- giantAppleCore, on 10/12/2007, -4/+67Note the source... China has a tendency to prep up citizens, and then not offer proof... not that they're alone in doing that...
- olddirtycr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+38don't lie, its 10,000 more.
- deter1ii, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37His arms are shorter.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+33He's 6. He weighs about 40 lbs. Of course he can do a lot more. Couldnt you run faster when you were a kid, or do more pullups? Try being 200lbs and doing pushups as opposed to being 50lbs.
- scottmoss, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30I don't believe this, the current world record for 1 hour is 3,877. If true this is truly amazing. This would be one 6 year old that can take care of himself....
- Langford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Children, the answer to the world's energy needs.
- toxicredm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+243877 in one hour is a rate of 1.076944... per second. 10,000 in 3 hours 20 minutes is a rate of 0.833... per second, well within the record rate.
- falstaff, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23And here I thought there would be a video link.
Besides, 10k Shìzhì pushups are only around 3300 Metric pushups.
/sarc - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20it would also be easier for younger kids to do pushups because they don't weigh as much as adults. Still an amazing feat though.
- riklomas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Wow, that's like 9,999 more than I can do...
- olddirtycr, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21My guess is...more
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14I just did 8 million pushups in 3 minutes.

Yeah, well, when Chuck Norris does pushups, he doesn't push himself up, he pushes the earth down...and he can do it 100,000 times per hour! - VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Again, he's in KUNG FU SCHOOL.
He probably considers pushups for 4 hours as a roaring good time compared to sitting and meditating for 4 hours. - darkdantae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Perhaps you can move your legs quicker but that doesn't mean faster. My 24 yr old self would dominate my 12 yr old self in a foot race. I'm 6 or 7 inches taller, with a much longer stride.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12i would guess less because he'll weigh more
- DalekoProvidek, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11It's on the Internet; it *must* be true.
The BS meter is pegged. - jamesdwi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8well i was going to do 10 pushups, but since he did 10,000 ... i'll just consider it that he did mine.
- Tyseyh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8GO LITTLE MAN GO!
An to those people who said you cant even do one... damn i so hope ur jokin... i can do like...8 HAHA. - Namelessthinker, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9I wonder how much he can bench.
- derning, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9@ gregmo ...
He's in KUNG-FU school, you nimrod. All the popular celebrity monks are rocking that haircut this season. - fun4stuff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8this is just further evidence that an invasion from china is coming soon. this is just one man of their genetically engineered army to be.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6leg press.
- AriaStar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Certain haircuts are part of certain cultures.
- tdogg241, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I hope it's because you don't have arms.
- vawksel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I believe it. Why not? Sure it is a lot to us, but to someone who weighs 40 lbs, and arms are only probably 12? inches long, he's not moving a lot of mass very far.
There are marathon runners that can run for 12 or even 16 hours, so I totally believe this.
The kids muscles are just probably producing very low amounts of lactic acid. This is the same reason Lance Armstrong can ride a bike seemingly endlessly. Lance produces 6 μL/kg where most racers produce between 12 μL/kg to as much as 20 μL/kg. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lance_armstrong )
... So yeah, I believe it. - r0dney, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6What amazes me here is not that a 6 year old could do that many pushups, they have boundless energy at that age and don't weigh much, its that a 6 year old would have enough willpower to stay in one place doing pushups for that long. I don't know many 6 years olds that will stay still doing the same thing for more than a few minutes, let alone hours.
- brino11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yes his arms MAY be shorter, also, he probably doesn't weigh very much either, thus having less gravity to fight against... Having been a youth wrestler I know there are many kids that are in VERY good shape. This was probably easier than you think ... if it's even true at all. Also, I bet we won't be able to do nearly as many when he's older!!
- rages4calm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Rather he did it or not, for a kid his age to look like that is quite impressive and he shouldn't have any problems with any of the excercises they have to perform. Either way I believe that he did it, especially considering his weight. like Veamon said.
- mturn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5a hell of a lot less, given that he will weigh more, have longer arms (more torque on the joints, as well as farther distance to push), and have stiffer joints. hopefully he will have better things to do with his life when he is older, though he seems to have already wasted away the formative years of his life doing useless crap like this.
- SourWorm, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10I'm not sure exactly how true that is. Sure you weigh more as an adult, but your muscles are also much bigger.
- derek20cali, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Damn... I remember in sixth grade doing 100 pushups while the other kids in my class ran (I couldn't run at the time due to an injury). I can't even imagine doing more than that, let alone 10,000.
Also, for those of you discounting this because of his size, remember that he is also not as physically strong as an adult. He hasn't even hit puberty yet. - GhostCrab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That's when pushups come in real handy
- JDenigma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Regardless of the accuracy or lack thereof of this news item, this kid is still remarkably strong for his age. This reminds me of the movie "Unbreakable" because I'm in a position where I could be like a real life example of Samuel Jacksons charcter in a way. I say that because I happen to have Beckers muscular dystrophy of which I hold out hope that there will be break throughs in the future for treating and curing diseases. So this kid would be like my opposite much like Bruce Willis' charcter was Samuel Jacksons charcters opposite.
- oriolesfan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't know. Either they took that picture when he was resting for a bit or those ain't real pushups.
- mooreshyguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I dont think i will reach that number in my entire lifespan.
- fino35, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4dude, he is Chinese. ;)
- hackwrench, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Couldnt you run faster when you were a kid, or do more pullups?"
I honestly don't know. Why would I? I wasn't prone to carrying a pedometer or doing pullups.
All I know is that I catch my cousin's kids when I chase after them. - DRTtom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4well i can do like...12
- PrplHaze, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Damn, that is 50 a minute for 3 and a half hours - not bad, even if you ARE a pibsqueak.
I do doubt the accuracy though, maybe 7,000 - but I'm with giantAppleCore - simg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@JDenigma: for what its worth, I'm really sorry to hear you this problem. presumably you're exercising your legs to help reduce the symptoms? i've found an exercise called hindu squats _excellent_ for strengthening legs.
- zeiben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That rate is not to be believed. but I suppose, if the president of his school said so...
- HeyArnold, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6stop hatin on this kid!
he'll fly over here and whoop your ass!! :p - bbear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Video or it didn't happen.
- AnalystX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Anrkist and staggcharger88 are actually both right. I just watched the video of Pat "leg pressing" 1000 pounds. He was using his arms almost as much as his legs.
http://sm1.cbn.org//cbncom/current/PatRobertson_LegPress.wmv - neonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, even though he is 74, if he claims he can leg press 1,000lbs then he better show correct form, or take the weight down until he can. Not once did his legs come close to making a 90 degree angle, and he is constantly pushing with his arms. Hell I can do that.
- b0b0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@ Severious
Actually, he is doing zero Work. Remember, Work depends on displacement, not distance, and because by doing a pushup he is arriving in the same position he started in, he is doing no work. - Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks for rubbing it in.
- LiquidPenguin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This ought to be pretty cool. If they're waiving his tuition, (and if this is true), he's going to be someone to keep an eye on in ten years. Imagine if he becomes the next Bruce Lee?
- Harbinger67, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Good for him. I can do like, 10, but then again, I can also drive a car.
