- StarCrusher, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27Sorry but this is lame. There's no video, no dates, and no names. I certainly don't put it past the average police goon to do whatever they think they get away with. A decent blogger would have stuck to facts without sidetrips to see her"awesome new car". She claims to not know how you could be charged with Public Drunkenness and Trespassing. I'm guessing that whatever state she's in has written down what these laws are.
She has told us only one side of the story and not all of that. We have no idea if she did something to "present a threat" to the goon, thus triggering his "fear for his life" and necessitating his use of force. We have no idea if this event happened or if this some spoof to get traffic to her weblog. Some bloggers are journalists. Many are not. From thus blog, I understand that she's white, young, blonde and overly idealistic (when you're 19 and have already decided what dream resort you're going to retire in, you're idealistic at best).
I have no doubt that I'm gonna get dug down by the testosterone flushed masses who think she's hot. If this submission was from a fifty year old homeless man, would you have felt the same? I am very anti-violence and detest misuse of police powers. But this is not news. This is some brainless rant from a nineteen year old piece of fluff that has no idea that a news story needs more than "I'm ***** pissed" to be news worthy. - jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26There are always two sides to every story, using a taser on a 118lb girl might seem like a huge abuse of power in any context but we weren't there so we have to use caution before rushing to judgment.
From this girls own site she states
"Obviously, tasering a 118 pound girl with no reason is not really acceptable, so he made up some charges in order to arrest me and to try to (weakly) justify his actions. I'm being charged with the following three crimes:
- Drunk in public
- Trespassing
- Resisting arrest"
She never defends herself from the Drunk in public charge which leads me to believe this was an alcohol related evening of craziness. Everyone who has been involved in those knows that they say things they don't really mean and do things they never would otherwise. While I don't think she should have been tasered I also think we should wait and see if more details unfold before rushing to judgment and trying to bring blame on the Officer (they aren't all bad you know). - imerlin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Two sides to every story. Does the cop have a blog as well?
- WillSpencer, on 10/12/2007, -12/+24That officer, in addition to being to laughed at for using his taser on a 118lbs girl, should be kicked off the force. He seems to have forgotten the meaning of "to serve and protect."
- betasp, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13No, you use a gun when you need to use a gun. A Taser is not a replacement for a gun, nor should it be. A Taser lessons the risk for an officer that needs to subdue a suspect because they do not need to make physical contact. Also, there is a way to keep police power in check, it is called the courts... look into it.
- d4700, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Oh, I am sure she just called him a moron.
- scratched, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9@betasp
Tasers are a non-lethal alternative to a gun. If you get hit with a taser, no matter how tough you think you are, you're going down. But in most cases you'll be totally fine later on. Police use tasers in the same situations where a gun is needed as a way to prevent "accidents" from happening.
Sadly, many officers are not trained properly and they could be doing serious harm to the people they taser because of it - pulphero, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10The reason tasers are being used is that overall all it does less damage then manhandling someone in to submission. It avoids a lot of broken fingers, dislocated elbows and other more serious problems. If you don't have at least 3 people working to subdue a combative person being arrested someone is going to get hurt.
- kilworth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9What has fact, that she has anorexia nervosa, todo with the taser incident?
- boson3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9LOL. Drunk whiny b---- got pwn3d. Now she can drive her 'awesome new car' to court to pay her fine.
What's missing is the cop's side of the story. What else did bratzilla do to justify his response that she didn't admit to? - nowisee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Somehow i think she deserved it. The way she writes makes me think she is a obnoxious blond ***** with attitude. I have met my share of them when i have been out with friends drinking.
- theoallardyce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7People have died from tasering.
- BentCorner, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7She left out a lot of information. She seems to think that her sex (female) and her weight (118 pounds) prohibit the police from doing what police do. Not that I'm advocating police brutality. I just happen to know what's going to happen when somebody gives a cop the bird and calls them a moran. Even if they weigh 118 pounds. Even if they are a girl. There is a reason most people don't call cops names and flip them off. Now she knows why too.
After reading through her blog, I think she got what she deserved. She sounds like an annoying drunk bitch. Refer to the entry where she talks about being at a party and going to a neighbor's yard to pee. Karma is a bitch. - Cubedude04, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8The ***** deserves it
You dont go and ***** up people who risk there lives for you sweetheart. - scheming, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5this gets more attention on digg than the dudes who were shot and killed in new york city? (no i don't remember that making the front page of digg, but if you can show me differently than digg me down)
- BigDaddyCool, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7He should have tased her 4 times. Maybe it would have shocked all the whiney bitch out of her.
FYI... You can trespass on public property (ie. a park.) Especially if you have been told to leave the premises by the person or persons in charge of that property. ESPECIALLY if it was by the police. Here's a novel thought. Do what the police tell you and you might not get zapped by a taser, or smacked with an asp, or shot. I've been trying that theory for 35+ years and I haven't had a problem yet. I know it sounds crazy, but I tend to go with what works, but that's just me. - JohnFlux, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7albrown123,
I agree totally. I've seen too many young teenage girls think they can do whatever they want, because frankly they can.
I would hope that this would teach her a lesson in manners, but somehow I doubt it unfortunately ;( - RipperMortis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Except that according to her profile she's 28 years old. Hardly a teenager. Well, physically anyway.
- netdroid9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5You'll be saying the same thing when they start making those giant death rays for 'crowd control'.
Whoops, they already have: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_Denial_System - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6If you don't want to get tasered, then DON'T GET DRUNK IN PUBLIC AND TRESPASS YOU ***** MORON. I hope this girl gets thrown in jail. Maybe then she will gain some maturity.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5 fredsterss
Yes. In fact, I don't think she was tasered enough because she is obviously one of those arrogant and stuck up types who think the world revolves around her. - CzechRebel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ imerlin
You are right, there are two sides to these stories. Here we are only hearing it from the perspective of a woman was surprised to discover what violent animals 99.999% of all police are.
We need to hear from those who first experience police brutality as a child and have known about it throughout their lives. We need to hear it from the perspective individuals spending the rest of his productive life behind bars because the pigs (a/k/a police officers) beat confessions out of him. Maybe, we should hear form the widows of some innocent people whom the police have executed on the streets.
We should hear it from the perspective of the thousands of good people who sought a career in law enforcement, but needed to quit for reasons of conscience. Any reasonably intelligent and reasonable moral individual must quit the force when he finds out what a dirty business it really is.
Sorry to burst the bubbles of those of you who live in fairly land, but police are not very good people. I know—I know—there is this one in a million good guy that you think is a good person and a policeman. Just wait until it happens to you! - xsecretfiles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4OMG She is sooo fat
- webguru, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Hmm, that would be 39,33 pound, let's say 40 pounds per taser shock.
So if you weigh 80 pounds you would get 2 shocks.
This brings us to this conclusion:
nrofshocks = weight / 39,33
This means that either these police officers are out of their minds by shocking this often or they're just very good at math. - jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Blend jokes are just not funny anymore, put them in the same category as wii-insertwordhere jokes.
- chatty82, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The tecnical capabilities of the taser gun is that an 118-pound girl is hard to "taze." It's the newest verb , (I taze, you taze, he tazes, we taze and they get tazed). Pepper spray is another temporary efftect. At police academy police recruits are sprayed with non-lethal pepper spray to show that it wears off after the subject is temporarily dumfounded. People that need to get tazed or sprayed were dumb the whole time....
- CzechRebel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It sounds like you are advocating police brutality. It could happen to you someday. It has happened to many.
- gobuks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4why would the stupid girl flip of a police officer. the officer did over react but still you have to be pretty stupid to get drunk call a police officer a moron and flip him off.
- Jarasmen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, what an awesome heartbreaking story...
- RipperMortis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4***** her legal fees. She can use some of the money she used to buy her new home, her business, and her 'awesome new car' to pay her own fees.
- CzechRebel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ JohnFlux
How long have you been a member of the Nazi Party?
I am the father of a teenage daughter. It is a sick society that allows someone as dangerous as you to walk the streets. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Obviously, tasering a 118 pound girl with no reason is not really acceptable, so he made up some charges in order to arrest me and to try to (weakly) justify his actions. 28 years old, 118lbs... sounds to me like she was trespassing in some area that sold food. Police's side of the story: "She called me a moron, so I called her fat and she went psycho" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9"...using a taser on a 118lb girl might seem like a huge abuse of power in any context but we weren't there so we have to use caution before rushing to judgment."
No, we don't. Unless she was attempting to flee or actively resisting we don't need the rest of the details. She can be as mouthy as she wants, use whatever hand gestures seem appropriate. None of that justifies use of force.
If you want to defend anyone, defend the thousands of good cops who exercise near super-human restraint, even in the face of provocation that's a lot more sever than being flipped off, and never make the news. Defend the chiefs who don't tolerate those abuses or excuse excessive force because it could somehow be fit into the definition of "department policy." We should be quick to support the good cops, who are the majority, and appreciate what they do. And just as quick to give the few bad ones the heave-ho. Because many of them are heroes doesn't mean they all are.
If we don't make a stand against these types of abuses then we will have a police state. - arcele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I see in the future.....a digg front page article of the true story being released by some news organization with witnesses to her behavior, at least slightly justifying the action of the police
- ViciousSummer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yep, I did leave out quite a bit of information. Like the fact that I wasn't drunk. I asked for a blood alcohol test 3 times at the hospital and I asked for a breathalyzer twice at the police station. The officer wouldn't let anyone test me (because he knew I wasn't drunk and didn't want me to have the proof).
The short version of what happened before getting tasered: I was arguing with a bouncer that was not letting patrons use the restroom at a restaurant/bar (which is against the law). I turned to the police officer and asked him to tell the bouncer that what he was doing was against the law. The officer stared at me blankly, so I said, "You DO know the LAW don't you". His reaction was telling me to leave or I would be arrested for trespassing. I called them both morons, flipped them off and turned around to walk out. As I was walking outside, I was grabbed from behind by the cop and thrown to the pavement. Commence tasering...
As much as most of the people here want to hate me, calling an officer a moron and/or flipping them off is not a crime. - cbags, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Two sides to every story. Does the cop have a blog as well?"
I would have to agree here, there are no real details from "NOT HER". Hell a youtube video at least shows what actually happens, this is just a screaming whiner. How can you be trespassing AND Drunk in Public, EASY, be drunk in a public location, that you have already been asked to leave. - demonduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I mostly agree ... but I think she is 28.
- Tivor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I have to say, while three tazer shots do sound like an overkill, she does sound like she deserved at least one.
Anyway, yeah, two sides to every story. Hopefully we'll get to hear what the cop has to say. - mattsidesinger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@scratched
"Sadly, many officers are not trained properly and they could be doing serious harm to the people they taser because of it"
Police ARE properly trained on using their tasers - this cop just may not have had any self control. Training lasts for three 8 hour days. And, no they aren't doing serious harm. The only time a taser is dangersous is when someone is on drugs or their heart has been raised to a heightened stressed state, like after running from the cops for a long time. When you are tasered, your blood's acidity raises which makes the pH of your blood drop, which is safe unless your pH is so low from drugs that when your pH drops more your heart is at risk of cardiac arrest.
Also, it is not uncommon to be tasered 3 times. The average times someone is tasered is 2.4 time before they listen.
This is all based on research that my wife and others have done.
By no means am I saying that what the cop did was right. He probably could have just cuffed her without the tasering. - cindra24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To be honest and apparently one of the few that are still human on this list of hate, I am slightly surprised at the response about her tasering incident. My own reaction would have been similar to being treated like that. From what she stated on her own page and if you bother to read her comments, she wasn't drunk and was asking an officer to back her up on a law. So his overzealous abuse of power really was just a way of being pissy about someone not giving him the respect he thought he was owed. He could have killed her. Since I see no reason that she would lie about it with witnesses confirming her story, witnesses she doesn't know, why would you be so harsh about it? Who is that stupid to brag about being thrown down and nearly killed just because someone needed to use a rest room? I feel for her and hope she wins her case.
- qbarth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0The issue is an officer that lost control and is still on the street with weapons. He should have been pulled off duties dealing with public until investigation. Instead he has had half a year to abuse other. For an accurate test, inject someone with natural adrenalin then taser three times and see how really safe that is. Planning a family....what does electrocution do to eggs? Have tests been done on that?
- CzechRebel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ pulphero
It sounds like you agree that “Pigs will be Pigs.” If we don’t give those pigs a piece of high tech equipment to knock people out they will be even more violent. Thanks for your analysis! - monks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here some facts on tasers for you people.
http://digg.com/world_news/MLK_Day_Taser_Use_and_Civil_Rights
Funny, people are admitting they don't know the story but are still calling vicious summer a 'bimbo', 'bitch', 'annoying drunk bitch', and even a 'moron'. You people is smarts.
California Health Code:

To be fair, the ADS is nonlethal...unless whoever made it added power options beyond the nonlethal range, which none of the test units apparently demonstrated.
While I agree that it can be used as a massive death ray, it's not intended that way (...yet) and it won't melt a crowd without lots of work. - Leo55, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Who the ***** even approved the use of tasers?
How can you be drunk in public and be trespassing? Note the word : public?
The police got to be so ***** puny that he can't even arrest a woman without resorting to tasering. - arcele, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow a taser story...let's everyone digg this!!!....I have a hard time believing the story that his bimbo is presenting anyway, at least the fact that it's complete and that she didn't do something foolish like say....spit in someone's face. I say she probably deserved the tasering...now go ahead and bury my comment hippies.
