- oneredpaperclip, on 10/10/2007, -1/+29I think she can afford it!
- sickboy932, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26Maybe she can give $1 for each person in her studio audience and make them all producers.
- boxed, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17These guys started with a zero dollar budget, and raised money $1 at a time! Amazing what can be done with lots of people working together.
- warebloke, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16Just $1 he should ask for $100k
- Bajeda, on 10/10/2007, -3/+131 second of film and 90 minutes of credits? Meh, probably still better than most of the crap Hollywood puts out.
- purr, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11uh, you know that instead of $1, she's going to end up donating like $1000+.
- seanherman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10How about they save all the money they'll waste traveling to meet oprah, and write her a letter instead? After all, overhead is the biggest challenge any non-profit faces, after they actually get the money, and this is a sort of mockery of that problem.
Otherwise, it seems like a great cause, just makes me wonder about their management capabilities. - griz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Kiefer Sutherland Donated $600.23. Why .23? Why not .24?
- rockefeller, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8How do you drive 10,000 miles across "America" when it's only ~3,000 miles wide?
- spectre_25gt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5They're probably using Mapquest.
- Ptryxxx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Perhaps he is taunting the fans with a CLIFFHANGER!
- ShogunWarPig, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4If its good enough for Jack Bauer, it should be god enough for Oprah
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Because in season 7, the terrorists hijack hour 24.
- brettlyda, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7Dude, it's not just Kiefer and Colbert signing on - they've also got Andy Dick, Tom Green, Christina Ricci & Brett Lyda to name a few more. THIS THING IS HOT!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3including her at home audience
- Toast1185, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Hell, if someone drove 10,000 miles just to ask me for a dollar I'd even give it to them, so long as they could prove it of course. This is the least interesting suspense ever.
- fisheyeguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3think small
- D3koy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5She'll pay for gas, have them on the show, pay to make the audience producers and buy these guys a new bus....
If I had that much money I would...
On a side note, I drove across America and it was way less than 10,000 miles....they need a better GPS - d3mps3y, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Proud producer of the 1Second Film. Only question is that won't it cost a lot of money and gas to drive 10,000 miles to ask for Harpos' $1?
- Nick22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I think its pretty obvious hes being sarcastic...
- GhostWithToast, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Maybe she can pay for the gas, too. That would be nice.
- djphatjive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Look at the map, there not taking a strait shot. Its kind of around the southern rim.
- evanjunkie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2How many times do we have to repeat that the bus is running on VEGGIE OIL and they are not going to be wasting any GAS!!!
- kolop1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3It seems driving 10,000 miles to get $1 donated to charity is a waste. They could send more money to charity by taking the money they would have spent on gas, and donating it them selves.
Oprah has nothing to prove, she donates lots of money to charity every year. - Shorties, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yeah, but its going to be hilarious if she isn't in chicago when they get there, yes she films her show in Chicago, but when she isn't filming she lives in her 10+ Million dollar home here in Montecito (Which is part of Santa Barbara California). They better be damn sure that she is in Chicago when they get there.
- legallyblonde, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Awesome: we are changing the world one second at a time! Buck up Oprah, all of us are smarter than one of us.
- sandfish, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I was gonna say 10,000 miles......? The US is roughly 3000 miles across...
- smurf22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Instead of 1 dollar she gives them a car.
- fisheyeguy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3check the film's site: http://www.the1secondfilm.com
drupal powered, open-source, and pretty rad. - mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I hoped I wouldn't have to add a sarcasm tag.. sigh.
- wishninja, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2ummm I think there is a shorter route.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I know what you mean.. but if I were a neocon I probably wouldn't like Colbert too much.. :)
- cello, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This seems like a cool project, but for the record -- Andy Dick sucks bad.
- koick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1WTF? http://roadtooprah.com/map . Road *TO* Oprah and they start in LA and go to Chicago?? Um, hello?, she lives most of the year in Santa Barbara, CA.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Thank you.
- koick, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2If the third of five social issues they're pushing is *Global Warming*, then why are they driving a *school bus* 10,000 miles around the US?
- cello, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Hmm, the wisdom of the mob? Not so sure about that.......
- jimmywong, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1She's not only going to give them a dollar. She will likely give them a package or some profound amount.
- andrewlevy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1will this buy me a spot on imdb?
- thedarkrabbit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1SHE WILL EAT THEM!!!
- boxed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1it's the start of a 5 Phase Plan that grows "one-second at a time". You can read their plan online: http://www.the1secondfilm.com/5phaseplan
or download their PDF: http://the1secondfilm.com/files/5_phase_plan.pdf
I think it's a pretty awesome idea.
if they get Oprah involved, even at $1, they will be well on there way. - asspants, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So they're wasting all that gas and money on food to drive to oprah's crib to get one ***** dollar?
- xike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I wish they had a different charity. Global Fund for Women is nice and all, but wouldn't feeding starving Africans be a bit more productive?
- quaxon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1honestly i counldnt tell whether you were being sarcastic or not. i dunno if youve been around the other threads lately but neocons actually communicate just like that and take themselves very seriously.
- h4mx0r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They'll be spending all that 'profit' to charity in funds to make this drive just to get one dollar.
- Ngai, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1did anyone notice on their website that Keifer gave them 400 and Kevin bacon gave them 40?...
- chepnut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1how much money is it going to take to produce a film about driving around the country! They are already $169,710.19! whatever the final count is, I bet I can do it for half that. So I think I am going to ask people to donate $.50 for my 30 second film movie
- darthmdh, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Yaaarrr! Another potential mutiny on HMS Stupidity foiled by Captain Obvious!
- Punk27, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1hju0i80u
- evanjunkie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If Oprah give them $1, and their tour gets a lot of publicity, then Oprah's fans will most likely give thousands and thousands of dollars to be a part of something that she endorses. It's like her "my favorite things" segment, where businesses get SLAMMED whenever Oprah mentions she likes their handbags or hair products. The lady is a tastemaker, that's for sure.
