- gregnorth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31Hing Kong is a rival city of Hong Kong. They're high schools play each other in the homecoming game every year. Go Hing Kong Rockets!
- WarpFox, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32So, are there fireworks there every night, or what?
- pirana0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19"I wish some of our cities looked like Hing Kong at night."
- shadus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18Some very stunning sunsets. Nice view over the city too.
- omatsei, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Definitely worth a digg from me. It'd be a double-digg if there were high-res versions of them, like 2560x1920 (I'll settle for 1600x1200)...
- andrewcod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9You know, for all the bad stuff people say about pollution - it still gives some pretty great sunsets!
(I should know...I live there:-)) - diulei, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Rivals? Try beats, with the exception of maybe NYC if you're talking about a modern, skyscraper filled looked (not a classic look like Rome or Paris).
- thumbup, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Yes I am sure you NEED them.
- theoverlord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6While Hong Kong does have some gorgeous days like that, the smog is getting worse here. Those beautiful sunsets are courtesy of all the junk in the air. This last week has been downright ugly, much like the one sepia photo where you can't see anything. But over Christmas we had a good 2 weeks that were stunningly gorgeous. I just hope that the SAR gov't gets off its ass and steps up its environmental policies before those days go away entirely and the city looks like China.
But yes, Hong Kong is an awesome city (and my adopted home). - diulei, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"Beats" as exactly how I explained - in terms of a modern, skyscraper and lights filled downtown. Very few cities in the world have a skyline like that of HK. NYC, for one.
- pagemap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I was in Hong Kong over new years, and took some shots of the harbor at night. I also took some shots from Avenue of Stars during the fireworks show. Check them out:

HK at night
http://www.flickr.com/photos/through_brians_eye/sets/72157594459630555/ - rajulkabir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hong Kong's skyline, especially viewed from Kowloon or down from Victoria Peak, is more impressive than any western city I've seen (and I've more or less seen them all). The vantage used for the photos in this article is nowhere near optimal.
It's also not a barren rock, though, and never was. It's a very lush place, where plants grow anywhere that doesn't get cleaned, walked on, or driven on. Some areas are highly built, but there are also many green areas, with large parks scattered all over. - tont0r, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9"I wish some of our cities looked like Hing Kong at night."
I wish our cities looked like an imaginary place like Hing Kong too. - heptahedron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hong Kong is a great city. It's like the skyscrapers of New York, the neon of Las Vegas, and the hills of San Francisco rolled into one (there's one building that has "ground floor" entrances on level 2 and level 17). And if you want to get "out of the city," then a 15 min trip to Victoria Peak will get you wonderful views of the city on one side and park/forests on the other.
- Fascist, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9It rivals many Western cities. It's amazing how all that sprung up on top of a barren rock.
- Triffid, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Somewhere == North Korea?
- Xanin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@WarpFox
I believe there is a light show every night, yes - soogy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.focusmag.gr/id/files/190788/mordor.jpg
Striking similarities. Coincidence? I think not. - iamdek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It was so busy along the harbor front during the Christmas period ... rammed from the Star Ferry terminal all the way through to the other-side of the Avenue of Stars. I took some photos that included the bustle of the crowds in-front of the fantastic light display coming from Wan Chai, Admiralty & Central.

http://interfacelift.com/dl/wallpaper/00512_hongkongnight_1920x1200.jpg - jamble, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They're mildly interesting photos for sure but they're far from amazing. If you look around, you will find a huge number of truly stunning photos of Hong Kong.
- kryll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was just in HK two months ago. There is a nightly light show that starts at 8:00 PM and runs until about 11:00 PM. The light shows is actually all of the buildings lighting up and displaying different patterns/images for hours. There were also many christmas lights up on building faces because December was coming up.
Hong Kong residents seem to LOVE the Christmas holiday.
GG consumers. - stoppedcode12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just a curious question, is Hong kong a place where you can exercise outdoors safely?
Because I had a chem teacher who went to Greece. One morning, he decided to do a quick 15 min in the city, and during the run, every local he passed had this "you are ***** crazy" look on their faces. By the time he ran back to the hotel, he was sick, and puked. Apparently, he was sick because the air is so bad there. - poogtastik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I was just there last night and saw the lights show. At night, the harbor is absolutely amazing. I wish I could stay here forever.
- fuzzball963, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Anyone have some high res shots of these ? or of Hong Kong in general? I really like them but I need higher resolutions :)
- KaPowtheFOB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I lived in HK for 7 yrs and compared to US, I love HK
- hmmm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@stoppedcode12
I play tennis outdoors a couple times a week, and i feel mostly fine. I try to play in areas further away from heavy traffic. But not everyone is so lucky, like this guy for instance (he died while running the annual marathon):

The air here is horrible and like someone previously posted, the government is too incompetent to do anything about it. - bchang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love Hong Kong, which is why I live there now.
- markdr123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've been to Hong Kong, and yes, it's an amazing city, especially at night.
Also, the atmosphere of that first photo is breathtaking. - bchang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And every night there is a light show that you can see best from the Avenue of Stars, in Tsim Sha Tsui.
- levyjl1988, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, that is truly awesome! DUGG
- PureRED, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh the smog.
- Automatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who was the photographer?
- mattcoady, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The last one looks like its going through the apocalypse
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oklahoma? Kansas? Jersey? What are you talking about?!?
NYC is nice, but it really is starting to show its age. - HarryBauzonia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Try visiting there once ya' dipstick. It's actually prettier than what the pictures show.
- oric, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1One of the largest Hong Kong photo collections: http://www.fotegrafik.com/gallery/hong+kong
- autodata, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4You seem to be forgetting Chicago.
- Toast1185, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I wish some of our cities looked like Hing Kong at night."
Which ones?? - Cain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seriously, it does. Can someone please explain what exactly is going on in that last picture. Never seen a sky like that, I was guessing it's pollution during a sunset, but not sure.
- stealthyninja, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Looking at that last image again... http://i13.tinypic.com/333ftia.jpg
- ebob9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Edit: NM, I guess I don't know how to link a mirror :(
Edit2: last try - http://knuttz.net.nyud.net:8090/hosted_pages/Victoria-Harbour-20070114 - CedEx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The smog is from the coal fired plants in China from the west of the city. In the next few years as other sources of power are online (hydro, nuclear), the coal plants will be phased out, and the air should clear up.
I haven't really seen a clear day in HK in a couple of years now. - thanksgiving, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hong kong is a great city, but kowloon smells like absolute dump, its a smell that will never leave you
- cello, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hang Long is an awesome porno name.
- zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very pretty but man that last one looks like armageddon (look at the sky) like the sky is burning...
- j4nj1m3n3z, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hong kong is definitely a great city, if you are there you must go up the peak tram for quite possibly the greatest view right in the middle of the city
- baronvonrolo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's actually made my day.
There's something inherantly more beautiful about man made landscapes then there is of natural ones. (not that natural landscapes aren't beautiful). -
