    It's one thing if the second page only has one single item on it and no conclusion or anything, but Cracked's page separation is generally fine.

I suspect that there's a fair bit of turbulence near the rim of the mine, where any wind would interact with a non-windy body of air. You might also get a weird sort of toroidal current where the fast air above has lower pressure, sucking air up from the mine, only to have to replenish that air (so more air gets sucked down in some other area).

    Either way, risky for helicopters and other aircraft, though of course passenger planes fly way too high to be affected noticeably.

I never even realized it was a big deal until one day I saw our island being featured on Ripley's Believe It or Not. I guess it's because I've gotten so used to it that it seems normal to me.

It used to be common for people to hang on to the airstrip fence and let the jet blast from departing airplanes blow you away. After many years, they finally built a second fence around the first fence because they considered it a safety issue.

  • SpencerMc, on 08/19/2008, -0/+7I remember in High School I would just look up blocked sites using babelfish, translating English to English (or anything else, really). You have to view it in a frame, but it's a minor inconvenience. Not sure if they've fixed this little oversight since then.
