
- datastorageguy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1http://duggmirror.com
