- RadiantBeing, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2312 in 3 boys liars, study infers.
- tonicboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+209Seriously. Man, if I had internet pron when I was growing up, I never would've left the house. Back in my day, we had to walk 5 miles in the snow to get our pron.
- mozzep, on 10/12/2007, -2/+197jjaacckk, why would you want pictures of adolescent boys masturbating?
- bitt3n, on 10/12/2007, -6/+158OK, 1 out of 3 is porn, another 1 out of 3 actually uses a girl... [eyes shift to last boy...]

- sndchsr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+95the rest of them are having sex with their teachers
- revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+85Some are boys. And some are hot teachers.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+85and some are nasty nasty school girls.
- Kardde, on 10/12/2007, -4/+83In other obvious news, it was learned today that the sky is, in fact, blue.
- mikev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+71What are girls?
- VeganBob, on 10/12/2007, -3/+65This just in: 1 out of 3 boys admit to the sky being blue.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+63Wow
70 percent of girls look at porn?
For some odd reason I don't buy that.. - herrshuster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+56yeah, and they call them clothing catalogs
- asubigsaxy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+50girls read porn
- Leomarth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+48I'm sure that this will be used for some sort of moral outrage movement. People who panic and go straight to the nanny government piss me off. PARENT YOUR KIDS IF YOU DON"T WANT THEM LOOKING AT PORN! Otherwise, realize that they're hormone filled and this is what they want to see. Nobody is lurking behind the freaking bush and saying "Hey kid, go home and check out my website. Later on, come by my place and we'll get it on!"
- juicebag, on 10/12/2007, -4/+50Girls watch porn?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+50most unsurprising results ever.
- fareed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+47Well if the other 92% of the girls weren't so prudish we wouldn't be discussing this issue, would we?
- jkalow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+40the article said 70% of girls had viewed porn at least once (this includes "accidental or unwanted exposure")
only 8% of females had viewed porn "too many times to count" compared to 1/3 of boys - naughtyboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+39We all know that would be 0 out 3, meaning girls are way better liars.
- ROFLance, on 10/12/2007, -2/+38Now lets find out how many girls are heavy porn users.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+36"for the other 2 thirds we have no data".

- roxics, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26I agree, where are these girls?
Speaking of which, have you ever wondered where all these porn sites get all these hot girl-next-door types from that do all this wild stuff?
Why can't I seem to meet these girls in real life. All I ever see are fat chicks or hot chicks with really stuck up attitudes. - halavais, on 10/12/2007, -9/+33@str3ama: "The only group people offended by something like this are the deeply religious and the preachy family groups"
I think that's a vast overstatement. I would hope that most kids are sexually mature enough to be exposed to most porn by that age. But it's not an absolute: not ALL kids at ALL ages should be exposed to ALL porn. My friend's 8 year old should not have to see bestiality when searching for pictures of horses. Do you really think parents should be in the position of having to explain to young kids that "horse lover" has more than one meaning.
So, it's not "only" the deeply religious who worry about the easy access to porn. I, for one, wish that we could have an open dialogue about this that allowed for the production of age-appropriate pornography. E.g., porn that made clear that ATM is not something that your first love is going to be a fan of, or that she really ought to be a fan of. As it stands, the sexualization of children already forces kids to grow up too fast. - Tolzmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Only one 1 in 3?
- fucter, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26hehe, im a porn site owner, i wish more of these kids would find something else to do (no credit card == wasting my bandwidth)
- slantyeyed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20nice article, i think it's ABNORMAL if boys DON'T surf porn on their computers.
- SmokeyBong, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25My name is ........ and i have a porno addiction.
- InternetUser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Oh yes.
- carbon12, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21For what its worth, I'm 22, living in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada and I have some porn open in another browser right now. So yeah...
Mod me down, or up, whatever you want. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+199 months of snow? wish wish it could be called that consistent. Its more like one week snow, one week sun, one week rain, one sun, another sun, some hail, some more snow, much more snow, sun, and snow while its sunny.
Considering these statistics, and being a teenage boy in alberta.... I am NOT suprised - jprater, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20how much money did they spend just to find the obvious?
- neuromuse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Buy it. I'm a girl, and I think a lot of the driving force behind girls viewing porn is curiosity. "What does my boyfriend look at?" "How does he want me to act?"
- wintermute0, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Survey says: 70% of schoolgirls are naughty naughty schoolgirls.
- kingkilr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17I'm more interested in the fact that girls view porn in same sex groups.
/not a pervert am a HS student! - inactive, on 05/12/2008, -2/+18I like how the article basically editorializes it and says that there's something fundamentally wrong with looking at porn. It also presents quotes without quotation marks - for instance:
Though being curious about sexually explicit media may seem a ‘natural’ part of early adolescence, porn is a major presence in the lives of youth. The media environment in Alberta homes makes access to porn easy for teens and viewing pornography at a young age can set children up for problems later on, said Sonya Thompson, a masters graduate student at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, and author of the study. “We don’t know how we are changing sexual behaviours, attitudes, values and beliefs by enabling this kind of exposure and not talking with kids about it in any meaningful way,” Thompson said.
In this sentence, it basically insinuates that parents should be restricting viewing:
And while the majority of teens surveyed said their parents expressed concern about sexual content, that concern hasn’t led to discussion or supervision, and few parents are using available technology to block sexual content.
Obviously whoever's writing that is either playing up a bias for someone else, or they personally believe in the right-wing religious ideals. They're presenting the facts of the study and then manipulating them into saying "kids need a collective intervention", when there's nothing to suggest that's true. -
