- YojanV, on 06/11/2009, -2/+21I was in Nantes about 2 weeks ago. They had loads of trees that they'd cut down, turned upside down and painted blue.
Make your own conclusions from that... - Nollie2, on 06/11/2009, -1/+18Would you kindly please not panic about this.
- feelmypimphand, on 06/11/2009, -3/+19that's what she said
- ssquared22, on 06/10/2009, -2/+18French people really know their marionettes, but man, do they have hate for the Icelandic people.
- pikpikcarrotmon, on 06/11/2009, -0/+14I have absolutely no knowledge of French, so allow me to interpret rchargel's original comment for you folks:
C'est certainement le plus incroyable marionnette que j'ai jamais vu. Quel dommage que mon français est terrible. Deux ans à l'université, et c'est le mieux que je puisse faire.
This entertainment from a very uncrushable marionette is for all of you. The damage caused by France is terrible. Don't go to the university, but the minx has a fair pussy. - DrRossi, on 06/11/2009, -2/+15Royal de Luxe is AWESOME!
I saw "The sultan's elephant" in Antwerp in 2006 and it was simply mind boggling. It was the most unbelieveble thing I have ever seen.
An *mechanical* elephant as high as the third floor in a building (look at the pictures, people looking out the window, are on the same level as the back of the elephant) see for example:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/sultans_elephant_in_a ...
with each leg steered by one operator (attached in a seat to the leg), the head and the trunk operated by *three* operators, and yet the elephant is so big, the operators nearly vanish.
And the elephant just walks and moves naturally and gracefully; just as a natural elephant would do. You must see it to believe it.
And then, of course, there was about the one-million people that turned out to come and see it.
Someone above me wrote they had lots of trees in Nantes turned upside down and painted blue.
He got modded down, but it is very well possible that his report is true. Royal de Luxe works on that kind of scale. In Antwerp there were also some cars sewn together with needle and thread, where the thread is about as thick as you arm is.
New Yorkers attention! Royal de Luxe is coming to New York this summer! Don;t miss it.
And yes, Royal the Luxe is kind of secretive. As immense as their festivals are, it is very hard to come by their agenda to find the dates and the locations where they will be performing.
If you have a chance: don;t miss it! - cJw314, on 06/11/2009, -0/+13Now if only they could find a way to do it without a giant crane stuck up his ass.

- kylegary, on 06/11/2009, -1/+9and we think their way of governing is so bad compared to ours.
- alahao, on 06/11/2009, -0/+6That's a lot of wires to remove in post.

- geoman2k, on 06/11/2009, -0/+5this stuff is amazing... i would totally plan a trip to new york just to see one of these performances. do you know when it is happening, and where i can get information on it? i googled Royal the Luxe New York but I can't find any info...
- NeddieSeagoon, on 06/11/2009, -1/+6I like how most of the spectators are chatting or wandering off or looking completely disinterested, like "Oh, it's just another one of those giant crane-operated marionettes..."
- bpoteat, on 06/12/2009, -0/+5I'm not your buddy, friend.
- jdmCrush, on 06/11/2009, -2/+7mdr (mort de rire, the "LOL" of french)
- blackhappy, on 06/11/2009, -0/+4I to got to see the Sultans Elephant when I was in London, Hot summers day and the elephant was spraying the crowd with water, it was amazing. Definitely something worth catching if you get a chance.
But like the above poster said very secretive, a space capsule showed up over night in the middle of London and they left everyone guessing for the day and then they announced what was happening. - 4rp4n3t, on 06/11/2009, -0/+4*Jolly

- aflaks, on 06/11/2009, -0/+4Do you know how many times Heero Yuy has over-drafted when trying to fix his Gundam?
- mjvj56, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3Buddy, the french are doing as bad if not worse than Americans right now financially. Their national debt is close to ours "percentage of GDP" wise so stop being so ignorant.
- SeverTomorrow, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3What isn't shown is the awkward moment afterward when they realize their cables have become intertwined.
- DrRossi, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3Found it. Or something.

Google translate makes this of it:
"
Hardly do we know that the Royal workshops since September shape the next "hero" of wood and steel.
The first step nantaise barely completed, the team of Royal de Luxe will fly to New York. They will be at the invitation of Lincoln Center, the cultural institution of the American city, which celebrates its 50 years. But it is a double anniversary that Royal concocted since the Big Apple next summer celebration the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first Dutch navigators in Hudson Bay.
If the logistics of events designed by the director Jean-Luc Courcoult gives cold sweat to the leaders of French cities that host them, that when the Giants give the urge to browse some of the most prestigious New York! Difficulties in the size of the city and stumble sometimes against mere quality problems surface, often degraded in New York.
Gigantism is at all levels with an audience expected ... 5 million people!
"
So, Lincoln Centre, audience expected 5 million people.
It will be something. -
