- lokee73, on 10/10/2007, -2/+52I've tried to take a nap every day of my entire adult life. (I'm 34 now.) and I have to say that nothing fixes a crappy morning like a quick 20 minutes at lunch.
The trick is training yourself to not be groggy after 20 minutes. - nreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -8/+52psh, you don't need to find time for naps (at least if you're a high school student). They already put it in your schedule, but they usually call it something like "English Literature" just to mess with you, and I seriously don't know why it goes on your transcript, or how they can give me an F in it, but it's there.
- Ludnix, on 10/10/2007, -4/+40My power naps are far to powerful for a mere 20 minutes.
- Triachus, on 10/10/2007, -4/+37Naps kill me. They leave me feeling like my head is filled with cement for hours and I just feel useless and depressed. I guess i'm special.
- Kypt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Nope, that's the reason why I really avoid naps. I always feel very tired afterwards. That and the feeling that I have wasted my afternoon sleeping...I know different people are wired differently but I've never have enjoyed a "power nap" unless is at 3pm after 72 hrs w/o sleep and then I wake up at 3pm next day...but then again that's too powerful to be a nap?
- trentasaurus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13I think the power nap the article discusses is supplemental to a 7-8 hour sleep. This isn't the Da Vinci / Kramer 20 minutes every 4 hours pattern.
- dvsbastard, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Who needs a power nap when you have caffeine?!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9i power napped with your mom.
- Nerfdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8i take a nap in my car every single day at work. they give me an hour lunch. what the hell am i supposed to do with an hour lunch? i usually eat my lunch sitting in my cube anyway.
- shibainu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8great ill try this at work tomorrow
- rnwen2750, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I was the same way until I went to uni and then trained myself to use naps to bolster sleepless nights. I now firmly believe anyone can learn to nap beneficially, if they really try.
- sgtbutterscotch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I find if I nap in a place where there are lots of people, such as a lecture hall, it's much easier to take a nap without that crappy feeling. I think that since there is no much movement in your surroundings, your brain doesn't trust itself to go into a deep sleep, but that's just my hypothesis. I usually wake up feeling pretty well rested.
- SniperX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Hmmm, somewhat of a waste of time. I can sum up this story in four words:
"Take naps. They help." - tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7They are delicious.
- kpxxbladexx415, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8a 20 min nap in the afternoon = 3 hrs of headaches for the rest of the day.
- counterplex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Funny thing is it was exactly called English Literature for me. Two of the three times I had to take the renamed Morning Nap class it was in a nice cozy classroom in the dead of winter that made it very easy to work. The other time was in the summer which (even with windows open) made for a not very nice experience.
- stklaw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Yeah...
It's either no sleep or deep sleep. - Mizzike, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6they called mine History... I got a B ... I think it stands for Bliss, but I'm not entirely sure.
- morningmatters, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Ok, let's be honest, how many people here take a power dump followed by a quick power nap on the toilet after lunch?
- CaptainM4d, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Fitter, happier, more productive...
- Rikkochet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4You're not alone. I can't nap without being horribly and depressingly disoriented for the remainder of the day.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4power crapping sounds cool
- inblue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3possibly a trunkated diabetic coma?
- selrahc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3How long are you napping? I used to feel that way and then started taking only 5 or 10 minute naps. If I nap for more than 10 or 15 minutes I get the same cement in head feeling, but if I only nap for 10 minutes or so I feel great for the rest of the afternoon.
- HBNDonut, on 10/10/2007, -1/+43 hours of headaches? Or headaches for the rest of the day? Which is it?
- AQMessiah, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Well if you haven't caught on, people from the Mediterranean take mid day siestas because of the heat, their life span is considerably longer than most Americans. How does that fit in your "naps kill you" theory?
Stop being such a party pooper! - audiologic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3http://pzizz.com
Assists in power napping. I have no affiliation with them, but I *love* it. Give it a try sometime. Forces your mind to think about / remove what stresses it has. - HBNDonut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Power fapping sounds painful...
- misconstrued, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Why am I being dug down? I'm seriously interested in reading more about the possibility of organ damage from polyphasic sleep.
- happyhappyhappy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+211. Increase your chance of having a lucid dream.

- Randomprophit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I used to power nap during class in college. I would wake up twenty minutes later and look at the clock and see there was an hour left until class ends, and go right back to sleep. It took me eight years to graduate.
- Jones82, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2How do you train yourself not to feel groggy?
- HBNDonut, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Hmm... You can nap with your iPod?
- BarleyWind, on 10/10/2007, -6/+8You forgot Ron Paul.
- rabidg00se, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"i find that sleeping during class is really beneficial."
rofl - riah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Power naps should only be like 20 minutes or so. I think you might be going to long.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1who needs caffeine when you can power nap? Oh wait... no sorry I can't power nap at work.
- Boofster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Every time I try this during the day, I end up staying up late at night because I can't sleep. Guess it's not for everyone.
- Mizzike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1...and MetroNaps was born. (Actually, MetroNaps has been around for several years.)
http://www.metronaps.com/ or google MetroNaps. - BlackCow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Doesn't help us high school students though, teachers don't seem to take to kindly to power naps.
- smek2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I am Power Napping right now!
- Wilddigi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Fapping before a power nap helps you sleep
- f4nt0m4s, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1We Americans may be the kings of being lazy, but the Spanish pioneered it. They have an official Siesta, those bastards.
- theradical, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well of course, since our bodies are really just made for running about the savannah catching food whenever possible and sleeping the rest of the time.
- mrewens, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'd love to see where you got your information from cause it sounds like a load of crap. Plus the 20-30 min nap is not designed to replace a good night's rest. I've also read "large studies" that claim depending on the person that naps around mid-day can be beneficial.
- rarson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah, this is exactly what we need: more dumb Americans sleeping through history so that they can become president and run our country into the ground.
- nobody554, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You just gotta learn how to do it right. Let your eyes glaze over as you're staring in the semi-general direction of the board. Soon you'll be sleeping in every class.
- Jones82, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Are you guys even listening to me!??!?
- groverwood, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1reading this is making me tired.
