- AngryDeuce, on 10/02/2009, -1/+109I have a crazy idea. I mean, this is loony as *****: How about we legalize prostitution, regulate it, tax it, require regular, often STD testing instead of wasting taxpayer dollars prosecuting people for participating in it? I mean, I know for some people it is morally reprehensible to engage in sex acts for money, but seeing as how prostitution has been going since like the dawn of time and all, we'd give up the ghost and realize, logically, that no matter what the ***** we do, it's never gonna stop, and as long as there are people out there willing to pay for sex, there will be people out there willing to provide it. I mean, it's not like sex is driven by a basic natural human instinct or anything...oh, wait.
Yet another source of income we deny, and another colossal waste of taxpayer dollars... - rolf, on 10/02/2009, -3/+50"I mean, I know for some people it is morally reprehensible to engage in sex acts for money"
Come on, I don't find marriage all that bad. - Jaime2000, on 10/02/2009, -1/+35Legalize it!
- durruticolumn, on 10/02/2009, -0/+26
Legalized, regulated, unionized. Put another way: Hos up, pimps down.
Look, we're never going to get rid of prostitution, it's called the world's oldest profession for a reason. What we can do is do our best to mitigate the negative circumstances surrounding it. Focus on treatment for drug abuse, sti screening, and actively prosecuting johns who overstep bounds or act aggressively or violently. There are prostitute unions all over the world that are basically saying for the same thing: Criminalization and stigmatization only makes their jobs more dangerous. - noyurawk, on 10/02/2009, -2/+26Oh the horror some people will pay for sex! They must be severely punished!
/but if it's dinner and jewelry it's okay - WoollyMittens, on 10/02/2009, -0/+23That approach works fine in Europe. So Americans will hate it and scream bloody murder about it.
- ingmar, on 10/02/2009, -1/+24Yes, we have that in most of Europe. Mandatory STD screening (weekly, I think?) , no pimps, no hanging around schools & stuff, but that's about it. If you want to pay for sex you can do so legally. It works. It's still not considered a viable career choice, but it's not a crime.
- mytruehero, on 10/02/2009, -0/+21Damn this is creepy. Sitting people in a room, threatening them with jail time and then yelling at them for a day while they're not allowed to ask questions or even speak? Referring to them as "surprisingly malleable creatures?" What the *****? All for trying to have sex with another consenting adult?
- ingmar, on 10/02/2009, -0/+19You know, they also could stop prosecuting what essentially amounts to a victimless crime, like most of the rest of the world. Prosecute pimping, if you must ("living off the proceeds"), but the rest is just ridiculous. Long as they are not forced to do that, it should be their choice. In other words: Regulate (zoning laws, whatever) but don't prohibit completely.
- subtheorist, on 10/02/2009, -1/+19"I've arrested hundreds of street walkers and busted countless tricks,"
For whatever reason... I find this hilarious. Even if it's not really funny at all. - savagenacho, on 10/02/2009, -0/+18my ***** isn't usb compatible
- Paranor01, on 10/02/2009, -2/+18We all pay for sex, at least hookers are honest about the price.
Legalize it! - Malik112099, on 10/02/2009, -1/+14How to end prostitution:
Give out free government funded vagina. - hiPpymIck, on 10/02/2009, -0/+10 what do they do in US state Nevada - i hear its legal there
here in several EU countries they have state licenced bothels
in France its called maison de tolérance - NSResponder, on 10/02/2009, -0/+8I've got news for you: there were prostitutes in the Soviet Union, too.
-jcr - 4rp4n3t, on 10/02/2009, -0/+8That is laughably wrong. Leaving aside the fact that you haven't actually tackled the supply problem, you don;t even consider *demand*.
- jedinate, on 10/02/2009, -0/+6I don't understand why prostitution is illegal. You can take a woman on a date, spend 50 bucks on dinner and then get laid, but it's illegal to skip dinner and just give her the cash. And before you say, it's bad for the economy to skip dinner, if prostitution were legal, you'd still be contributing.
- senae, on 10/02/2009, -0/+6I think there's definitely a place for pimping, just not in the way that it currently exists.
Having a pimp be more in the form of a brothels madame, rather then the guy who forces the girls to shoot up and uses their new heroin addiction to chain them to the job.
Those guys should all die, frankly. - spaceball5000, on 10/02/2009, -1/+7Ummm, it IS legal just a few hours drive away outside of Las Vegas. If you're out that way, stop by the Bunny Ranch and you won't need to go go John classes. Girls are tested too. ++ (bunnyranch.com)
- firesphotons, on 10/02/2009, -1/+6How bout this new approach, stop prosecuting ***** crimes, go take a gun out of someone's hand and let us get our dicks serviced as we see fit in what was once a sort of free country.
- Intercon, on 10/02/2009, -0/+5Another thing legalizing prostitution in America would do is cut down on illegal human trafficking. Every year thousands upon thousands of women are forced into the sex trade against their will, sometimes sold by amoral parents to 'dealers,' who abuse and destroy these young women. By legalizing and regulating what is already a widespread practice (paying for sex), we could go a long way towards curtailing the activities of pimps and human traffickers and their outrageous and despicable abuse of young women.
- senae, on 10/02/2009, -0/+5Hey there, how's that virginity working out for you?
- mrfuzz, on 10/02/2009, -1/+5You would think 'projections of stomach-turning images of infected penises' would curb the problem.
- archivedigger, on 10/01/2009, -2/+6But do they have pizza comedy traffic school for johns.
- gnixon70, on 10/02/2009, -0/+4worked pretty well in Germany.
- asgardshill, on 10/02/2009, -0/+4FTA:
"Built on the belief that a heavy dose of in-your-face shame and scare tactics can do more to dissuade men from looking to the streets for gratification than traditional punishment ..."
"Adding to the sense of anonymity was the program's policy of not addressing the men by their names."

How can one get in one's face when one is faceless? - janjamm, on 10/02/2009, -0/+3Legalize prostitution. It is simple. The illicit thrill of its illegality adds to the traffic. Let people have sex with whomever they wish. What's the problem? In these recessionary times, programs to save the johns is an embarrassing waste of precious few funds. Legalize it.
- kinerry, on 10/02/2009, -1/+3yea, we don't need clean water or the internet or food or anything...
- ajkrik, on 10/02/2009, -0/+2Too busy trying to provide health care to all. And it would just be too simple and logical.
- Paranor01, on 10/08/2009, -0/+2independent. ty, my bad. juggling 12 different things at a time on weekly basis can muddle the mind a bit :)
- Yanarix, on 10/02/2009, -0/+2"It's not meant as a feel-good therapy session or an opportunity to explain away bad decisions, so there is no give-and-take in the class. The johns are not allowed to ask questions or speak. They sit and listen."
Freedom of Speech, Ill damn well speak up when Im lied to.
"Ruditsky softens the men up with graphic photographs of swollen, disfigured faces of johns who had been set up by prostitutes to be beaten and robbed."
using sex to mug people isnt necessary, the illegality of prostitution just helps these criminals get away with it- are we to just cower in our homes instead of interacting with the society for fear of getting mugged?
"And you think you're tough enough for jail? You're not going to have a nice time in county, folks. It's a terrible thing to say, but there will be a question of whether you survive in there." Why put people into jail for wanting to have sex? why build a building to put people where there will be a question of whether they will survive in there? you sick f*ck.
"Next up is a health worker's crash course in sexually transmitted diseases. Backs stiffen and knees bounce nervously as she projects stomach-turning images of infected penises." again, what are we supposed to do? cower in isolation at home, because interacting with people exposes you to disease? great, lets all be Howard Hughes.
"I felt like my life was in total jeopardy all the time" maybe the cops should be treating prostitutes like people? curb a little of this gross abuse that flourishes... no, they'd rather just smirk.
"They shatter the idealized notions that researchers have found johns typically harbor about prostitutes -- namely, that the women enjoy the encounters" what is wrong with you? if you dont enjoy it, dont do it, whats even holding you back?
"Would you want someone messing with your daughter? Then why mess with someone else's? Go home, take a cold shower." Because messing around is fun. your daughter will grow up and mess around, thats a fact, get over it. - dgolding, on 10/02/2009, -0/+2The other good reason to legalize it (and drugs): Taxes! The rest of the population is subsidizing these people because they don't pay any taxes. I'm all for the STD testing, licensing, whatever - slap a 20% tax on it.
- hiPpymIck, on 10/02/2009, -2/+3just an observation
im from EU but ive noticed when US guys say Capitalism they dont really mean All Capitalism - they mean the American style of captalism - zephc, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1Or online traffic school for johns. No need for the public shaming. You can even wank at home to internet porn while you take the online course and test!
- MWeather, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1It's also legal in Rhode Island, so long as it takes place entirely indoors. Streetwalkers are illegal, whore houses are legal.
- Jaime2000, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1If that was the grounds for going after pimps, you should go after all the rich people who live off their investments, too. Why not just decriminalize all three, asking for, selling, and managing?
- Suricou, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1It's not legal in all of Nevada - only in eight counties.
- durruticolumn, on 10/02/2009, -1/+2
Capitalism denies those things to more people than it provides them to. - SumoSniper, on 10/02/2009, -1/+2From prosecuting pimping, you could apply the same laws to record labels.
Oh the possibilities.
Also, if you're that desperate, move to Australia where it's de-criminalised. - Gauthic, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1Comedian? Is that you? I thought Ozymandias killed you!
- senae, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1I'm not going to respond to your post because... holy ***** that's a lot of text.
I'm saying you're a virgin, because sex and masterbation are entirely different things. The fact that you see a parralell between the two means you don't actually know that.
Which means that you've never had sex, or you're a cold, emotionless human being who is incapable of feeling anything but orgasm. That's also an option. - Jaime2000, on 10/06/2009, -0/+1"Mutually exclusive" means you cannot combine one with the other. The correct term for what you are trying to describe is "separate," "different," or "independent."

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/mutually ... - hiPpymIck, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1sorry
i meant when you US guys say " the American way" - youre talking about more than just money
my point was that using Capitalism is also only one of the many ways ppl try to get things done around the world
i spose everyone has their own appproach and
i guess nobody is really sure which system is best yet - 4degrees, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1just tell the nice officer you were not paying to have sex with this lady, you are paying her to be in a movie, which involves some sexual activity. Its not illegal to pay someone to make a porn.
- Yage2006, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1How about try legalizing it. It already is in Vegas. It's stupid to prosecute people for this.
The only reason's is Illegal are religious in origin.
And before anyone mentions anything about disease in vegas in a properly run establishment the clients and the prostitutes are checked by a doctor.
- walker4bc, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1Do they have an online version of this like traffic school?
- nepidae, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1First of all I have to say this is a good thing. Arresting does little to help problems of this nature. However, War on Whores is another war that is unwinnable.
- shawnfromnh, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1What makes you think I'm a virgin???? :)
I just won't lower my ego by paying for something that is below me on the social ladder. I put prostituted right above criminals that are nonviolent and right below long term welfare recipients, and way way below working class Americans. Pay for sex psychologically means that you feel you are not good enough to get it for free so you must pay her for it. I know my hand at least gives a ***** if I live or die but a prostitute is just basically you paying for friction. It's the same as masturbation since it's fake sex since one is into it and one is being paid for it and would probably doing a line or booting some coke or passed out drunk if she didn't need the money. No, I have no respect for whores and the only good they do is make the women that aren't whores look so much better.
Prostitutes that are not legal as in Vegas and are just caught in the act or propositioning should have to pay a $10,000 fine. You know that they are working and aren't paying taxes. Well if I was avoiding taxes I would pay for it dearly and I think $10,000 would be fair to make sure they are paying all the back taxes they owe. It'll also pay for the enforcement and incarceration since those police aren't free and I don't think I should have to pay for them breaking the law. Hell their customers should have the same fine just to cover the cost on that end to and to cover the taxes for all the money he's paid other women that wasn't taxed either.
I'm just looking out for the economy and trying to keep taxes down for the hard working men and women in this country. :)
As a side effect. When you make the crime have such huge fines then women think twice before even attempting something like this and that makes it so there are more women out there NOT charging for something that shouldn't cost money ever.
Oh and don't be afraid of porn because like they say there are 2 type of men. 95% masturbate and the other 5% lie about it. :) - MWeather, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1Europe seems able to do both at the same time.
- Neville007, on 10/02/2009, -1/+1Two words: black market.
