Nintendo to announce "Wiiware" tomorrow!
blog.newsweek.com — Wiiware will be an online service to download original content, like Xbox-live or PSN. Nintendo, however, is reaching out particularly to indie developers: small development houses with big ideas. Sounds like a dream come true!

- Bodhesatva, on 10/11/2007, -11/+97Nintendo was getting several core criticisms this generation, and "little or no online support" was one of them. Great to see them reacting to their lack of content.
In olden times, when Nintendo didn't like something (such as the CD format), they'd stick with their guns and ignore all criticism, even while their boat burned and sank (such as the N64/PS1 era). They appear to be a lot more flexible these days. Kudos to them.- anonatron, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Nintendo did not have much of a choice in the N64 era, they had chosen a format and scrapping that to embrace a new format would mean an entire architecture change. It would be similar to Sony in their current situation with Blu-Ray, changing to a different format at this point in the game would cost a lot, not to mention the lost R&D from the original format. That is the beauty of online content, if a change needs to be made, it can be made without hardware changes.
- KingBabi, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6I can't figure out how to reply directly to Bodhesatva's comment, so I'll reply here.
As much as I like Nintendo, and while they are trying to remedy the problems they were criticized for before (online), they always fix them too late. In the N64 era they didn't have CD's, and switched to the Mini DVD's for the GCN, in turn, the GCN faced the new problem of lackluster (or should I say, virtually non-existent) online support, which they remedied on the Wii (or plan to, in any case). However, they are of course faced with the lack of HDTV support, and I assume they will fix this in their upcoming system. They have to cater towards the current generation's needs. - KingBabi, on 10/11/2007, -12/+2I can't figure out how to reply directly to Bodhesatva's comment, so I'll reply here.

- MrObjectional, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12Yamauchi may be laughing all the way to the bank, but you can attribute Nintendo's responsiveness to the fact that he's no longer the head of the company
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13They talked about doing this at last year's E3 - several months before the Wii was even released.
- op12, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Exactly...a system like this doesn't go up overnight, and you can bet it's been in the works for quite a while. It has nothing to do with the criticism.
- anonatron, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Nintendo did not have much of a choice in the N64 era, they had chosen a format and scrapping that to embrace a new format would mean an entire architecture change. - Itsjustnoah, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15We all knew this would happen eventually, though its nice to finally hear about it rather than think about it.
- defectDS, on 10/11/2007, -17/+97I was so giddy until I read "become available next year." Hopefully they won't wait this long for online multiplayer.
- alefox, on 10/11/2007, -3/+33pokemon for the wii just came out and has online multiplayer
- TheAkolyte, on 10/11/2007, -11/+3Oh boy pokemon! Seriously though, lets get some REAL games out. So far there has been only two titles out worth getting for the wii. I was so excited to get my wii last year, and now I haven't touched it in 4 months. It's disgraceful.
- brainboy77, on 10/11/2007, -8/+1i agree with akolyte's first statement. seriously, pokemon?! who the hell wants to play that online? pokemon came out on monday (I think) and i haven't even a single article on it or anything. pokemon does not count as online multiplayer.
- racer108, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The first Wiiware titles will be out next year. Multiplayes IS here.
"Look for the first WiiWare titles from Nintendo and third-parties to become available next year."
- Hockey37, on 10/11/2007, -2/+22Also Strikers in late July/early August.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -11/+2ooh, 2 games after 7 months!
Remember, GC had one online game early on, and it stayed that way for the entire life of the cube. - turpenine, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5strikers has been out in the UK for some time and the multiplayer is very addictive. After that lots of online games will be coming all at once.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -11/+2ooh, 2 games after 7 months!
- kravex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12Strikers already out in Europe, has been for weeks.
- wiihuck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Madden in August. (3rd party)
- wiihuck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9i don't understand why defectds is getting dugg up. there have been four posts now showing that online multiplayer is already out, more are coming out, and that 3rd parties are also involved. is it because of the new comment system?
- zero01101, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4no, it's because we can't digg up only the first half of his comment. next year for wiiware content? awful.
- MrSidnet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It's probably also because the only Multiplayer games that are out right now are First Party. So far, there are no games released from 3rd parties that are multiplayer
Feel free to correct my if I'm wrong.
- alefox, on 10/11/2007, -3/+33pokemon for the wii just came out and has online multiplayer
- Bodhesatva, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20While I do agree with both Noah and defectDS, I also would add that I personally was afraid that Nintendo would simply never get the message.
Nintendo is well known for simply ignoring glaring criticisms (cartridge format? 3rd party alienation?) I'd love it if they had this sooner, but I'm also relieved that they didn't wait until it was so late that it cost them dearly in market share. Also, the "indie developer" touch is a fantastic idea. It gets the low-rent developers on their side from the get go.- Zephkiel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Indie developers are already developing for the Wii. Capucine and Pollen Sonata come to mind.
- grumbel, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1From what I understand they want to develop for the Wii, they however are not developing for the Wii so far, to quote the Pollen Sonata page: "Our goal was and still is to bring our game to the Wii and we're taking all the steps with regard to organizational and financial issues towards the realization of this." and another one "we have nothing actually running on the Wii yet."
Which basically means it might happen or it might not happen. Nintendo hasn't send them devkits and they don't really seem to have a clear idea on how to get one either.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8They got the message months before the Wii was even released. They talked about doing this at last year's E3.
- MatttK, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I think another brilliant thing about this movie ist hat it forces the big developers to take it up a notch. Look at some of the trash that's been put out on the DS and even some of the junk put out on the Wii so far. Some companies think they can just port their PS2 games and strap on Wii control. Well if Joe Indie can make a half decent game in his basement and give it away for free or sell it for 10 bucks, you better believe we're going to expect Big Name Company to do better for 59.99.
- grumbel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The issue is that Joe Indie *can't* make a game for the Wii, so far there is no indication that Nintendo will make it any easier to get your hands on the devkit then before. It might simply mean that the current developers now can sell they crap online too.
- MrSidnet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I certainly hope that WiiWare supports free downloadable games. You know, for those that like to make games for the sake of making games.
- Zephkiel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Indie developers are already developing for the Wii. Capucine and Pollen Sonata come to mind.
- aggrazel, on 10/11/2007, -1/+27I hope they have free demos, I am leary to buy any software this way without a free demo. There are games on XBL that I never would have bought on title alone that after playing the demo, I just had to have.
- AhrenBa, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20This is great news! Now, all they need to release is some information for an external (attachable) hard drive for the Wii. With downloadable new content on the way, the massive library of VC games, and game saves, people are bound to run out of space. What would be great is if they could release a firmware update allowing any USB 2.0 hard drive to work, but I would still be somewhat ok with a branded HDD if the price isn't too extreme.
Wouldn't it be great to have a Demo channel for upcoming retail Wii games, and then the Shop channel for the VC and indie games? Heck yes it would! - jayhawken, on 10/11/2007, -13/+23Maybe Nintendo ought to concentrate on manufacturing more Wiis. I've never seen one in a store and I'd love to buy one. (Just not at eBay prices.)
- isuisorisuaint, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1try circuitcity.com....they have them
- Alphateam, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Wii console
Includes: Wii Console*
Wii Remote
Price SOLD OUT
- Alphateam, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Wii console
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -17/+1What are ebay prices? $50 more? Cheap ass.
And this is coming from someone who regretfully spent the MSRP of $270 on this dust collector.- turpenine, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5if you are so remorseful sell it one ebay and let somebody else have it.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I'll lose a ton of money doing that. I bought 4 or 5 virtual console games, component cables, classic controller, nun chuk, wii play, zelda, elebits, resident evil 4, and wario ware. Who's going to want to buy all that for $500?
If Metroid, Mario, and Smash Bros disappoint, I'll sell it. I can see Metroid disappointing me, and maybe Mario, but Smash Bros will probably change me opinions.- megashaun, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1RE4 has been out for a week. You're already tired of it?
- Alphateam, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14They are selling all they can make. And they are making hundreds thousands a month. More than 360 and PS3 combined.
I'm sure Nintendo is doing all they can to not make money. - mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1http://sacramento.craigslist.org/ele/361211996.html
- tizz66, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10They are making as many as they can. Thing is, it'd be folly for them to go ahead and build more factories to make them in, because once the demand dies down, those factories will be useless and it'd be wasted money. Just be glad they aren't artificially restricting supply like some other manufacturers have been known to do :)
- anders95, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Nintendo doesn't have to build more factories to manufacture them, all of the work is contracted out to third party electronics manufacturing firms. Those companies already have the equipment they just need to get the Wii parts and configure the equipment to make Wiis.
- merreborn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4They're easy as hell to find if you're willing to wake up on Sunday morning and check the new weekly ad for Target/Best Buy/Circuit City.
It was taking 4+ hours for new shipments to sell out, *as of six months ago*. I'm sure these days, they've got the things in stock for at least a whole day. - aywwts4, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I love that logic, they havent made enough so they should stop focusing on creating new content for the wii? What should they do...
Iwata walks in... "Alright online indie game marketing division, your department has been dissolved and your all being reassigned to new positions, namely, Nintendo Of China's sweatshop factory division. This should help alleviate shortages"
- isuisorisuaint, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1try circuitcity.com....they have them
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -26/+10I ***** HATE THIS COMMENT SYSTEM!!!
- TimRogers, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2I ***** WISH THAT YOU WOULD STFU!!!
- Ignathius, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1ya. it seems the ignorant people are having problems understanding the new comment system.
boo ***** hoo
- damnyooneek, on 10/11/2007, -2/+22they should update the firmware so it supports any external hd and their plan should take off
- jacobmp92, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Or at least load-from-SD support... I'm low on space and have a 2 GB SD card that would really come in handy right now.
And I don't mean backup-to-SD like what it already has. I want to be able to play a game that is only on my card, and not sitting in the system memory.- BuGz213, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4we need better channel management also... how about a NES channel (that has all the NES games u download), then a SNES channel... etc.,
- spoonard, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I think some type of external storage device is a must-have now.
- lispy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I was hoping for USB-Stick Support. These things come cheap and the USB Connectors are useless as of now.
- jacobmp92, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Or at least load-from-SD support... I'm low on space and have a 2 GB SD card that would really come in handy right now.

"Why is this news? {insert system here} has been doing it FOREVER! - illcendiary, on 10/11/2007, -12/+2great, are we gonna have to trade friend codes for the stuff we download there too
- robuk24, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17Good news, I'm surprised they are announcing this before E3. They must have some very big guns left to show off!
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5They talked about doing this at LAST year's E3, months before the Wii was even released.
- turpenine, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2maybe they will announce the storage units for storing your downloaded games?
- khyberkitsune, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11I would love to see Plasma Pong on the Wii. If they're wanting Indie games, that's the first one I would recommend!
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Desktop Tower Defense would work great with the Wii remote. And didn't Nintendo make a deal with the guy who did Line Rider? That would be a perfect fit for this service too.
- EvolvedAnt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Can't you play Tower Defense games already simply by browsing to the website on the Wii Opera browser?
- khyberkitsune, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2oi, I recommend a game and get dugg down, Skippy recommends two others and gets dugg up.
And this is why digg sucks, no way to moderate the moderators. TYVFM.- apache2, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1"boohoo my comment was dugg down 10 seconds after submitting it"

- Karyyk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10This is great news. With the Wii dev systems as inexpensive as they are, it's not too much of a stretch to see some truly full-featured games come out from the old-school 'guy in his garage.' This is good for Wii, good for new and hobbyist developers and good for gaming in general.
- MatchStick, on 10/11/2007, -12/+7Nintendo FTW !!!!!!111!11!!1!!one!!1one!!!!!1111
once again, Ninty shows that they're all about the games; not pushing a new disc format, not bragging about a new video-out port, not deffending faulty hardware or high price; it's all about the games. That's why Wii and DS make pwnage of the competition: it's all about the games.- urby86, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2Fanboy much?
- MatchStick, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4i'll have you know i love my psp (don't have/want a DS), but i hate that sony turned all focus on ps3 and forgot about us psp owners in november.
- pissflaps, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2There's a brand-spanking new God of War game coming out for PSP-only release. Look into it, I don't see Sony giving up.
- swavalier711, on 10/11/2007, -13/+63Things Nintendo will never do.
1) Give you up.
2) Let you down.
3) Run around.
4) Desert you.
5) Make you cry.
6) Say goodbye.
7) Tell a lie.
8) Hurt you.- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -31/+8So far they have done 1, 2, 5, 7, and 8 for me.
1. not even trying to upscale their games to 720p, online play, not giving up on friend codes.
2. Wii.
5. Paid $270 for the Wii, plus the 4 games I bought hoping it would redeem itself.
7. Horrible PR.
8. Wii sucks. - BryanCarr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13...That was brilliant. How the devil are you getting buried? *digg up*
- Flipperbw, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9rick astley ftw?
- xerus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14So by reading this... was I RICKROLL'd?
- Dogtanian, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Beautiful, just beautiful.
- qualish, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6I wish I could digg that comment 100 times. That was flat out brilliant.
- Sornos, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Clearly you don't remember the Virtual Boy.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -31/+8So far they have done 1, 2, 5, 7, and 8 for me.
- Drakk0n, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Does anybody have the website for Nintendo indie developers?
I know of wario world but it doesnt appear that they are to open to indie houses... - TurboSquid, on 10/11/2007, -15/+6PS3 and XBox can suck my Wii!
- JonXP, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Finally! I wonder how hard they're going to make it to get the SDK.
- blaaguuu, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Yeah, I'm curious if its something 1-man, or very small development groups will be able to get in on... Aren't the actual dev-kit consoles only like $2000? Not half bad.
- aNoble, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3What I'm wondering is if they'll have more than just games. I'm really wanting some Joost, Netflix, YouTube, etc. channels.
- aNoble, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Add a DVD channel to that.
I doubt Nintendo would let a third-party develop it (if it's even possible). But hey, I can dream right? - mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2huh? What the ***** would the point of those channels be? Just do that ***** online.
- aNoble, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5The point is that I can't watch Joost or Netflix "Watch it Now" on my TV without having to hook my laptop up to the TV (which is a pain in the neck).
When I watch movies I want to see them on my big screen with surround sound and not my 19" laptop screen with it's crappy speakers.
- aNoble, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5The point is that I can't watch Joost or Netflix "Watch it Now" on my TV without having to hook my laptop up to the TV (which is a pain in the neck).
- davidepp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0You can already do YouTube just fine on the Wii. Go to the Internet Channel and type in the URL and it works great..even does full screen of videos. For an even better YouTube experience, check out WiiToob.com on the Wii. It's basically a YouTube wrapper. I've used it and it works wonderfully. Youtube was a big reason that I wanted an AppleTV, but now with the ability to get YouTube on the Wii, that's what I will be purchasing very soon. It's great for having friends over and watching funny clips or even watching documentaries...and the video quality isnt all that bad.
- allengeer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Weird. My Wii does YouTube.
- aNoble, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Add a DVD channel to that.
- Sun.Surfin, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Well, the article says Wednesday morning is when it'll be released, which is today. My Wii's on, and hopefully, I'll come back later today to a glowing slot loader.
- gmanolatos, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Actually the article doesn't have a release date and other reports say that the first titles will be released in early 2008. They are announcing that independent development will be happening, that is all.
- xerikx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1they're announcing it today, article says "Look for the first WiiWare titles from Nintendo and third-parties to become available next year."
- brainboy77, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2i wonder how your kid will react when he learns that his dad can't read thoroughly?
- Sun.Surfin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Thanks for the compliment; most digg users don't seem able to get the girls, so I do appreciate your assumption that I already had one.
I'm 14.
- Sun.Surfin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Thanks for the compliment; most digg users don't seem able to get the girls, so I do appreciate your assumption that I already had one.
- meepus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+27I think that Nintendo's strategy is brilliant. They are gradually introducing the Wii as a real console platform by trickling features in as the software is developed. The Wii is selling like hotcakes even still, and when things slow down a bit all Nintendo needs to rejuvenate hardware sales is introduce a new aspect to the Wii platform.
Online multiplayer? A few more people want to buy Wiis.
Online software distribution model? More people want to buy Wiis, and more developers want to develop for Wii.
Connectivity with DS? It'll work better than with GBA, it'll work wirelessly, and it'll open up more affordable creative venues for software devs.
And so on and so forth. The entire console platform won't have shown its face until after the end of next year, and by then third party support should be so robust that the Wii will be firmly entrenched as the runaway victor of this console war. I don't even an own a Wii, and would not consider myself a fanboy: it's just that Nintendo's marketing strategy is a flawless evolution of what they've been doing all along--focusing on the games. - Wiinii, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1They already have: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=26163
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3About time!
This is great news to hear. To be honest, I know they announced this before, but I was worried this was one of their promises that Nintendo wasnt intend on keeping. I thought htye would be content to just have a random free channel (Weather, News, Voting, etc) here and there and just keep all their downloadable games VC.
I just cannot bring myself to buy a VC game, just too expensive (Ok, so $10 is a decent price for a N64 game but I think the rest are way too expensive, especially NES) when they are 100% direct ports with no enhancements or online play or anything.
Now, if only somehow Nintendo would allow USB drives and the downloading of demos of Wii or VC games.... but thats just asking too much I guess.- ishgabibble, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1If they are announcing this before E3, then they might be saving their announcement about a USB drive for E3.
- TheTankengine, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Finally!
Now bring on the USB/Bluetooth keyboard ability. - NiGHTSChao, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1sounds like a yelp for more third party support
- ferrazf, on 10/11/2007, -7/+3I wonder if all the wii fans will be too worried about getting and iphone to give this any attention
- halleyscomet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3That assumes a level of crossover between Wii and Apple for which you have no proof.
- Amablue, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I wonder when the SDK's will be available and how much they'll be.
- ishgabibble, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Now Nintendo has no choice but to release a hard drive attachment. How are all these games going to be stored?
- o0joshua0o, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2This could be really lucrative for indie game developers. It gives them access to a HUGE market.
- wageslaven, on 10/11/2007, -10/+3If you are interested in 7th Gen game development, you can download the XNA Studio Express for the Xbox 360. Get it here;

Xbox has already announced that the games made with XNASE will be coming to all Xbox owners in the future.

"Frozen Bubble" for the Wii.
Nethack for Wii!!!! - EPH99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5This is great. And I thought my Wii couldn't get much better (online play excluded). One big thing worries me and that is where all this software is going to go? They should have mentioned something about this along with the announcement. My Wii is already about half full with Vc games and I'll certainly be storing them on Sd cards by year's end. Where is the hardware support Nintendo? Address this and the Wii could go down as the greatest console to date.
- Nyukin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The Wii is the greatest console to date.
- grumbel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Any word yet on if they will make it easier to get your hands at a devkit? Since currently the first step to do a small budget indie game on the Wii seems to give up on your independence and invest a much bigger budget then necessary (rent office, personal, etc.), which kind of defeats the whole point of doing a small budget indie title in the first place.

"""As of April 2, we have two categories for Wii developer status, Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 is focused on existing developers who have shipped games in the console/handheld space. Tier 2 is for startups, and other experienced software companies who have not yet shipped games. """
Things seem to be moving.

- wageslaven, on 10/11/2007, -10/+1This Post is completely on topic, ive included links for more information so you dont 'have to take my word for it". Why is it dugg down?
f you are interested in 7th Gen game development, you can download the XNA Studio Express for the Xbox 360. Get it here;
http://msdn.microsoft.com/xna/
http://creators.xna.com/
Xbox has already announced that the games made with XNASE will be coming to all Xbox owners in the future.
More info here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_XNA - Warfarin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I hope Pixel can be persuaded to make and/or allow Cave Story to be on the Wii.
- hazza18, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3If They Are Going To Announce It Tomorrow Then How Do We Know About It Today :S
- GamaFu, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1actually, it's posted on Tuesday which is yesterday. That means they will announce it today according to it.
- Bodhesatva, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7The official announcement is up:

- stealthrocket, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3This is cool. I was beginning to wonder if they were ever going to do anything with the online options. Now I want accessories for my Mii!
- Tikkimann, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1The Wii is awesome, and I don't plan on buying an Xbox 360. That being said, Nintendo's online experience has not compared in several areas where its competition has (though some of the channels like the news channel have been surprising to me, especially after the Gamecube's near total lack of online), and a game download service will be nice, but I doubt it will compare to the Live Arcade or the PSN games. This isn't just because of Nintendo's history--it's also because the hard drive is so small that it can't easily accommodate large--or even medium-sized--downloadable games. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Live Arcade titles are limited to 512 MB--isn't that the entire capacity of the Wii?
- shit, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1XBLA games can be a maximum size of 250MB. With approval from MS they can be 450MB.
- LembasBread, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4This is why I think middle-man video game retailers don't have much time left. I don't think it will be long until downloadable games via internet (xboxlive, wiiware, steam, many MMOs) really take off. Cheaper prices and convienance make the process sooo much easier.
- Vicujozobenaxod, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0Great!.....
...and now to work on another milestone: more games that are not mario, zelda, metroid or pokemon. you know, games that are meant for 5 year olds but adults in diapers still play. - obsoletepower, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1THIS BLOWS!!! First of all, I thought this was going to be a service like xbox live that has the dashboard and *****. It takes them until next year to release this WiiWare ***** that will COST MONEY to download games??? What the *****? How is this a cool feature?? If the games will be like $5 then they will be worth it but if they only save you like $10 then I will just go out and buy the damn thing. I will not pay $50 and if it gets accidentally deleted I will have to pay again! Nintendo is ***** greedy here. They are making so much money and are cheap bastards. I mean why would they charge for the bloody internet channel??
- Sornos, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1This sounds like XNA....
*hides before people realize I am saying Nintendo is copying Microsoft* - jasonpoon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That's cool and must be done as Xbox Live and PSN got something similar, besides I would like a demo download channel...but if there is no external HDD, there is no point to have these channels.
- Bodhesatva, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Sornos: no, I think Nintendo is definitely copying Microsoft here. And I think that's a good thing.
There are definitely times to be innovative, and there are definitely times to copy someone else when that other person has a great thing going. Microsoft may have issues with the hardware, but Xbox live is golden. It's good to see Nintendo walking the tight rope that is a little bit of innovation (Wii remote, etc.) and a little bit of plagiarism. - Vandelay797, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1 I cannot WAIT to see what is developed. nintendo, kudos to you
- gabe96, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Sweet! Can't wait to see what type of games come out.
