- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -7/+34I hate PETA.
- BullHunter, on 01/11/2009, -4/+30They knew the age from cutting it in half and counting the year-rings
- doublefelix, on 01/10/2009, -3/+27Said 140 year old lobster: "You can force me to shill for your lousy seafood restaurant, but you can never take my freedom"!!
- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -1/+23HOORAY!!! (Zoidberg voice)
- anaclagon, on 01/11/2009, -2/+24I had no idea Lobsters had such a long life span.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -9/+22140 delicious years, where's the melted butter
- Topkill, on 01/11/2009, -5/+17I like how PETA applauds the seafood restaurant.. they do know that they cook other "seakittens" there on a daily basis right?
- diggdong, on 01/11/2009, -0/+12as a former lobster, lobsters do not enjoy warm soup.
- MrGaw, on 01/11/2009, -1/+13He just missed the civil war.
- kadoosh, on 01/10/2009, -6/+18om nom nom nom nom nom haha
- loconet, on 01/11/2009, -1/+12Poor lobster, 140 years fighting predators off, he finally caught a break and thought he had it made with fixed food, picture with kids, clean water. He was not too worried about being served on the dinner menu, he was after all, the star of the restaurant. It was a great way to retire until some one got the bright idea that he wanted to go back to the hard ocean life! Damn you PETA!
- rolf, on 01/11/2009, -0/+11You obviously never had to eat meat from an old animal>.>
Yuck! - spookyttws, on 01/11/2009, -0/+9They're basically large fishy cockroaches, so it's not really a surprise. If you look back 200 years or so, you'll find that they were poor peoples food, then suddenly they became popular and the rich decided they were great, thus causing them to be scarce and now to be way more expensive than they should be. Such is economics. Personally, I prefer snow crabs over lobster. Sadly, being part of the "deadliest catch" I'm basically elevating Snow Crabs to a higher level than lobsters (caught off the east coast). That's life, I guess.
- krahzee, on 01/11/2009, -1/+9***** PETA. Dillusional douchebags that they are.
You know, the ***** that commit assault by throwing paint at people who wear fur, yet probably have relatives who wear leather shoes and never have the balls to say ***** to them.
I've got no issue with blocking animal cruelty, but then to hear that PETA does things like euthanasia on healthy animals it recieves makes it sound a bit hyopcritical, doesn't it?
The same group protesting monkey research for legit scientific purposes also recommends that pit bull terriers be put down as a breed, not on a case by case basis. WTF!
Don't believe me look at their wiki. In 2003 85% of the animals they took in were put down. ***** 85%!!!! There is no way that there were that many unadoptable animals in those numbers.
Maybe instead of rushing to take in as many dogs and cats as possible (often from other shelters, not the streets), these ***** could focus on finding some of the ones they already have homes, rather than killing them to make room for new animals.
At least the farmer lets you know that most of the cows will end up hamburger.
"Even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we'd be against it." -Ingrid Newkirk, PETA President
But it's cool if they kill a healthy dog or cat without a home? - DigitAl56K, on 01/11/2009, -1/+9Digg isn't a dedicated news website and the submission was in the "odd stuff" section.
Quit yer whining. - DoctorScientist, on 01/11/2009, -0/+8It survived for about 140 years in the wild and was only recently caught and put in a tank. I'm sure it has 'survival characteristics'.
- Duffle, on 01/11/2009, -1/+8I doubt the lobster gives a ***** where it is as long as they give it food.
- Akairenn, on 01/11/2009, -0/+7Yes. As others are pointing out, the older a lobster is, the crappier it tastes. Goes for most animals, really, but with the price of lobster at what it's at... Nobody cares much about cheezburgrz from old cows, but you really want to get a young, small tail if you want bitchin' lobster.
- AmazingSteve, on 01/11/2009, -2/+8"The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said it found out the old lobster was in the restaurant's tank when a diner called them."
Really? What kind of self-righteous asshat picks up the phone and calls PETA about a giant lobster in a tank? What did said asshat order for dinner for that matter? I'll wager that his or her ***** dinner would have appreciated the same courtesy. - elimrawne, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5seakittens ... yum
- VanDavey, on 01/12/2009, -1/+6Wow, that's the nicest thing PETA has ever said
On that note, ***** PETA - ClevelandBrown, on 01/11/2009, -2/+7The meat probably wouldn't taste that great anyway...
- zip000, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5Yes, jmoh, just like with people.
- Travelsonic, on 01/12/2009, -0/+4Do YOU even know PETA?
Hypocrite much?
Tool much? - jmoh, on 01/11/2009, -5/+9It's okay to eat the young ones, but not the ones that are 100 years+???
I love lobster by the way. - terminal157, on 01/12/2009, -0/+4Wow, you're a dick.
- DrLeePhD, on 01/12/2009, -0/+3.75
- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4do you have anger problems?
- j1ggy, on 01/12/2009, -0/+31
- Borg7609, on 01/11/2009, -3/+6PETA sucks. They're two-faced hypocrits, killing animals when they see fit (their secret paramilitary side - look up anti-PETA sites on the web. You'll see.)...
I just need to find that yummy lobster and steam him up! Let me get my butter ready!!!!! - iizh, on 01/13/2009, -0/+3What's right wing about hating PETA? Plenty of liberals hate you pathetic twits as well.

- elxkid, on 01/12/2009, -0/+3"Lobsters grow throughout their lives and it is not unusual for a lobster to live for more than 100 years. In fact, lobsters may exhibit "negligible senescence", in that they can effectively live indefinitely, barring injury, disease, capture, etc."
Lobster will rule the world one day... - laser314, on 01/11/2009, -1/+442
- acklefutz, on 01/11/2009, -2/+5Everyone who buried the above hates america
- schavira, on 01/11/2009, -1/+3The tail is delicious, not the claw
- CreamySmooth, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2They found Zoidberg!?
- DrLeePhD, on 01/12/2009, -1/+3dugg for insightfulness.
- mattsx, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2don't forget the RIAA
- Darkaged, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2If only we could get them to meet with P-Diddy...
- nicc, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2yeah, I've always preferred crabs to lobster.
- vpshockwave, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Umm... braveheart reference.
- NicoNicoNico, on 01/11/2009, -0/+1The claw is sweet, so some people prefer it. It's kinda tough, though.
- spambutcher, on 01/11/2009, -1/+2hmm... tell me more about this humane, socially conscious establishment...
...and the fine, young buttery crustaceans they serve... - asgardshill, on 01/11/2009, -0/+1No way, no how. At 140 years old, that critter's meat is tougher than a neutronium boot by now. I'd demand a refund if anybody tried to serve me any of that.
- DrLeePhD, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1*old buttery crustaceans
- acklefutz, on 01/11/2009, -1/+2...butter
