- afruff23, on 10/11/2007, -3/+94This title is wrong. It should say "31 Different Ways To Lace Your Shoes".
- jpatch, on 10/11/2007, -2/+43He could have, but if he had, he'd be reusing the title from when this was on digg nearly a year ago. http://digg.com/offbeat_news/31_Different_Ways_To_Lace_Up_Your_Shoes
- Khac, on 10/11/2007, -4/+42I remember having a test in kindergarden where we had to tie our shoes for class. I wore my special velcro teenage mutant turtle shoes and they automatically passed me. Because of skipping that test I've never learned how to actually tie my on shoes :(.

"31 different ways to LACE your shoes" - Homunculiheaded, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9there is a section on actual different tying techniques (as opposed to lacing)
this one: http://www.shoe-lacing.com/shoelace/secureknot.htm
I've been using for probably 2 years now. I had one pair of shoes that was always coming untied on me, this knot fixed that (without any of the hassle of a double knot). It ties pretty quick and unties like a regular shoelace knot, worth learning.
As stupid as this site may initially seem, there are some really useful knots there, sometimes the best ideas are questioning the things you take absolutely for granted (like how you tie your shoes). - mdigirol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7i love my vans slip ons too much to start wearing shoes with laces ever again.
- Daiken, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Sigh, title is incorrect. The link is for different methods of LACING your shoes, not TYING. If you want the page on how to TIE your shoes, here's the link: http://www.shoe-lacing.com/shoelace/tying.htm
- Toupee, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Damn. I thought it was going to be different techniques for tying your shoelaces. Me, I've been a sucker for Rabbit Ears forever. Not crazy enough to try the... uh, hard way.
- fjackie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5As the old proverb says, " I cried because I had no shoes til I met a man who had no feet.
So I took his shoes...." - TuxedoMax, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I'm digging this 'cause it's a dupe of the first story i ever dugg. now I'm all nostalgic.

- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Bet the two year old kid who lives down my lane can do all the 31 ways.
- afbase, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Definitely trying the bicycle lace method for ice hockey next time i buy new wax laces. Digg++;

- coldthing, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2been ladder lacing my grinders for year, since I was like in middle school.
though my boyfreind is the master of bizare and esoteric knots, hes a sailor - oneoverzero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2i submitted the zipper.
he tells me that it is popular with the firemen now - nickgarvey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I've tied my shoes using the Ian Knot for years. So useful.
- OwdenBowden, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I am just impressed that there is a site devoted to shoe laces.
- fremeer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2actually i found this quite useful, the double starting knot is actually very good and creates a secure holding knot, also didnt know about granny knots and stuff. i like the secure knot its very good and i think when i get some new shoes(the only shoes i have with laces are my soccer shoes with the knotting on the sides) ill try some of these
- Memnochxx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I found this site last year and have been wearing my laces in the zipper style since. I've also switched to tying the Ian Knot. It's faster and I think it works better.
- yoshitomi, on 10/11/2007, -12/+14@weeeezzll: Alright tough guy, calm down, it's only a shoe-lace.
- palehorse864, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The best knot on this site is of course the Ian knot. Tie your shoes in a second and with much more symmetry (and security) than a standard tying.
- DanoTime, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I love how the first dozen comments here are just stupid drivel... This was interesting, well documented and expertly written. An amazing article that opened my eyes to something that was previously mundane and 'straight laced.'
I wish there were more articles like this - dugg. - fremeer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2most of them are ways to put the laces around your shoes, some are designed for looks, other for ease of use, others for certain activities and others for a mix of them. same goes with the knots on the site, one of em is very fast to tie when u learn it, some are very secure and some are used to tie up laces with not much length.
- MortiMouse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I had no idea there were so many and with names no less!
- Nineless, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Wow, great site.
This of course asks for different laced and tied shoes at all times... - davidkimchee, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I hear the Russian army will beat you if your shoelaces come undone. Theyve come up with a knot that will NEVER come undone unless you undo it yourself.
Problem is...my brain is swiss cheese and I cant remember how to do it. Anyone know how to do this knot? Ive been searching the web for years and cant find it. This is the mother of all knots....including Don. - Skanadian, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3I just googled those and you bought them at Hot Topic. Nothing to say but lulz.
I found the footbag laces from this site a while back, I've been using them ever since. - fatmuscle, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5this has totally opened my eyes to the world of lacing shoes
- OmegaOverride, on 11/11/2008, -0/+1cool site
http://www.repcodes.com - NintendoFan, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3I've been using this site for a while now, was looking for a site to figure out how to do a straight lacing on a new pair of sneakers since it looks better, and wound up finding this site. The guides for each style are easy and I now have checkerboard lacing on 2 of my 4 pairs of sneakers and have only gotten complements on em. Took around 5 minutes to do, but it made my sneakers look infinitely better and it's great to have shoes look radically different and get positive comments on em. It's not really important, but a little flair here and there is fine.

- astx813, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Not to be a whiner, but this is SO "duplicate." This same page has made the front page three times before (although under the original URL @ fieggen.com). Or do we say that "flag as duplicate" doesn't apply after 300 days (last time it made the front page was 311 days ago, I've been using Straight (Fashion) Lacing on my dress shoes ever since.
- gutistg, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2I melted the ends of my shoelaces together so that I would never have to tie them again. Thus I can put the valuable energy I would have wasted by learning how to tie my shoe-laces and, subsequently, tying them every day towards something more productive:
Finding my god damned shoes. - neozeed, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2how is this in the news section? what's next, ways to floss?

- michael0010, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I tuck mine in. :]
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1There is a section on the same site for tying shoelaces as well, and that is far more interesting...
