- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -5/+187That's in the Goatse reservoir if I'm not mistaken.
- ABadInAlbany, on 10/12/2007, -6/+183FTA: "for obvious reasons, swimming near the glory hole is both prohibited and stupid.
Who in their right mind would name this a glory hole? - n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -6/+172Rosie O'Donnell and an all you can eat buffet.
- Vironex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+94Is that a challenge?
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -2/+86I'm trying to figure out if riding down that thing would be the most fun thing ever, or the most terrifying thing ever...
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+83Mario would be proud.
- gldfshnpcklejar, on 10/12/2007, -10/+91Which is across the road from tub girl geyser.
- t4k3n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+77I googled " glory hole" to find more pictures ...
A mistake...... - smackifilia, on 10/12/2007, -3/+61All i see is the ultimate big ass waterslide
- happylinuxguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+53A 28 foot diameter circular cover.
- xs650, on 10/12/2007, -0/+45I used to live about 30 miles from there in the 1960s back when we weren't as protected from ourselves as we are now.
It's about a 300 foot vertical drop.
I went in there one time and there was a rubber streak way up the curve towards the vertical section like from a motorcycle about where an early Darwin award contestant would have lost traction. - Ricapar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41Looks more like someone tried to divide by zero.
- tobiasbarton, on 10/12/2007, -8/+49They need to build a big set of hands grasping each side!!! Then they can call it The Dam Goatse! Someone needs to get busy with the photoshop....
- Slothy88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+37Here are some pictures of the construction period:
http://www.trophybassonly.com/id56.htm - exscind, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34Pretty scary looking - the sheer scale produces a sense of vertigo. I realize those areas are fenced off, but the natural response is "where's the mesh cover?". I can definitely see curious types venturing out for a closer look, daring each other to peek in, stand on the edge, etc.
- themarq, on 10/12/2007, -2/+32"During the drier months, when Lake Berryessa's water level is well below the rim of the glory hole, skateboarders and bikers sometimes use the spillway's horizontal exit as a half-pipe”.
That would be a full-pipe you goober. - digidelia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29i thought this was going to be about the Lake Peigneur disaster

Both. - habbofresh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22OH SHI-
- merdiesel, on 10/12/2007, -6/+28Thats lake Berryessa! I live about 20 minutes from there.
The pictures might be beautiful but the actual water itself is ***** disgusting. - HeL1ves1nYou, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21cue Mario sound effects?
- downwiththeking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20That is pretty cool, can't say I've seen anything like it before. That's why I love digg, just for the reason of seeing all these strange things I normally wouldn't.
- satan666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18I don't know why but it gives me a weird feeling. Kinda scary.
- sithmat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Was anyone else expecting a naked picture of Paris Hilton?
- grumpyrain, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23Please tell me they have some hydro turbine down there.
- JerryCant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17No they don't,
These drains are the "spillways" of the dam, if there's more water coming down then the turbines can handle, it is just flushed down the drain... - bunji, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16I see you're related to my husband, then.
- skyfire1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16This is awesome. You can easily throw kids you don't like in there.
- jordanste, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15no, you are wrong.
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14"Rembrandt! Professor! Let's go!"
/Sliders
Seriously, am I the only one who things it looks like the wormhole effect on sliders? - appleswitch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14"That would be a full-pipe you goober."
or, you know... a pipe... - reevolutn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12umm isnt that the whole point of a dam? the overflow is for the water they cant process fast enough
- vodkagunblast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Well, the town isn't artificial
- DrGonzo1184, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10You mean there is a town under the water? I would love to scuba down there and check that out.
- kkDonut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Huge. Wet. Hole.
- JeremyBanks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Dugg up for Sliders.
- razrielle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8The simile to googles bandwith
- LavaHot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Looks like something we might see in a future episode of Half-Life.
- Rub3s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I agree. People rip on Davis, but it is an excellent public university, and a great college town.
- stattek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7There are no turbines on this line. It's meant for overspill, during highwater periods.
The turbines are most likely held in the building beside the outlet or further downstream. - encognito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I hear ya. It feels like death and sex to me. I don't know whether to ***** it or flee from it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6wow, that story was really great, thanks...
- grumpyrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"umm isnt that the whole point of a dam? the overflow is for the water they cant process fast enough"
If it is a pure hydro dam, then it makes sense to just have the overflow, but some people make dams for catching rain to drink. Just a thought. - geronimo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Inaccurate. My wife is the biggest (money)drain in the world.
- kcap122, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5yea it was really cool..... here's a video of the whirlpool if you read the story
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHol4ICeDoo - hablo4u, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Cited bullet points defending your claim or it didn't happen.
- stattek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Your post isn't even coherent. How does this discussion prove anything towards your point?
Also, doesn't the use of computers violate the written ideas of Derrick Jensen? - diabolicdiablo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6So what your telling me ... is that there is some sort of crazy, artificial, underwater town down that hole.
