- navitatl, on 11/22/2007, -0/+15I've been to Bishop's castle, and met the guy too. It is really impressive and beautiful. The guy is a total nut.
- phnx0221, on 11/22/2007, -0/+6Those were fascinating pictures! And the stories behind them were great too. I liked the graveyard sweeper who collected ceramic cups and other dishes, and used them to build a mansion of mosaic. That was really cool.
- guitarh3ro, on 11/22/2007, -0/+5I've been to Loveland Castle...it's really gorgeous, and it comes off as a real castle too. I think it's on the river (if I remember correctly), which makes it even cooler.
- BoneheadFarker, on 11/22/2007, -0/+4Most brilliant people are completely out of their tree. It just goes with the territory...
- ostracize, on 11/22/2007, -1/+5How can anyone be that stupid. A google cache for a site with pictures is useless. Why don't you people get this?
- darksky100, on 11/22/2007, -0/+3They have a Flickr set of the first one...

Tarodi Var is a castle in Sopron, Hungary which was built by one family in the 1950s. It is complete with turrets, bridges, arches and towers. Part of it is open to the public, and is filled with dusty antique furniture and forgotten old paintings. - UncleHenry, on 11/22/2007, -0/+1I actually live in Loveland, and have been to the castle a few times. It's pretty cool. Loveland seems to be known for Castles, as we have that one, and "Castle Skateland", a roller rink modeled after a castle. My town is quite an odd one.
- CoryTrevor, on 11/23/2007, -0/+1My Dad recently started building a castle. He just finished putting the 3rd floor on the first tower. He's on track to have it finished in 3 years.... and no it doesn't have a moat. It's not a medieval castle, but everyone asks that right after they say "are you serious."
- captainspud, on 11/22/2007, -3/+4Dead already.
That was quick. - EricAnderton, on 11/22/2007, -0/+1Same here - about 12 years ago; is he done building it yet?
When I went, I was like "there's no way he built this himself." Then you talk to the man and you realize that he just doesn't switch off. Hell, it was hard enough getting him to chat without him trying to go back to work. - Forshman, on 11/23/2007, -0/+1Zakimi Castle: http://www.hdrjapan.com/panorama-zakimi-castle-oki ...
- arunforce, on 11/22/2007, -0/+1Will Digg protect me from an invading army?
- ThatGeek, on 11/22/2007, -0/+1yes it is on the river. Its really cool. If you are ever in the cincinnati area its an interesting side trip
- FoxFaction, on 11/24/2007, -0/+1I've been there as well, and I'll also testament to the fact that the guy is a nut. He is using a pickup truck to hold up one of the sides of the castle, which I found really amusing.
- coloradogray, on 11/22/2007, -0/+1still building, still crazy. I don't think he juggles on the dragon's head with the fire turned on anymore, but he is working on a moat!
- spinninnzen, on 11/22/2007, -0/+1Still building it, if you havent seen it in 12 years you really should. I first saw it about 8 years ago and when I went back 4 years later there was soooo much more done. Really amazing stuff and amazing guy. Used to let us throw parties there all the time. ^_^
- jonc20, on 11/23/2007, -0/+1i was there 6 months ago. still working on it.

- KEMIC1, on 11/23/2007, -0/+1#2 - jim bishops castle is amazing! for a while about 8 years ago some friends of mine used to throw some amazing raves at that spot. they dont show the inside, but there is a lot of incredible craftsmanship inside. there are steps spiraling up to the very top and hand carved ornaments all inside too! such a trippy fun spot and dude built it by hand since he was a kid! the dragon that spits fir is the ***** too! i wish i could do some more e in there again!
- b8man99, on 11/23/2007, -0/+1Chuck Palhaniuk (the guy who wrote Fight Club) wrote a book of true stories a little while ago - one of which was about a few people in America who were obsessed with and built castles. Apparently planes diverted their flight path so they could point out to passengers these amazing buildings. It cost their creators their families, jobs, life savings - such was the level of their obsession.

- carpespasm, on 11/22/2007, -5/+4well that and people who are likely to be so emotionally moved that they would dedicate their lives to something like this are likely to be medicated or locked up now.
- Jalh, on 11/22/2007, -4/+1both had it but they are going too slow .... so wait please !!!!
