- Seacor, on 10/31/2007, -3/+53I was going to purchase the Wii version. Guess I'll wait now and see if the developers care enough to fix this. How could something like this be missed in testing???
- carpespasm, on 10/31/2007, -2/+47when we were playing it on my buddy's ps2 we thought there was a problem with multiplayer mode until we realized they purposely made it play from the channel of whoever's doing better, or center if you're both doing well. The end result is that it sounds like there's a pile of loose connections in your sound system.
- xerus, on 11/01/2007, -1/+26I don't even know if that's a trolling comment or a cry for help.
- j4nj1m3n3z, on 11/04/2007, -7/+25You should have gone out and bought Zack & Wiki. Its one hell of a Wii game.
- MrSidnet, on 11/02/2007, -0/+15It's only happened to me once.
- xerus, on 11/01/2007, -1/+16I think 8-bit Guitar Hero would be pretty sweet, actually...
- maisp, on 10/31/2007, -3/+18Yep, only center channel for me. Real shame too, I've had to use 5 channel mono output to make it sound halfway decent. What are the odds of a fix for this without a new disc pressing?
- xerus, on 10/31/2007, -1/+14Did they even run any QA on Guitar Hero III at all?
- Y2JCrisis, on 11/01/2007, -1/+13That's how i've been rocking it for years. You don't see me complaining.
- Ray_Justice, on 10/31/2007, -1/+12Actually there is plenty of content encoded specifically for Dolby Pro Logic II. While any PL II receiver can take a mono or stereo audio source and "fake" a surround sound environment, the end result will be much better if the audio source was encoded for PL II
With that said, PL II surround encoding sucks, TrueHD and DTS-HD ftw!! - greenlight2001, on 10/31/2007, -2/+13STFU
- bradcrc, on 10/31/2007, -1/+12a game based almost entirely on sound... I'd say this is important.
I'd imagine they will fix it. Either a new disc, or a downloadable update. Pay that much for a game, and you have a right to expect it to work as promised. - MrSidnet, on 11/02/2007, -0/+10It's never happened to me before.
- wiifm69, on 10/31/2007, -2/+9more problems with your linking ... yay
- seventoes, on 10/31/2007, -1/+8If you paid money for a MUSIC game that doesnt support surround sound, you'd want this on the front page too.
- johnhummel, on 10/31/2007, -0/+6I'm starting to wonder. PS3 and 360 versions have problems with buttons not working. PS3 versions have been reporting problems with timing lag between the wireless device and the console. Now the Wii version has Dolby issues.
My version for the PS3 just shipped from Amazon today - and I'm starting to get worried for when it arrives. It may be that when Harmonix left the Guitar Hero franchise, they also left behind the quality. I honestly hope not, but if my shipment doesn't work when I get back home from New York, I'll be very put out. - nymphetamine, on 10/31/2007, -0/+6I bet you're fun to talk to at parties! Hey guys, wanna talk about the war in Iraq?!
- IllBeBack, on 10/31/2007, -1/+7It's an error with the Digg comment system. When you edit a comment, URLs are truncated at the point where the ellipsis is inserted.
- wangl3r, on 10/31/2007, -1/+7Guitar Hero 3 is still good. It's not like the game is broken.
- filth, on 11/09/2007, -1/+7So, by that logic:
6 > 5
6 = 5
Or more appropriately:
Donuts > *****
Donuts = *****
Brilliant! - DCstewieG, on 10/31/2007, -0/+5Pro Logic II is MUCH better than the original. It even has a Music setting designed for (wait for it) MUSIC. It's designed for this reason...so that everything isn't pushed to the center channel. You can set how much spread there should be. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of it, but it's not bad, and does fill up a stereo signal in all speakers. No reason it should be coming out the center only unless it is a mono signal.
- beerden, on 10/31/2007, -1/+6QA often suffers because of a cancer within the company called a Sales and Marketing team. The Sales cancer pushes the development team to release inferior product early so that the QA team has a shorter schedule in which to test the product. This, despite the fact that the development team continually asserts the mantra, "it's done when it's done, no sooner." Often the illness is exacerbated by the Marketing team, which keeps thinking up new features that creep into the development requirements list. Like all cancers, Sales and Marketing don't care about their host product, except that they can get a big chunk of the profit back to them in the form of incentives bonuses and other kickbacks. Eventually the Development team becomes weak from the assault from both ends, and key members leave, and the product sucks by the time the third version is released.
This is why the even the most functional products are not completely useable and most of the stuff you find in Best Buy are overpriced crap. So don't blame Research and Development, always blame instead the smarmy parasitic cancers that are Sales and Marketing. :) - inactive, on 10/31/2007, -2/+7OT, I know, but my 360 GH3 controller is seriously borked. It seems the Green and Orange keys have a mind of their own. Send me a shout if yours seems ***** too.
Beef - Azuroth, on 10/31/2007, -0/+4Thanks for that, I've always wondered why sometime my links get cut and sometimes they don't
- ubergeek09, on 10/31/2007, -5/+9That stinks for people expecting to play it with their surround sound system, since this would really be a great game for surround sound. I'm sure they will release and update and fix this soon enough though.
- st3vo, on 10/31/2007, -0/+4720p-1080p ftw.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/31/2007, -4/+8I look at your screenname, and laugh at your optimism.
- hipnerd, on 10/31/2007, -4/+8Or it could be that if a game is designed across platforms, it is seldom tailored to take advantage of the Wii's strength: its unique control scheme. Games built for the Wii from the ground up have a much better chance of utilizing the motion-sensing Wiimote to good advantage.
- daridave, on 10/31/2007, -3/+6Again, the hardware (Wii) suffers bad reputation because of bad software. While it's somehow true for every system, it's ridiculous with the Wii. The ratio of games that actually use the system for what it is worth is the lowest of all systems, and then 3rd parties complain that Nintendo/1st party titles eat the sales up. Whatever happened to TRYING ?! Will it ever change? I was convinced of getting the Wii version, but with this, my 360 just won the dilemma ...
- freetyme, on 10/31/2007, -1/+4while they're fixing this how about they convince Nintendo to let you use the SD card slot for downloadable content, you know get ready to kill the next bird while you're working on killing this one, just a thought.
- BabyWookie, on 11/01/2007, -0/+3GH games have a lot of other sounds beside the songs: audience noise, audio cues, sound fx etc. They sound great in 5.1.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 11/01/2007, -0/+3that was just stupid, didn't make sense and was not even on topic.
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/31/2007, -6/+9In a general sense, yes.
- Recoil, on 10/31/2007, -0/+3I know what you mean man. They're like "Oh well, Nintendo's games always sell better that ours so I guess there's no point in trying eh?". Maybe if they stopped putting out old crappy ports and did something creative with the hardware, 3rd party Wii games would have a better reputation. Companies like Konami and Capcom are paving the way for exciting Wii games while other companies like Ubisoft and EA see Wii as just another platform to port their games to for a quick 'n' easy buck.
- sofaKing812, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2I had the same ***** going on with mine. All other wii games, ps2 games, and dvds still work fine with my system, so it's not my system.
Does anyone know if this is an all around issue, or if it varies from disc to disc? - seneyr, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2I'm confused. Aren't most songs recorded in Stereo? Why would this game have Surround sound if the music is normally recorded in Stereo? Of course everything is gonna come through the center channels since there's nothing to send through the other speakers.
- WeatherServo42, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2This is not correct. It is not working perfectly or even at all.
NO, PRO LOGIC II SUPPORT IS NOT WORKING IN GUITAR HERO III
This game is outputting mono sound. It is completely irrelevant what mode you have Pro Logic II decoding set for. In all of these modes you should have sound coming from all 5 speakers. The only reason you're getting sound from other speakers in music mode is because the adds some additional processing to "widen" the soundstage and prevent too much from going to the center channel with typical music. The "surround sound" you are getting from Guitar Hero III is not correct, it's a side effect of the oddity of music mode in Pro Logic II.
This game IS BROKEN. end of story. - Mrstupid7, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2It's been like that since at least gh2.
- srgtTarantula, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2Hey, then move to America buddy.
Be an Ameri-can not an Ameri-can't. - RotJ, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2Although a stereo source can be specifically encoded to take advantage of Pro Logic by using a Pro Logic or Dolby Surround matrix, you're right about this game being completely in mono. Which is why the current advice of Activision tech support to set the Wii to stereo mode is useless.
You should never be getting all the audio out of only the center speaker when Pro Logic is turned on if you're getting a stereo signal. It doesn't matter whether it's regular stereo or Dolby surround enhanced stereo. The Pro Logic decoder will at the least be able to split the signal into left, right, and center. Test this with any game other than Guitar Hero or the Wii channels music with the Wii set to stereo and Pro Logic turned on on the receiver, and anyone will be able to tell the difference between mono Guitar Hero and stereo EVERYTHING ELSE. - dae3dae3, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2I think it is hilarious how anyone who has a clue about how Dolby Pro Logic II works and knows that it just turns stereo into simulated surround is being dug down. I guess the 12 year olds are running the comment system. FYI: This is coming from somebody with a absulutely riduculous home theater so I actually know what I am talking about here. Sfontain is absolutely correct and no amount of digging down will correct that.
- coasterswim, on 10/31/2007, -8/+10The Wii can do EDTV, thankyouverymuch.
- PunkRampant, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2Well for me it seems I have to press unusually hard on the buttons. Pushing them like normal doesn't work, I have to remember to apply real pressure.
- srgtTarantula, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1oh yeah? well your dad has a faulty penis and your adopted so take that.
- Azuroth, on 10/31/2007, -2/+3Wrong. Try again.
- X9001, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2Why cant programmers these days get something to work the first ***** time around?
- mastertop, on 10/31/2007, -2/+3Yep, truly owns.
- krd1979, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2I played it the other night and was getting PLII... it sounds pretty good actually.
- inactive, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1why the ***** did you click on it then dumbass?
