1. Grab your camera
2. Go on a walk
3. Take pictures
I don't understand wtf the other steps are for... starting a photowalking brigade? Filling the lonely hole in your heart? Monetizing every last aspect of your life until you're nothing more than a shell of a person? Criminy... - gullevek, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Blogspamcrap
- KMye, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Gross, photography is not a group activity.
- martelo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Agreed, DeathJux. When I feel like taking pictures I go out and I take pictures, and somehow I don't feel the need to alert the blogosphere when I do so.
- evillawngnome, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Sounds like a disgusting use of web technology. Stop telling people to blog - we have enough already.
- DaleoftheUK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5How about people learn how to take pictures so it's fun, and not be told how to do things.
- bigapple666, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Ten Tips for Extremely Vague Tip Lists:
10. Never say in multiple sentences what you can hint at in one.
9. Try not to expound upon anything. Details are pointless.
8. Divert attention from the subject in the title. Then you won't have to even mention your chosen topic.
7. Did you hear what Lindsay Lohan just did?
6. Use exclamation points to make people feel excited. They won't realize you aren't saying anything if they're excited.
5. State the obvious at least five times throughout the list of ten.
4. Pretend that your speaking to preschool age children.
3. Don't use big words that could confuse the reader needlessly.
2. Do not plan what you'll write beforehand. Always make it up on the spot.
1. Pictures, doublespacing and large left and right margins make it look like you wrote more than you actually did! - LoudMusic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Some people like to socialize in "the real world". I agree on the blog comments, though. "No one reads your ***** blog" comes to mind. But try getting a group together to go take pictures. It's actually a lot of fun.
- tHePeOPle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4The first thing I usually do is call your mom.
- darny, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I totally agree...I see tons of dudes with SLRs running around the city with amused smirks on their faces...with frowning, bored chicks in tow.
- LoudMusic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Care to elaborate? I don't understand why you feel photographers must be segregated.
- LoudMusic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is more like five tips strung into ten.
1. Plan Ahead
2. Get the Word Out
3. Invite Professionals
4. Socialize
5. Collect, Organize, and Publicize the Results
"Blogging" is about the worst way to 'get the word out'. Most people don't read your blog ;) Colleges and coffee shops tend to have public bulletin boards in high traffic areas. And I'm sure local photography shops wouldn't mind putting a stack of fliers on their counter for you.
The main thing I would include, as part of the planning, would be to pick a theme. I've done similar group photography journeys before and it always helped to have an 'assignment' or goal other than taking cool pictures. Sometimes we try to "photograph the alphabet", taking pictures of things that begin with each letter of the alphabet in order. You can get more specific by only using nouns, verbs, or adjectives that begin with each letter. For example, one day we used an Abandoned shack for the letter A. You could also do "The Color Red", or variant. I've also found it helps to get away from your daily routes. Go somewhere you either don't normally go, or have never been before. That way practically everything is worth taking a picture of (: - EssPii, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Monetizing blog content?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2My mom is good at organizing them, but your gramma is usually the star of the show!
- DallasTexas, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Good one! LOL
He attitude implies a change of alias to SuperWhiner . - cloudyprison, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Sounds like an MSN.com 10 steps, or the paper version, Reader's Digest.

- LoudMusic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Sometimes it helps to have a little guidance. And no one is telling them how to take pictures - they're just suggesting some structure. It's not easy for everyone to "learn how to take pictures so it's fun" on their own.
- NapkinCat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0In Phoenix we have this thing called Artwalk, where an entire part of the city sets up booths and opens galleries to share their art with new people. I thought that's what he was talking about.. But this concept of walking... WITH A CAMERA?! Shut up already.
- Codyd536, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Hmm photography, photowalk, I should try to organize one some time, It would kind of bee like birdwatching :D thanks for the article
