Samurai sword umbrella. Sits comfortably on the line between cool and incredibly nerdy. - FelixDrylock, on 04/15/2009, -0/+22***** RAIN SUCKS!
- Ender17, on 04/15/2009, -0/+19this one is the definition of bad-ass
http://www.real-self-defense.com/umbrella.html - thephysicist, on 04/15/2009, -0/+16I ***** hate umbrellas being tall (6ft4) I find them dangerous, because average person when they hold them up it is level to my eye-line.
several occassionals almost lost an eye. - shutaro, on 04/15/2009, -1/+16***** RAIN!
- nadcraker, on 04/15/2009, -0/+14You mean Sting?
- Sogui, on 04/15/2009, -1/+14I punch my way through rain storms
- KSUdesigner, on 04/15/2009, -0/+10@texpundit: No, you are not necessarily living beyond your means if you use a credit card. I never said anything about HAVING to use a credit card. Personally I don't have a single credit card in my name, but a lot of credit cards have rewards programs. You could use your credit cards just to gain points in those rewards programs, pay your balance off in full every month and collect the rewards. Also, paying your credit cards on time every month can help build your credit. Credit cards are not inherently evil, people just tend to abuse them. And here we are back again at my original point–stupid people are the problem.

- Schralpy, on 04/15/2009, -0/+9And now over to Asian reporter Trisha Takanawa.
- borez, on 04/15/2009, -0/+9IMO the umbrella is one of man's ( or woman's ) greatest inventions. I came to this conclusion walking along London's embankment one day when the sky's opened and it started to absolutely piss it down. There she was, little old women selling hats and umbrellas, and I'm like: " You little beauty " so I bought one. Completely saved the day.
Umbrellas... ***** yeah! - KSUdesigner, on 04/15/2009, -2/+10Right, because sitting at your desk all day soaking wet makes you a real man.
- skeetshot, on 04/15/2009, -0/+8Tom, I'm standing here
- KineticShampoo, on 04/15/2009, -1/+9I want my Blade Runner umbrella. :3
- inactive, on 04/15/2009, -1/+9$100 for a ***** umbrella? Is that a joke?
- Formaldehydex2, on 04/15/2009, -0/+8I'm tired of buying ten dollar umbrellas that break every couple months, I should look into one of these.
- mikemehak, on 04/15/2009, -0/+7new low? What have you been inventing lately?
Would you prefer they were out inventing deadlier weapons or something? - UselessTrivia, on 04/15/2009, -0/+7No coincidence that most of these seem to be made by the japanese. They are dead serious about their umbrellas. I was there at the tail end of Typhoon season and you can't go anywhere in Tokyo without seeing them. They have umbrella racks everywhere, and whenever it rains the cheap plastic umbrellas that were 5 dollars yesterday go up to 10 dollars, presumably to punish foreigners who had no idea how much it rains there in the summer.
- KSUdesigner, on 04/15/2009, -0/+7Novelty items aren't part of the problem, people who spend outside of their means are the problem. If I can afford to buy a $100 umbrella then what is the problem? Even if I put it on a 20% interest credit card, what is the problem as long as I can afford the payments? It's not products or credit cards that are the problem, it's people being idiots with their money that are the problem.
- WriterSD, on 04/15/2009, -0/+7I want the Ambient Umbrella!
- aalmeida259, on 04/15/2009, -0/+6The Senz umbrella will probably fulfill my desire to be a stealth fighter pilot.
- Rudegar, on 04/15/2009, -0/+6maybe if it was a lightsaber and came with free bacon?
- asubigsaxy, on 04/15/2009, -1/+7meh, umbrellas get lost too easy, they have to be cheap. No way would I spend more than 20 bucks. Ikea makes a really nice one for like 8 bucks and it is huge.
- TheNyquilKid, on 04/15/2009, -1/+6"Umbrellas are just batons being passed around the world. When you find one you don't say "Someone must have lost this." You think "I just got the red umbrella.""
Obscure? - IIECONII, on 04/15/2009, -2/+7...a new low for inventors, but a new high for humidity and style!
- p014k, on 04/15/2009, -0/+5I prefer the Umbrella umbrella;

- SwimDrewid, on 04/15/2009, -0/+4What, no helicopter or machine-gun-firing umbrellas? Buried for inaccuracy.
- EvoIII8, on 04/15/2009, -0/+4Novelty? What are you talking about? I just bought this fantastic Margaritaville Margarita Maker and it is a useful and necessary appliance.
- JargonScott, on 04/15/2009, -0/+4Not to mention that unless you carry a beach sized umbrella, you still get wet from the waist down.
- HorseTeeth, on 04/15/2009, -0/+4Where is the "nuBrella"? http://nubrella.com/
- DouglasQ, on 04/15/2009, -0/+4How bad-ass can an umbrella really be?
- peteyb1313, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3if the umbrella tells me when it's going to *****' rain!
- Mship, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3I had to log in and digg the both of you up. Im 6"4 and i dont buy an umbrella unless it is at least 3-4 feet long.
- LonelyTylenoL, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3April showers bring may flowers; the Mayflower brings Pilgrims to a new world; Pilgrims bring new ideas, culture and religion; Religion brings new ideas to the table that can cause conflicts with existing ones; Conflict of different ideas can bring arguments and Rumors; Arguments and Rumors can lead to fights; Fights can lead to bitter hatred and war; War leads to the loss of lives and total chaos; Which can lead to destruction of modern civilization.
- davidg11, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3Anyone check out the other items on the page?

- vl002001, on 04/15/2009, -1/+4is 100 too much for an umbrella? not really if it has an unconditional lifetime guarantee
if a regular umbrella is $15, then 7 of them would get you to the cost of a badass umbrella
go through 2/year because the quality sucks, the cost is made up in 3.5 years. - EvoIII8, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2Shut up before I beat your ass.
- HiMcDonough, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2Now that is one bad ass mofo umbrella
- lavy112, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2I love rain...and now I guess I found a nice umbrella...;)
- philforhumanity, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2I like these umbrellas that stand upright when closed. They are much more artistic looking, and stand next to a doorway without being ugly or in the way.

http://www.amazon.com/Kobold-Umbrella-Zenith-Slim- ... - gregmo, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2Now there's innovation. I always found it very odd that umbrellas have never changed design - even over decades. Nice.
