- RdHrd138, on 10/19/2007, -2/+27Why oh why did they choose a bicycle of all things to modify.. But you gotta love the one with the shopping cart for a front wheel.
- mathmanjeffy, on 10/26/2007, -5/+21How is breaking into a computer system a "hack?"
Oh, that's right, popular culture broadened the original word meaning "to chop or break apart" into something used in computing. Silly me for forgetting that spoken languages are dynamic. - gropo, on 10/19/2007, -0/+15Totally. They should just sit at the internet all day posting negative comments on digg. Much better use of time.
- wild, on 10/19/2007, -1/+15Yea. I know! Shame on those dreamers for looking at something and asking "How can we make this better?"
- Netrilix, on 10/26/2007, -4/+16Can removing the seat lead to serious, and I mean SERIOUS injury?
- grapesofbaath, on 10/18/2007, -3/+15that word...I don't think it means what you think it means
- socialpyramid, on 10/18/2007, -2/+12The grocery getter, FTW
- andrewcsayer, on 10/18/2007, -2/+7Removing the seat can lead to serious, and I mean SERIOUS injury. Just ask me.
- dvsbastard, on 10/26/2007, -0/+5I wonder how the grocery-cart-modded bike handles?!
- gropo, on 10/26/2007, -1/+6Because anyone can mod an engine-powered vehicle and 'push a button' to convey it? When modding a bicycle, the creator needs to keep in mind that they're the power source and sole navigator. A modded bicycle is also under most cops radars, means the sky's the limit for the most part.
- goeatsmsht, on 10/26/2007, -0/+5You can also find "It" on eBay.......
- octophobic, on 10/26/2007, -2/+7Have you every opened a dictionary before? A lot of the words have more than one meaning. "It" for example lists 12 or more definitions.
- InsaneMachine, on 10/26/2007, -0/+4like a wallmart shopping cart. Wouldn't get on that thing :)
- izzybr, on 10/26/2007, -0/+4Wait...these are hacks NOT to put on a bike? Did you see the one with the rockets??? That was amazing. I would love to have fire shooting off the back of my bike. FTA "The ride features rockets on either side that are powered by highway flares, illegal fireworks and propane."
What could possibly go wrong? - lazlonger, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3one image per page, ... ad-sluts
- flamov, on 10/26/2007, -0/+3I want to put a cowbell on my bike, because it needs more apparently.
- eliburford, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3I thought the RailBike was pretty cool.
- toonworld, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3INCONCEIVABLE!!!
- Klarth, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Go back to 2005
- jerrygofixit, on 10/19/2007, -3/+5Whether its proper usage or not it still sounds ***** stupid. Hack this hack that, it's annoying.
- Maddjonesy, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2I agree, but just showing a link to wikipedia isn't proof, wikipedia should always be taken with a pinch of salt.
- Tippis, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Biking sucks -- walking FTW!
- scooterbaga, on 10/19/2007, -1/+2Ya, but how the hell does he steer it? I suppose it would be smoother once in motion...
- Nathaner, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1Why is this article 10 hacks /NOT/ to inflict on your bike? Is that bike you got from wal-mart running in the tour dé france next year?
- EmileVictor, on 10/18/2007, -1/+2Oh, and the "Wtf cycle":
http://www.mediahug.com/gallery/displayimage.php?a ... - Nathaner, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1Healthy people like myself.
- mdmoya, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1http://youtube.com/watch?v=geIsWq5xOSE FTL
- yfguitarist, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1The JCycle is awesome.
- kickasspodcast, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Or even better, post snarky replies to people being realistic in the comments. FWIW exchanging a shopping cart for your front wheel probably doesn't make a better bicycle.
- Tippis, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1According the the MIT guys (who, you'd think, know a bit about what "hacking" means), it's "some sort of interesting and creative work at a high intensity level. This applies to anything from writing computer programs to pulling a clever prank that amuses and delights everyone" - http://hacks.mit.edu/Hacks/Gallery.html
The term is already quite a bit broader than what you're trying to redefine it to be -- it's only in recent years that computer people have been trying to exclusively make it their own... - whisperedlie, on 10/19/2007, -1/+2fezzik, are there rocks ahead?
- derder89, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1I just hacked my toaster yesterday to give me darker toast
- CoBrA9891, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1hack=/=mod, buried as lame
- octophobic, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1The BVSA Rocket Bike is not even powerful enough to roll over a soda can? The MBU is the most interesting but expensive bike.
- dupeduperson, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1I think this would be an appropriate place to add my own bike-mod (actually an add-on). I made my own homemade powertap that measures and records the power output of the rider.
here are the details - http://www.phys.selu.edu/projects - CoBrA9891, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1triple post >
- ScratchyJoe, on 10/18/2007, -1/+2How are these hacks? These are not hacks people, stop trying to broaden the definition of a term used in landscaping and wood chopping. This is bike modification, it is as simple as that. Brantano....I advise you to untie the knot in your panties...until nerds stop saying hack for computers I really don't care what people with manual dexterity call the skills they use. Although I recommend Finagle, rig...I.E. Jerri rigged, or modified.
- SiliconRain, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1So what is the last one meant to be? A miniature hearse for dead pets maybe?
- owlfeathers, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1I want the Soul Cycle. My inner homeless man needs it.
Also, rocketbike. - kickasspodcast, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1not really
- CoBrA9891, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1hack=/=mod, buried as lame
- CoBrA9891, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1triple post... >
- maffiou, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1The ski bike has been around for ages as well... My grand mother's got one...
There is even an international federation...
http://www.skibob.org/ - joshmoney, on 10/18/2007, -0/+011. Bicycle Spinners
http://www.deuce-usa.com/home2.php - drastik21, on 10/18/2007, -1/+1Should of been worded 10 "Mods" NOT to inflict on your Bike [PICS]
People need to stop using the word HACK for everything! - o0adam0o, on 10/18/2007, -1/+1They forgot about putting the can on your back tire to make it sound l ike a motorcycle. Its a classic hack. XD
- crossmr, on 10/19/2007, -1/+1especially since this particular article doesn't provide any sources.
- yfguitarist, on 10/19/2007, -1/+1if there are, we'll all be dead
- protogenxl, on 10/18/2007, -1/+1This is the worst use of money since i tricked out my Big Wheel.
- Ceezer99, on 10/18/2007, -0/+0For those of you interested: I can't think of the name of it now, but there is a publication I saw last week on the magazine racks (I'm 90% sure it was in the "art" section) with all kinds of DIY mods for bikes, including things such as iPod chargers and such.
