- floridiot2, on 02/11/2008, -8/+84Your shipment of fail has arrived.
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -11/+83The real question is, if someone other than evernerve submitted this picture, would it have ever been made popular? (The answer: no!). Editor preferences defeat democracy on Digg.
- aaaleman, on 02/11/2008, -1/+37Agreed. Don't get me wrong... I still love Digg. But since it's front page content is the direct result of the work of a handful of people, it has become no different than any other edited magazine.
There's very little about meaningful world news. Anything that is submitted to the site that is political in nature, all pertains to a particular ideology.
Every day, you get more of the same kind of content. There is no larger Digg community, only the output of 50 or less so-called power users. Digg is now a bit like a slapdash variety/funny bits/amusing story e-zine.
Digg was an interesting experiment. It failed to become what it was originally intended to be. - Gugel, on 02/11/2008, -1/+36Barrel Roll. Not always the best idea.
- h3lx, on 02/11/2008, -1/+27Never book your shipment on the Failboat Express.
- antongranik, on 02/11/2008, -1/+27Is this the same? http://pics.livejournal.com/drugoi/pic/00da95x1.jp ...
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -1/+23And you're spelling it wrong.
- Godlesswanderer, on 02/11/2008, -1/+21I think that's the ferry that ran aground just off Blackpool last week.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/7221 ... - andrewcsayer, on 02/11/2008, -2/+21It is clearly an injured deceptacon
- dsully215, on 02/11/2008, -2/+20The cargo says "Surefreight".
- EagleRock, on 02/11/2008, -1/+15Give this 2 hours...you'll see yet another "Failboat" pic complete with bolded white text FTW.
- aaaleman, on 02/11/2008, -0/+12Guess you must be new to Digg. What Ryodoan said is true. You'll notice, in time. See:
mr. babyman
msaleem
zaibatsu
adrian67
supernova17
cosmikdebris
The problem with these ***** is that their stories are not popular because of the inherent interest-factor or quality of the story, but because they have friends lists where they all digg each others stories automatically. These people on their friends list do not read most of the ***** they automatically digg. It's like a big ***** circle jerk.
Oh, you'll see the super diggers proclaiming they are popular in their community because of the quality material they submit, but that's just them tooting their own horns.
Usually you'll see two or three of their stories dugg up simultaneously, with a similar number of diggs. For example, there will be a Mr. Babyman submission, followed by two other submissions, then *another* Mr. Babyman submission.
The Digg staff has tried to come up with ways to thwart this annoying practice, even changing the front page algorithm and increasing the number of diggs necessary to make something popular. Unfortunately none of this has yet to work.
These people killed Digg. It used to be much different and interesting when the site started out. - ryodoan, on 02/11/2008, -3/+15You didnt know that Digg has Super Users that act as editors?
- edwartica, on 02/11/2008, -0/+10What a coincidence, I buried your comment because it wasted my time!
- rye425, on 02/11/2008, -2/+12Buried as inaccurate....Even ships need to rest.
- bs0l, on 02/11/2008, -0/+9Thanks, antongranik. In case anyone is just using CTRL + F to find "mirror" like I was, well there you go.
- Izbitzer, on 02/11/2008, -1/+10Wow, that site went down faster than a sinking ship with a huge hole in it...
- rye425, on 02/11/2008, -1/+10Ship is called Riverdance - mirror
http://i31.tinypic.com/2iqd3wz.jpg - supremebeing18, on 02/11/2008, -0/+9Good thing you apologized.
- BaxterK, on 02/11/2008, -2/+10Not sure I would want to stand underneath those tractor trailers strapped onto the deck.
- Henko, on 02/11/2008, -11/+18Click the picture for more images (some unrelated). There is some fantastic photography skill behind that camera. Incredible!
- Iamironman, on 02/12/2008, -0/+7you are a shipment of fail
- 1773nium, on 02/11/2008, -2/+8With a name like whitezombie420 I'm trying to imagine what would be worth your time.
- piesforyou, on 02/12/2008, -0/+6In nature, images don't exist at all. It's just a ***** load of light bouncing around all over the place. So who cares how that light was detected and melded together into a form we can interpret?
- OpticalLiam, on 02/11/2008, -0/+6Well, I submitted a similar image and accompanying news story the day this happened - safe to say nobody cared then...

http://tinyurl.com/35ekpo - piesforyou, on 02/11/2008, -0/+5No, it adds that you can view extra images if you want to.
- vibrokatana, on 02/11/2008, -1/+6That's what she said.
- rye425, on 02/11/2008, -0/+5cool, you use google too? I do the same for "naked girls" but shipwrecks cool too
- vjeko, on 02/11/2008, -1/+5Mirror!
- caferace, on 02/11/2008, -0/+4I blame Michael Flatley.
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -0/+4just google "shipwreck" and you get a ***** load of these
- Blazers, on 02/11/2008, -1/+5Its either Aquaman's seceret lair, or a base for Somalian Pirates to call home.
- jezsik, on 02/11/2008, -1/+5True, but it's pretty close to the way our eyes/brain interpret the scene. I'm fascinated by the technique.
- darkstar07, on 02/11/2008, -1/+5First thing I thought was it looks kinda like the Borealis ship from Half Life 2.
- D3koy, on 02/11/2008, -2/+6In related news: Christmas canceled this year
- inn0, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3oh man, this would be great for one of those fake workplace motivational posters
- azbmr, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3"Don't get me wrong... I still love Digg."
"Digg is now a bit like a slapdash variety/funny bits/amusing story e-zine."
"It failed to become what it was originally intended to be."
Where does he say that dislikes digg? - jmlambe, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3looks like an HDR image
- sharkd, on 02/11/2008, -1/+4It looks fake because the photographer used Photoshop's HDR function to combine three different exposures to juxtapose shadow and highlight in a manner that doesn't exist in nature.
- piesforyou, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3only in THIS universe.
- gr4yscale, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3It's not the same image.
- woohhaa, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3I think the ship was the USS Scuttles.
- aaabatteries, on 02/11/2008, -1/+4this needs a big caption with FAIL written on it.
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -1/+4Was the web server on said cargo ship?
- sporg, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3Well then here is your pink slip and have a nice walk home.
- KingGorilla, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2All work and no play makes jack a dull fail?
- DavidGX, on 02/12/2008, -0/+2Well if surefreight gettin there now! LOLOLOLOLOL.... screw you guys I'm sick.
- Anfidurl, on 02/11/2008, -0/+2Nah. When the Queen Elizabeth was used in the foundation of the Hong Kong International Airport, Q Branch needed a new home away from home.
