- Chords0fLife, on 05/15/2009, -0/+66I call *****. You have to be king of the interwebs to get "Mike" as an AIM screen name.
- techstar25, on 05/15/2009, -0/+54People have been getting stabbed in New York City parks for years - with or without ever even going online.
- codered1322, on 05/15/2009, -0/+18His screen name was literally "MikeDidIt" kinda crazy....
- ksw870, on 05/15/2009, -0/+16Its funny that aol is the one reporting this.
- scentaroom, on 05/15/2009, -6/+21What is safe? I'm scared to get on the net, now.
- UnbannedAccount, on 05/15/2009, -0/+14Why the scare tactic reference to Craig's List in the posted title?
- BrownieMix, on 05/15/2009, -1/+10Craigslist is usually always safe.... assuming you meet in a public place to exchange and not at their house like a dumbass.
- holzp, on 05/15/2009, -0/+8Safest: Pr0n.

- ducttape36, on 05/15/2009, -0/+6to have sex.
or commit murder. - ksw870, on 05/15/2009, -0/+6Wow...I wish I could meet a chick that hot on the internet.
- brian22, on 05/15/2009, -1/+7She should have gone to a bar or a club to meet people because the people there are way safer and we know that no crime ever happens in those places.
- SeanyMac, on 05/15/2009, -0/+5So, she talks with an ex-con online and gets stabbed and this is AIM's fault? Craigslist's? This is typical media finger-pointing instead of saying, "Yes, she shouldn't have gotten stabbed, but she also shouldn't have been talking with a FORMER CONVICTED FELON in the first place."
- benologist, on 05/15/2009, -0/+5I offer a combo deal.
- decx, on 05/15/2009, -5/+9What? No! With my last ounce of strength, I sucked out my gold fillings and swallowed them. Those paramedics have sticky fingers.
- MikaStar, on 05/15/2009, -0/+4I suppose the real lesson here is "don't chat with ex-cons". I don't see where Craigslist ties into this.
- MWeather, on 05/15/2009, -0/+4England already has. The US won't be far behind. First we have to finish blanketing the country with CCTV, though.
- xsecretfiles, on 05/15/2009, -0/+4See what happens when you break up with somebody over AIM........
- inactive, on 05/15/2009, -0/+4I recently tried Craiglist to find a hook up for the first time. I am a hetero male. Results below:
I got signed up for spam. Tons of porn bots replied. The only REAL person I encountered ended up being the girl I used to sit next to at my job. The odds are pretty astronomical, but makes for a funny story. I'm trying to chat her up and she says "You realize I know you right?"
Oops. If you do use it use a alternate/fake email to avoid spam. But if I had been using one I might have had an embarrassing meet up. - theOster, on 05/15/2009, -0/+4i think they're referencing the recent news about CL taking down their adult services because people were concerned that other people were having sex. using that logic, we should also ban AOL because people have been killed by using it.
i love logic. - inactive, on 05/15/2009, -0/+4I'm wondering when they'll add knife control laws.
- kreneskyp, on 05/16/2009, -0/+4why stop there, we should require all people to be strapped to a bed for the duration of their lives.
- inactive, on 05/15/2009, -0/+3withdraw occupation and secure a parlimentary gov't?
- wo0dy, on 05/15/2009, -0/+3Thousands of years eh?

- zerinS4, on 05/15/2009, -1/+4The internets strike again.
- shadesuk, on 05/15/2009, -1/+3Yawn....
Its not the method you use to get the date its the smarts you use to protect yourself on the date. Its been like this for thousands of years.
Would you walk into a house at night after being invited by a stranger on the street? Nope so why the hell do people think C-List newspaper ads or any other medium are any safer ?
The only reason these stories keep coming back is because the press hates Craigslist because it ran away will all its classifieds revenue - ducttape36, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2::insert image of pedobear holding knife::
- Chouette4u, on 05/15/2009, -1/+3http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2009/05/1 ...
From that article, it sounds like she didn't literally just say "Mike", but said his entire screen name any maybe told the cops where she met him. - sharkd, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2It's a series of tubes!
Deadly, deadly tubes! - TheXuu, on 05/15/2009, -1/+3Personally I use Bonzi-Buddy for all of my Erotic Encounters.
- hymneforthedead, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2yeah, I mean, phifft, texting, waaay better man. seriously.
./S - eyepatch100, on 05/15/2009, -1/+3How do you even meet someone on AIM?
- JonTheGoose, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2Clearly, the key is to commit a few felonies.
- empraptor, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2see how all these people get attacked when they are offline? it's safe if you're online all the time. surgically attach yourself to a computer and be safe all your life!
- ultraseamus, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2Maybe you should try reading the article, it is real short, I promise.
- Hardataq, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2We don't need knife control laws, we need internet control laws. The internet is arming itself, and will viciously attack at random.
- davidg11, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2Wait. I can find hookers on AOL IM?
- Gloogle, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2i feel sorry that she died
- SigmaDraconis, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2lol wut
- DrummerAndrew, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2"This is why we can't have nice things."
- DrummerAndrew, on 05/15/2009, -0/+1RTFA. She was at a job fair, not on a date with the guy.
- omgwtflawl, on 05/15/2009, -0/+1Actually, many states have knife control laws that go above and beyond the gun control. My state disallows you from carrying a blade longer then 3 inches in your car, which makes me wonder how I'm gonna bring my Kabar when I move in July.
- gurudrew, on 05/15/2009, -0/+1In NY you can't carry a knife longer than 2 inches and is has to require two hands to open.
- Xaevier, on 05/15/2009, -0/+1She clearly meant Little Mikey, after the Poprocks incident he became very unstable.
