- alapoet, on 12/29/2008, -0/+67$10,000 down, $49,999,990,000 to go.
- BeShirtHappy, on 12/29/2008, -0/+32Did Madoff get a tiny taste of his own medicine?
- anders5689, on 12/30/2008, -0/+13He probably "stole" it from himself to keep it from being seized.
Btw, anyone wonder about this?
"His $10 million bail was secured by properties owned by Madoff and his wife, including the Manhattan apartment and the Palm Beach estate."
So he posted bail with properties purchased with (I'm assuming) completely illegitimate funds? Can you even do that? I suppose he's still innocent until proven in court, but come on.... - AmyVernon, on 12/29/2008, -3/+14I wonder who did it. Very curious.
- coltrane68, on 12/29/2008, -0/+11This story isn't really news unless someone takes that statue and shoves it down Madoff's throat.
- harrythe3rd, on 12/30/2008, -0/+11Madoff needs his life stolen. That rotten bastard deserves the worst.
- californicator, on 12/29/2008, -3/+13You gotta love Florida! It appears every crook in the US owns a house in Florida.
Fortunately, you need to be a "resident" of Florida (like OJ was) to get the asset protections that would keep the Justice Department from seizing your property.
So if Madoff 'lived' in Florida, the thief would have stolen that statue form him. Since he lives in New York, the thief stole it from us. So, I guess that is $100,000 more that vanished on top of the $50 Bn. Lovely! - ninjarabbits, on 12/30/2008, -0/+9I think you meant to type "up his ass"
- tinkafoo, on 12/30/2008, -0/+9Someone MADE-OFF with it! HA!
- specialK16, on 12/30/2008, -1/+7This is like the dude in a party that out of nowhere throws a completely irrelevant comment, that guy that makes you sort of uncomfortable when you see it because you know he might come up with ***** like this.
Dude, shut the ***** up. - cog77, on 12/30/2008, -0/+6He also would have been a much more honorable person if he hadn't fleeced $50 billion from investors.
- Ajajadude, on 12/30/2008, -0/+5Probably had someone steal so he could collect on insurance.
- BassMastr, on 12/30/2008, -0/+5So you really think one guy had the capabilities to do this by himself? The paper work alone would take a small group of people just produce each month. No way! Yeah his sons turned him in and of course everyone said they were shocked. There is no way he could have acted alone.
- silent128, on 12/30/2008, -0/+5Why not both?
- kokoshka, on 12/29/2008, -1/+5Who would want such an ugly statue?
- Kidddrunkadelic, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4But a drop in an ocean compared to what he made off with.
- cowsgonemadd3, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4I did not know he had a donkey?
- endgame, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4Good! Those affected by this ***** should steal ALL his stuff!
- BassMastr, on 12/30/2008, -1/+5No way he did this by himself. Put his sons and everyone else involved in running this company in jail too.
- wilhoitm, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4It's up on eBay!
- bubba9999, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4"I lost 10,000,000 in the market and all I got was this lousy statue"
- tidu, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4which first?
- krahzee, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4Do you mean some of the same charities he fleeced or are you talking about different ones? That's the sad part here: Not only did individual investors get burned, but charities, pension funds, etc..
I feel for some of those people who had no control over it and will get hurt. Bail out the pension fund of the guy who has worked hard his whole life and got ***** by someone else's bad decision before you bail out a company that mismanaged itself into oblivion. - Licurgo, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4this guy is my hero, he can steal billions without using a gun, or explosives
- kineticarl, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3Seems like a formality at this point.
- djixl, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3principle alone
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3$10,000? I know it's more than most of us have laying around, but seriously, it's not THAT much. My car is worth twice that. Hell, my ever-growing DSLR system is probably worth half that. It's not like we are talking about a million dollars here.
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3When you screw ultra rich people out of money you end up getting dead. He will get whats coming to him sooner or later.
- dddavid, on 12/30/2008, -1/+4$10K means less to him than $1 means to you and me. Wasn't his money, why should he care how much stuff costs.
- D3IM0S, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3Good. That ***** needs to learn what it feels like to be stolen from.
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -2/+5***** him. I hope he gets ass-raped in jail. Hell, put him in a 4 foot by 4 foot cell with OJ. Throw in some battery acid for lube and let them get busy. And as someone who lives in South Floriduh, you just can't imagine how old this ***** gets. That's why it's nice when something like Blago happens. Anything that doesn't have a direct link to South Floriduh is oh-so refreshing!
- botchedabortion, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3I'm sure the cops will get right on that
- tidu, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3are... are you serious?
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3I hope English is not your first language.
- Gemfinder, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3Considering what he stole from us, that's a more-than-fair karmic judgment.
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -1/+3Those dudes at parties must all have Digg accounts.
- Willtheway, on 12/30/2008, -1/+3His sons turned him in. And his senior executives were stunned when Madoff revealed that the company was a Ponzi Scheme.
- rainbowaura, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2this shows how people right now becoming poor
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2sahilshaker, or whatever, please feel free to get hit by a bus.
- snotrokit, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2Lucky that's all they took. Douchebag.
- miggie, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2Looks like someone got there money back.
- hertj, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2don't be so floridumb
- cddict1, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2but thats not going to make any difference.
- Willtheway, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2well you can believe whatever you want but my point was that his sons were the real heroes in turning in their dad.
- wiredclimber, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2Note is signed by "The Educators". Probably in ref to the movie
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0408777/ - cle2105, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2Nobody "needs" art, some people enjoy it and collect it
- TheMachine1, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2Stolen for later insertion up his ass.
- nyx210, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2Did you just accidentally a whole verb?
- michaelamyers, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2What many of you may fail to recognize is that $10k to this guy is like an old broken shoestring to the rest of us.
- haikuFU, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2He's going to disappear. Anyone who is stealing upwards of $50 billion would be an idiot not to have an escape plan.
