- decet, on 04/30/2008, -0/+52Let's face it: If you want to bring across an important message, you have to shout louder than the ambient noise, which is quite loud already. And if you are constantly exposed to a background noise of shocking ads, news and entertainment, you need to package your message in a way more shocking than the background.
- jigulous, on 04/30/2008, -0/+44You think this is shocking? Try it on meth.
- mrjofo, on 04/30/2008, -1/+26...with an underage girl, eating foie gras, in the kitchen where you work.
- sherina, on 04/30/2008, -0/+16They were all pretty good, some more shocking than others. I thought the one about speeding was brilliant - if it had just been a high speed crash it wouldn't have caught anyone's attention as much as stopping the motion and having the voiceover describing exactly what was going to happen.
And the one about the soccer field with land mines was brilliant. Very well done and it helps make people sit up and realize, hey that's life every single day for some people - going about your business and your playing and hoping everyone makes it home okay. - JMowery, on 04/30/2008, -2/+16This is amazingly disturbing stuff!

- lmf49, on 04/30/2008, -0/+13Holy ***** kids, get the ***** outta here.
- Easty, on 04/30/2008, -0/+13I shouldn't have watched them all at once :(

- RikkiTikki, on 04/30/2008, -1/+13The Sadist one wrongly denotes that S/M is bad. The others are just terrifying
- bongle, on 04/30/2008, -0/+12Surprised they missed out on the Canadian domestic abuse ads. They're a bit less shocking than the WSIB ads, but not much (especially the restaurant one).

- Neoanarchist, on 04/30/2008, -0/+10Oh the irony.
- springsfromsalt, on 04/30/2008, -0/+10The human trafficking one will haunt me. It must have been hard for Emma Thompson to create, imagine how horrific it is for the people living it. :(
- plundstedt, on 04/30/2008, -2/+11The landmine one was quite shocking/disturbing.
- inactive, on 04/30/2008, -1/+9I disagree, these PSAs target real problems. PSAs from PETA and religious group can get annoying because the involve values and not facts. The only one I sort of disagreed with was the duck poster.
- orangefly, on 04/30/2008, -1/+8holy ***** for the landmines....

- inactive, on 04/30/2008, -0/+7I love the WSIB ads, they get to the ***** point: be careful or be featured in an oddly hilarious PSA.
- halleyscomet, on 04/30/2008, -3/+10I see, you find maimed, crippled and dead children funny, as long as they're in another country. Have you considered a career with the Republican party?
- inactive, on 04/30/2008, -8/+14Oh, that? That's just funny
- Zippo, on 04/30/2008, -0/+6Jesus, that grease one is going to give me nightmares.
- john2kx, on 04/30/2008, -3/+9I lol'd.
- sw33tsarin, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5Seriously, Deleted Uranium? Deleted? That comment doesn't even pertain to the article. If you're not going to chill the ***** out with the spam ***** at least do it in relevant articles. Douchebag.
- sancho320, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5Maybe, but seriously, Anti-Foie Gras? Does this duck really belong on the page with the rest of these?
- robdiggity, on 04/30/2008, -1/+6"Ahhh kids, you know these people that go to sleep at night? They think everything's fine.. everything's good? Then they wake up the next day and they're on fire!"
- doctechnical, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4No, go ahead and ewes it, then have the spellchecker fix it. I due that all the thyme.
- Lovett, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4wow that statuary rape ad is creepy
- halleyscomet, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4Actually, a lot of kids are killed by land mines while playing. The only "Over the top" thing here was that the land mine was in a suburban soccer field instead of an improvised soccer field in a third world nation. Take away the affluence of the participants and you have a pretty accurate depiction of a scene that plays out all over the world.
- mrsteveman1, on 04/30/2008, -1/+5Eventually its all going to be just porn
Cut to guy ***** chick on a couch, looks up "Remember kids, meth ruins lives!" - bonesmile, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3It should be a requirement or at least an option to submit stories and create/find mirrors for the pages.
- monalisaa, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3yeah it's S&M with an animal that is helpless and cannot consent that is the problem I think. But I know where you're coming from
- john2kx, on 04/30/2008, -2/+5If you can't spell a word, don't use it.. Sorry to be a spelling nazi.
- Neoanarchist, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4Lmfao.
- Impeller, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4Unbeleivable...
- apackofmonkeys, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3Frickin' stop spamming every topic with your conspiracy theories about the government and 9/11! You're losing any sympathy you might have garnered by being so freaking annoying.
- funkymoose, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3I went to Cambodia last winter to see some people and donate food and medicine to families in poor villages. When we would stop the car to pee sometimes I was told not to go to one side of the road because they knew there were still land mines there. Little kids, knee high, would walk by there, by themselves or maybe with a friend their same age, and to go back and fourth past that location from school. Probably a couple miles from school and their house. I was actually more concerned about people abducting them. but there isn't too much you can do to help them. When I was there I was also told by some of the people their, that people employed by the UN (natives) to dig up land mines would just replant them in other places so they could keep they're jobs longer. Don't know if it's true but that just shows you how desperate people are in other parts of the world for money. If you ever had a mom that used to rant that you don't know how lucky you have it in your country instead of living in a third world, it's true. Most people have no idea or choose to ignore it. You don't truly know how real it is till you see it. When I think of things like this I always remember a quote from Socrates "I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world." Anyways, supposedly miners (that's what they call people who dig up land mines, just thought that as interesting because most people think of miners as people who dig in mines rather than dig up mines.) blow themselves up all the time digging them. So they do it even though theirs a risk. yeah /rant
- nebunezzar, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3Dang, what's with Canadians and spilling hot liquids on people?
- halleyscomet, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4I don't see it as depicting S&M as bad. It's depicting the forced feeding of ducks to get enlarged livers as being comparable to S&M with an unwilling sub. I don't know ANY S&M fans who would even consider a scene with an unwilling participant.

- Rikkochet, on 04/30/2008, -2/+4Because they show the landmine as the bad guy, and ignore the other side of the story: it was planted with care by a simple country soldier. It grew and grew, until one day a human came along and blew it up and now it's dead and will never be with its landmine friends again.
- mrsteveman1, on 04/30/2008, -0/+2That duck creeps me out, perhaps i should be more concerned that people thought of this, and had duck sized gags and collars for just such an occasion.
- doctechnical, on 04/30/2008, -1/+3"Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall down a manhole" - Mel Brooks
- Cocks, on 04/30/2008, -0/+2I don't think the landmine one was graphic enough - landmines rip flesh from the bone, all we saw was smoke. They should show what actually happens to kids that accidentally step on landmines that haven't been cleaned up after combat.
If somebody's going to say something, they should say it properly. - doctechnical, on 04/30/2008, -0/+2No, it belongs on Iron Chef. In a press.
