- LogicBomB, on 10/11/2007, -2/+47As a geek, I go to normal places to get away.
To be 100% honest, it's nice to get away from the wires and screens for a while. On vacation or while camping I want to snap if I so much as hear someone's phone go off. - Rukaribe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Pictures with words on them don't count as pictures in my book.
- bloodytemplar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13I've been to the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton (the location of Quark's Bar, mentioned in the article) twice. While things are a little pricey there, it's a lot of fun for a Trek fan. In Quark's Bar, Quark actually runs the place, coming by your table to ask you how the food is, etc., and a drunken Klingon comes by to harass you every once in a while. I had the Romulan Warbird (read: grilled chicken), and the drunken Klingon insulted me, saying only a pathetic human would ruin a delicious bird like that by cooking it. :)
Good times. Highly recommended. - ZapWizard, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12When in the world did PowerPoint presentations become the proper way to publish on the web?
- thcobbs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10If I want to read a power point presentation...... I'll watch in POWERPOINT.... not by clicking on jpegs of the finished slide.
- sjbdallas, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11All great ideas. I like hitting different baseball stadiums but not for sponsor reasons, just for baseball reasons.
I send my kid to spacecamp every year and he loves it. I always wanted to go. - GloverCom, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Let me save you from a hideous slide show and several ad views:

We ended up booking it the night before, and I was pleasantly surprised. - dgbradl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4What the hell? I thought this post was going to have actual pictures on it. I don't give a ***** about a slideshow some Jackass put together in paint.
- drlha, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4My friends and I despite not being huge ST geeks always go there for a few "Warp Core Breaches", and get utterly ***** faced in the process. ;)
- bankhead, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Opryland doesn't even exist, I stopped reading after that line.
- BlackCow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Notice most of them are in California. *Sigh* I was born on the wrong coast.

- elchuy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Comi-Con is missing. It's a great time. I saw the first episode of Lost there before anybody else saw it.

- NielZ, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I've been to Campzone for a few years - an outdoor lan with everyone sitting in tents/caravans for 14 days. That was pretty geeky i guess. ^_^
www.codemasterscampzone.com - nestafett, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Pics included?
i was hoping that they would would be pics of what the article was talking about not drawings. - thesutex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1that star trek thing at the hilton in vegas was awesome :p i stumbled over it backpacking through usa, and i loved it :p nothing like drinking klingon blood, served from a ferengi, hæhæ
- 0crabby0, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Here you go
http://www.spacecamp.com/details.php?cat=Space&program=Adult+Programs
We hope you enjoy your stay at The Space and Rocket Center. - miriclaire, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Dugg down for NOT being news-worthy. What is this site coming to?
- Koushiro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1So it's said, the Star Trek bar in Vegas, like all things in Vegas, sucks.
- johneyoung, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1No GenCon? Where's the RPG love? Either way, I'll be joining the geek ranks as they sack Indianapolis this year. Huzzah!
- martoq, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Isn't the whole point of a vacation to get away from something your ordinary do and do something your ordinarily wouldn't?
- theNazz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1If you go to Quark's Bar at the Vegas Hilton be certain to order a 'warp core breach' ... THAT is a good drink!
BTW, I also am credited for hosting the largest wedding at the Star Trek Experience... I'd post the website the pictures are hosted on, but I know somebody out there would be an ***** about it.
Still, Quark's is a great time! - StephenCIreland, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1last year, went from ireland to >
boston - went to swapfest at MIT and toured analog devices
santa clara - went to halted electronics, the apple company store and the computer history museum
san fransisco - apple store and radioshack :P
it took a week and was the geekiest vacation ever!!! - slash128gnr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Cyrodiil is lovely this time of the year.
- poxoe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Great pics ;) But I prefer to spend my vacation on sofa and voting on http://PickyPorn.com (Digg-Like Social Porn Network)...
- zeejay, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1QuakeCon in Dallas? To make it a full-on geekfest, requires a pilgrimage to Mesquite, a few miiles east of Dallas, home of id, and birthplace of the FPS. To find id, just look for the parking lot with all the Ferraris.
- LostInTheWired, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Pshh. Tour agency nothing. If you live here in Huntsville, AL (Yeah! We're number 7!), about every 5 years, the 5th graders citywide get to go to Space Camp for free. (I was in one of those lucky years, but I was hospitalized for "fever of unknown origin". It must have been conspiracy.) It's pretty damn awesome, and Space Camp is actually tons of fun (In my job, I go in and out of the Marshall Space Flight Center all the time. They have coolest Mars colonization simulation!) I highly recommend the Space Camp one. I hear great memories from all me friends. ;_;
- BalooUrsidae, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Trek is so mainstream. How did Star Trek Convention make the list and not Furry Convention?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1These are *geeky* vacations...not *freaky* vacations.
- Zippo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'm taking a vacation with five of my friends this July. We're driving from Toronto to Baltimore for Otakon; then on our way back, we're visiting New York City so we can visit FAO Schwarz, The Apple Store, and Nintendo World...
Now THAT's a vacation :D - haggie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Now if they could just get women to go to the same vacation destinations....
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'd say to watch out for the one with the thermal detonator!
- JamesSaveker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1If you go to Quark's Bar at the Vegas Hilton be certain to order a 'warp core breach' - It is pretty impressive looking with the dry ice and just the shear size of it - http://www.flickr.com/photos/james_saveker/190821978/in/set-72157594200948475/
Oh and the Klingon looked at my mobile phone (moto razor) and said call that a razor then proceeded to show me his fake klingon knife thingy. was funny at the time - h0m3styl3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2quark's bar is not all it's cracked up to be. I took a trip to vegas when I turned 21 and it was "ok". I questioned if most of the employees ever watched any star trek at all.
- SanTe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1My geek vacation: My longtime girlfriend / life partner and I are celebrating 10 years together this August. We're going to Portland, OR for a long weekend that will be centered around visiting Ground Kontrol ( http://www.groundkontrol.com ), one of the best classic video game arcades in the country. Yes, she's awesome. :)
- perfectsilence, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0comic con in san diego!
- Kiggle, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2My dad took me out to Vegas for my 21st birthday last year just so we could hit up Quark's.
I mean *****, everyone goes to a bar on their 21st right? My pops decided, might as well make it _THE_ ***** bar. Greatest dad in the world. He took me to the 30th anniversary convention in Hunstville, AL back when I was in 6th grade too. I am so ***** spoiled. Thats right, I met Leonard Nemoy when I was only as high as his belt muahahaha! -
