- dominasian, on 10/12/2007, -8/+186probably one of the saddest things i have ever heard, things like this make me want to cry
i only hope the children never have to experience pain like this again - sauron256, on 10/12/2007, -12/+135I only hope that they find the guy who did this and lock him up with Bubba to be pounded in the ass every hour until he dies of internal bleeding.
People like that are just plain sick. - virtualball, on 10/12/2007, -3/+108Aw... I felt so bad for the kid, it actually hurt me more he was holding the game because...well...i dunno, he seemed more innocent. :(
I hope he lives a happier life :/ - rawM3TAL, on 10/12/2007, -2/+81Maybe because he's a kid, and that's the only ***** thing that's comforting him after he just watched his parents get MURDERED!?
- rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -4/+70Wow Rafty, perhaps the parents were just decent human beings in the wrong place in the wrong time and it was a botched car jacking.
That's really provoking killers.
I can see where you're coming from. - thumperings, on 10/12/2007, -5/+62agreed.. my stomach is in knots . the Nintendo part really messed with my head.
- saikhan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+57@rafty
Thanks for being a total ass. I mean, it just makes sense that a mother and father of two children living in a rented house three miles away from their murder site would deserve it. Absolutely undeniable. - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46"Why was he holding the game in the first place?"
Yeah I'll give this a shot anyway although it seems like common sense. I had something similarly traumatic happen to me when i was younger. While I was still in grave danger I had to make sure I had my belongings with me before I ran to safety. The brain isn't very logical when it's put under extreme life threatening duress. Usually you're at the mercy of your "fight or flight" mechanisms.
For 5 years old I give the kid credit for seeking help and not crawling to the back of a closet and staying there. He's pretty brave. - vhold, on 10/12/2007, -3/+39@Raftysworld: That is utterly incomprehensible. Please look up the definition of inaccurate.
- rnelsonee, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38re: Rafty's comments, or any other comment that can be construed as being less-than-sensitive.
Digg may just be living out it's 15 minutes now, but do you all realize in like, 2 days, if you type in the names of the victims, this page will be one of the top 3 results on Google? Imagine if this kid wants to learn more about his parents, and googles them 10 years from now, and then sees inappropriate comments. Say what you want, but we should all strive to think twice before we post. - rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+35I love these articles because I can find idiots like you to add to my ban list...
So ...uh...if you all could line up and post under this comment that would make things a lot quicker for me...
Thanks. - PuyoDead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29It really does just astonish me when people like Raftysworld simply don't take the extra few minutes to actually think deeper. I mean, for someone to just think, "ehh, they must have deserved it", and get on here to post that stray thought, it's nothing short of amazing. Yea, I know, not everyone is capable of complete thought processes, but in this context, a human conscious should have kicked in and said, "hey, wait... that's a bit heartless."
My hat's off to you, Rafty, you've made a fine example of what is "wrong with the world today". - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30This seems to me just a random crime in which no one will ever be arrested for, which is sad that this is the state of the world we live in.
also...
Raftysworld=BLOCKED, and glad too - SlappyMc, on 10/12/2007, -6/+32you stupid idiot.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26how about instead of execution he pay for the kids' upbringing, he took away their parents how about he help pay for the things the parents would have (school/food/clothing) while also having the kids in a great foster home
- maymats, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26@rafty
i buried you as inaccurate - LilRabbitFooFoo, on 08/11/2008, -3/+25And, therefore, I think that lubricants of all kinds should be banned in prison.
- Wolfwoodxlv, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Batman?
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20I don't know but if you ever ask if it blends you're going to be #15.
- Chakz, on 10/12/2007, -10/+27This is Jack Thompson and I demand to know what game he was holding.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+23The guy that did this should be executed.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18oh gee, I don't know maybe subconsciously he was holding on to the last remnants of his innocence by holding onto the Nintendo system (GBA/DS most likely)?
- staplez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14@Rafty
Wow, I'm usually pretty cold hearted. But your statement even blows my mind.
Without any understanding of the situation, only knowing this child will never see his parents again, you blame his parents for potentially doing something.
Mind you, there is no way for you to know if the parents did anything. Or if the killer is just insane or a serial killer.
I mean your comment just wowed me. I realize everyone else has already basically said what I said, but I just had to repeat it.
Congratulations on having the most demented post I have ever seen in any forum or bboard.
Seriously, you're special. I truly hope to never ever meet you in real life. - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15The problem is if you ban rocko all the replies disappear as well.
- Nick22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I just love how people are part of the usual "race to make the funniest comment in a article" that happens with most digg storys. Guys, theres just some storys you shouldnt joke about.
This is really sad, I cant possibly imagine how much it would suck if that happend to me, especially at that age :( - MaximusIGN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14>>>>I mean be realistic, no one makes the decision to kill another person unless given MAJOR provocation.
Are you insane? Let's say this was a racial hate crime, where some good 'ole boy didn't like the fact that the father snuck across the border and decided to take matters in his own hands.
Or when Timothy McVeigh killed hundreds or 9/11. Are you justifying all those deaths?
Man, you either didn't take the time to think before you wrote or are severely twisted. I hope the former. - reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Reminds me of the TV show 'Dexter'.
That kid is going to be messed up for life. - ryodoan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Yet again, another person I feel proud to block: Raftysworld
- tcwood00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12@ Kixsterr
"The thing I don't really understand is that his sister is 13, yet she didn't do anything, and apparently hasn't said anything either."
the daughter was only 13 months....not years...
feel so bad....good luck to the kids....god be with them - Blisshead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I tend to agree that a person who can kill in front of little kids should be executed, or locked in the darkest hole we have, whatever is currently cheaper.
This kind of story is really heartbreaking. Pray for those kids, if your inclined. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12So... if he was holding onto a model of a Ferrari car, they should step up and start a fund to help the kids as well, I'm just trying to figure out your logic. I'm all for helping out the little guy but the Nintendo thing was just a coincidence.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Events like this make it difficult to relate to having a "normal life." It will be important for him to have a support group of friends and family that understand this.
- Tsuroerusu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12@ mastershake1
"Why just execute him, he should be brutally and publicly tortured for the enjoyment of this poor five year old.
Bloodlust in cases like this isn't just justifiable, it's necessary."
I think this kid has seen enough killing and blood, what you are proposing is exactly what he and his sister does NOT need. I say lock the killer up for life. - thepxc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I want to hug this child. :(
- saikhan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10^ and I wont be able to contribute to his negative diggs too!
- 13thfloor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I had to call 911 on August 30, 2001 (yeah, the date is forever burned in my memory) when two apartments down a woman was stabbed multiple times in the chest by her boyfriend while her 3 year old girl was present. Unfortunately, when he tried to slit his own throat he wasn't serious enough to do a good job and my call saved his life. Another neighbor and I were able to coax the little girl to come out of the apartment as she had to walk past the attacker. If he had made any kind of motion towards the girl, I would have had to finish what he started - I think you know what I mean. I often wonder about that little girl as I look at my niece who is the same age as she is. Sad. Sad all around. He got life in prison.
- Rikkochet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Raftys, are you always retarded, or just right now?
- V1be, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Witnesses saw the gunman fleeing on foot from the corner of Still and Badger streets." They saw the gunman fleeing, but didn't call for help/nor run to assist the kid?
- ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Yes, what a ***** up product placement.
- sahaskatta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9thank god he spared the kids. they are very lucky that they survived and have someone to care for them now. they definitely didn't deserve this.
the article said it wasn't a random killing so i am still wondering what the parents might have been involved with or might have done. - markperia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I just get so choked up on news like this. I feel so sorry for the kid. I can't even imagine whats going on in the kids head right now. He must be so confused and hurt.
I hope he gets raised well. Kids who had severe emotional trauma like his should be taken extra special care for. - cazoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8@Raftysworld, so by your definition a victim of crime is always somehow asking to be victimized? wow you're a moron.
- Atlantics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6NO.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It happened in San Francisco, there's not really a redneck population to speak of.
- Maynza, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9I'm not ashamed to say I cried for a good 30 minutes about this. That is one of the saddest stories I have ever heard. I have younger siblings around his age and the fact that he kept his gameboy just kills me inside it shows his absolute innocence and I wish no child ever had to go through what this child experienced. He doesn't even know the gravity of what happened because he is too young.
- Lososaurus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Can somebody please keep an eye on this story, post a followup when more information arises.
- TrueVox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6To each his own, it takes all kinds, etc. I just want to make that clear before I air my opinion on the matter.
I've never much been a fan of execution, personally. Too permanent. Too much room for error. Unless someone can promise me a 0.000% fail rating, I intend to keep my direction on that matter. Granted, life in prison is more expensive, but perhaps if we made the laws a bit less strict? Made some smaller crimes that currently carry jail time into fineable offenses, or something of that nature. I'm not sure if that would suffice, but I assume there's some way to make it work.
As I said above, just my 2 cents on the matter. I have no charitable feelings for the creature who did this (I can't imagine what I'd want done to someone who did this to my son, not that I'd be in any position to do anything in the same situation), nor do I wish him rehabilitation (I'm not convinced it's possible), I'd just hate for the wrong guy to get killed and this beast to still be out there. - 13thfloor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It seems worse because we have better access to the news.
- diehard2k5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's one thing to kill someone, but to kill them in front of their small children??!!
- notorious., on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's only Jan 16 and there have been roughly 14 murders in San Francisco.
What the hell is going on in my city? -
