- zeromancer, on 10/30/2007, -2/+245i don't care what platform it's on. just ***** release it already.
- africansk8er, on 10/29/2007, -5/+117While the 360 and PS3 may be able to utilize better graphics, I think that the Wii's controls are the closest thing to a PC mouse that you're gonna get on a console today, making it a perfect platform to release Spore on.

direct link, minus blogspam. - NickMilne, on 10/28/2007, -1/+57I hope it will run on the Phantom.
- inactive, on 10/29/2007, -3/+44$$$$
- inactive, on 10/28/2007, -0/+31Along with Duke Nukem Forever. Maybe we'll get a bundle pack.
- Jerim, on 10/28/2007, -3/+32He had said a while back that the Wii wasn't powerful enough and there was no way they could release it on the Wii. So I wonder what persuaded him otherwise.
- Schmapdi, on 10/28/2007, -0/+25The first Sims was fairly fun and novel for a while actually. And it was certainly a ground-breaking concept. It's just the upteen bajillion expansion packs and spin-offs and whatnot that makes it look so trashy nowadays.
- VenTatsu, on 10/30/2007, -3/+26And have yet another crappy half made game from EA? I'm glad Will Wright has the industry clout to not be forced to release before it's done.
- rompom7, on 10/30/2007, -2/+24I can imagine blasting planets with my wiimote now.. This is going to be awesome.
- LimeParrot, on 10/28/2007, -7/+29Am I the only human that thinks Sims was completely rubbish?
(Even though Spore looks to have a lot of potential...) - retral, on 10/29/2007, -0/+20I wish this would hurry up and come out already (for PC).
- inactive, on 10/28/2007, -5/+23Wow, all that procedural generation looks like its going to pay off if it will be playable on the Wii. At first glance you would have thought this game wouldn't fit on anything less than a Blu-ray. Very interesting stuff.
I'll probably just get it for PC, but I just can't wait. - rofflecopter, on 10/28/2007, -5/+21Prepare for Spore: pets, Spore: Vacation, and Spore: Hot date.
- Gustomucho, on 10/28/2007, -3/+19Well, if the DS can run it, I expect the Wii will be able too. They will just lower the viewing distance and some effect to make it a little less CPU intensive.
- theragu40, on 10/28/2007, -1/+17Sorry for comment hijack, but this blog was down really fast last time he submitted. Here's a link to the actual interview: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2007/oct/26/w ...
- DarkDx, on 10/28/2007, -2/+17Good to see he is releasing it for the wii, there was no excuse (great game + large userbase = profit).
- andydumi, on 10/29/2007, -1/+15It still remains to be seen how it will look compared to a PC. I hope they dont "simplify" it for the masses, although they likely will on the Wii.
I still think PC is the way to go with the much more robust internet infrastructure. - inactive, on 10/27/2007, -0/+13Art direction should be the strong selling point, not how many polys you can push. People these days don't seem to understand. It's not about how much power you've got, it's what you do with what you have that matters.
- xdeliriumx, on 10/29/2007, -4/+16i dont think i could have said it better myself.
- LordofChaosIori, on 10/28/2007, -1/+13Or it could just be limited to certain parts of the game...
- inactive, on 10/29/2007, -0/+12Um... exactly. If you didn't know everything was procedurally generated, you would have thought this game would be huge.
- Gustomucho, on 10/28/2007, -2/+14Graphics strong selling point? What game are you talking about, this game is all about uniqueness of gameplay and open-minded creation. The Miis are pretty basic and yet people spends hours creating look-a-like. This ain't Crysis, do you think people buy the Sims because of the graphics?
- inactive, on 10/28/2007, -0/+11Didn't know they weren't originally planning to release for the Wii, but okay.
- inactive, on 10/28/2007, -1/+12Wait, what?
How can you NOT want to play Halo 3 with precision aiming? Are you saying you prefer dual-analog? - barktwiggs, on 10/28/2007, -3/+14So this means we'll see it on the Wii 8 years from now, right?
- directive0, on 10/28/2007, -0/+10Will Wright NEVER said the Wii was a piece of ***** man. It was a spore developer. Check your ***** facts brother.
http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=7541 - inactive, on 10/28/2007, -1/+11Wooo!
I was hoping for this, my computer sucks. - Zoxy, on 10/30/2007, -1/+11Well you can use a mouse on the PS3 as well but the wii is also a good match.
- inactive, on 10/27/2007, -0/+9Wow... Damn, next time you want to troll, at least put a little effort into it. Seriously, that was just kind of sad.
- accessviolation, on 10/27/2007, -0/+9I don't think there are multiplayer aspects. It's just content downloaded via the internet. Will described the game as "massively single player."
- Garafraxa, on 10/29/2007, -0/+8Rather than try to shoehorn the whole thing onto the DS, I'd like to see a mini-campaign. Take your spore up to the level of insect or animal, then upload via wifi to PC or Wii and continue the evolution there.
- heynoop, on 10/27/2007, -4/+11*****. yes.
- cyranthus, on 10/27/2007, -3/+10look whos the one getting self-righteous? if you didnt care, you wouldnt of posted.
- directive0, on 10/28/2007, -0/+7Sorry, I can't follow your logic or agree with your conclusion. I have played and own all the current Wii FPS's and own many 360 and PC FPS's aswell. The Wiimote is not "retarded" for that purpose. Once you get comfortable to the idea of having a dead spot in the center of the screen and increase turn sensitivity the Wiimote becomes an extremely precision controller for shooters. No you can't "point offscreen" so in that sense it defies intuition, but once you get comfortable with how the system works and adjust to it, it's fantastic. It's easy to downplay something you cant figure out or get used to, however, and simply call it names.
As awesome as Halo 3 is on the 360, I am so tired of a dual analog stick control for FPS's that I am actually waiting for an FPS for the Wii that offers decent online and customization so I can spend more time with it. The current FPS's on the Wii have been severely limited in terms of complexity to allow people to adjust to the new method of control, only Metroid Prime 3 has so far been sufficiently well designed that it held my interest and still does even after Halo 3.
When it comes right down to it, it's preference. So I'm glad you're content with the current shooter offerings on the 360, but I would like to see more work done on the Wii. - Gustomucho, on 10/28/2007, -1/+8If you can run Bioshock, I am sure you can run this game. If the Wii is strong enough, you will have no problems. The Wii is pretty weak comparing to nowadays computers. Will said the graphics needs low processing.
- eightyd, on 10/28/2007, -0/+7lol! gg ea treatment!
- amneosis, on 10/28/2007, -2/+9calm down, internet-guy! I was only pissing about, slow day.
- Rockarollr, on 10/28/2007, -1/+7Just exactly how long has this "Spore" game been in development anyway? Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't it been several YEARS now?
I think I remember Robin Williams participating in a demo of the game over a year ago, leading me to believe it was near completion back then... - inactive, on 10/27/2007, -0/+6What are you talking about? You clearly haven't played a shooter on the Wii, or at least a good one. A good programmer can design a control scheme that's nearly as good as the mouse/keyboard combo. Go pick up a copy of MP3 if you don't believe me.
- MSTK, on 10/29/2007, -3/+9I remember that comment. He said that he hated the Wii because it stunted the progress of gaming as an art, and turned it into something just for casual, quick players. In fact, there was quite a lot of backlash for it. I'm a bit suspicious as to what caused him to change his mind, as well.
- fantasticFlan, on 10/27/2007, -1/+7MMORPG/FPS? You must be thinking of a different game. This is more a combo action/sim/civ/4x.
- sanman, on 10/28/2007, -0/+6Likewise, I too will apologize for the comment hijack, but I have a problem and am looking for informed expert opinions. I don't have a TV, I just have my LCD computer monitor and I just bought a Wii. How can I plug my Wii into my computer monitor? I'd read about transcoders, but some say they're good and some say they're bad.
I've already googled up some products:
www.vdigi.com
www.x2vga.com
www.xcm.com
I don't know which one will give the best results with my BenQ T903 LCD monitor. Can anybody advise? - nigh7dagger, on 10/27/2007, -1/+6You made me smile.
- emjaymj, on 10/30/2007, -0/+5The aiming has worked fine for games like Metroid, Call of Duty, and Zelda... there's a crosshair on the screen.
- knulpm, on 10/29/2007, -0/+5As another user pointed out below (with more acrimony) the person who made the comment about the Wii being a "piece of *****" and "two Gamecubes duct taped together" was not Will Wright, but a producer on the game by the name of Chris Hecker. He went on to make comments about how the Wii couldn't produce "art" because it's graphics were too weak and it's AI not powerful enough. Regardless of how people felt about the Wii, most people thought his comments were not only silly for equating art in games with pretty pixels, but inaccurate (the Wii's processor can handle advanced AI) and also not so good for business. In fact, Will Wright HAD come out and said he was in love with the Wii in previous interviews, so his position was opposite to that of his bosses. Needless to say he fired off a hasty apology that was transparently EA telling him "Apologize...or else"
- Beveridge89, on 10/27/2007, -3/+8Its more intelligent design than evolution. But its not really a god game exactly.
- aqzman, on 10/27/2007, -2/+7This is great news! I'm really excited to play this game, but I just don't think my computer will have the power to push it (I met the min specs for Bioshock), so if my computer can't play it, I'll be picking it up for Wii for sure.
- VenTatsu, on 10/28/2007, -1/+6How so? I've seen plenty of Spore movies and I haven't seen any graphics that couldn't be done on a 5 year old PC. The Wii can easily keep up with that.
- inactive, on 10/28/2007, -3/+8Yes it does deal with evolution, but you can also go around blowing up planets and having creatures worship you.
I can't wait to create my Flying Spaghetti Monster! -
