- Doomsan, on 05/06/2008, -8/+44this is only getting dugg because MrBabyMan submitted it
- Skanadian, on 05/07/2008, -3/+26***** this blogspam Mr.BabyMan *****, I'm digging your story.
- arcticblue, on 05/07/2008, -1/+17Because the very first one was submitted 50 days ago when the first video came out. This is a new video.
- yohnstoppable, on 05/07/2008, -4/+13ya, that would suck to get banned and miss out on nintendo's great online system...
- linuxrocks2007, on 05/07/2008, -0/+9The irony of that sentence blows my mind. Oh wai- *kaboom*
- inactive, on 05/06/2008, -3/+11If only they would release how to make your own custom wii menu graphics! Amazing job none the less.
- maduin, on 05/07/2008, -0/+8You don't need a Wiikey for this.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 05/06/2008, -1/+9You can only re-download them on the same Wii that they were purchased from.
- STKD, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7Then you might need to raise your level of understanding. This is the company who stuck with carts throughout *because* of piracy concerns, had the GameCube disc barcode system, updated the firmware in the Pearl white Cubes to prevent certain exploits, blocked Freeloader/AR within a week or so of the Wii being released... I could go on.
- gamerzfuse, on 05/07/2008, -1/+6This has such great potential.
If only WiiMiidia was XBMC.. this would be a dream. - coheedcollapse, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5Yeah, I thought about it a bit more and I realized how vigorously they attack fan-made versions of old games that they'll never bring to the public. My bad.
- n0sferatu, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4The irony is striking.
- ihatea1sauce, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4The ironing is delicious.
- puzzud, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4I notice Bushings (author) is using the ***** out of the crystal icon theme from KDE.
- lead2thehead, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4Sweet... so who wants to write Super Pii Pii Brothers?
http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/41/superpiipii.html - coheedcollapse, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2The firmware isn't changed at all in the process of booting pirated games on the Wii. A mod chip is installed on the DVD drive that temporarily circumvents the copy protection at the main screen then goes silent after its job is done. The authentication server or whatever shouldn't be able to tell the difference between a copied disc and a full version disc.
I know they've changed the boards around and even changed up the firmware to disable certain methods of getting stuff running, but so far they haven't banned consoles or IP addresses. - iofthestorm, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Do you mean to say you've tested Wii Miidia? How is it? Is it this WiiMiidia you're talking about?
http://www.console-scene.info/forums/wii-homebrew- ... - sardiax, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2If you compare that article with this article, that one was posted ~4-5 hours earlier.
- BearinG, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2What kind of pirate games? They must do something on those long boat trips..
- justice7, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2will this require a modchip? Pardon my ignorance, i didnt see this noted anywhere.
- sanman, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2I'd love to see a Wii homebrew game that was like Wii Jogging combined with Line Rider, where you'd be able to jog through scenery created and contributed by others. You could choose to download the most popular scenes authored by others, and then have a nice jog through some cool scenic background vista. Then you could post your rating of the scene on some channel. So it would have fitness aspects and artistic aspects too, rolled into one.
- McallenSchmee, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1No, but you will need Zelda. Here's some more info: http://wiibrew.org/index.php?title=Twilight_Hack
- mywhitenoise, on 05/06/2008, -1/+2Get a $30 mod chip.
- gamerzfuse, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2That is next to impossibly, alas.. the modding community HAS surprised me before.
- DesdinovaEL, on 05/07/2008, -3/+4Um. I don't know what this is.
- Klarth, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1He's not just using it... He's using the ***** out of it!
- Ashkc88, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2I can play hours of Doom still and that was released before the N64 was. I also played a ton of Wolfenstein3D & Spear of Destiny today, even though I beat them both a million times. I could actually spend hours playing any old school game, not just because I grew up with all of the older systems since Atari, but because they are still unique and enjoyable. They may not be fresh, but they are still fun.
- bagboyrebel, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1I'm going to go ahead and assume this is a troll, it just doesn't feel like a legit comment.
- gamerzfuse, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1Unlikely.. but possible?
That would mean modifying the protection which I believe is built into the DVD drive.. - manifestdestiny, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1i think it will be able to be loaded from the Twilight hack but i guess we'll just have to wait and see
- iofthestorm, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1It's a hacked channel for the Nintendo Wii that lets you run unsigned code, aka homebrew programs. Pretty awesome, it pretty much means once you've got the channel installed you've got homebrew forever, except in the rare circumstance that Nintendo sends out an update that (most likely unintentionally) bricks Wiis with the hacked channel. I don't think they'd do it on purpose, because their update message warns about installing updates if you've got a modded Wii, and so far homebrew doesn't pose a threat to their bottom line (besides emulation stealing $$$ from VC, but anyone who can get emulators on their Wii probably would have just played emulators on PC instead.)
- BearinG, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1Inaccurate... If you are connecting to a server.. they can ban your whole damn country if they want to.
If Virtual games are linked to your console, they have a way of identifying you. That's all they need. Not saying its gonna happen.. but its never impossible - Gregbertt, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1True, but I believe I'll have a whiskey anyway.
Wait..Wiikey? - looselips, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1What about the games I still own on older generation machines?
I can't even find the rom for SM-Allstars, sorry but tv's only have so many inputs and my wife would kill if I hooked up all my game systems.
Plus my next would be my 2001+ dreamcast.
They would not have a problem getting people to buy vc if the games were priced more reasonably and more of our classics were available, NOW!. Not to mention how few games you can fit on only 512mb. I choose to leave the wii space for n64 and channels. So, I use a generic 512mb for other games I once owned, and a few nin-titles I still do own.
I hate nintendo for not enabling the wiimote classic controller on gamecube games. It was home-brew which finally made me break out my gc controller+ extension. I know vc games are playable with the CC but if they cannot fix gcube at least some intelligent coders will finally get a good chance to get it done.
Perhaps the coders will figure out a way to remove the injury nag-screens from the wii completely, as well.
And ha to you, I don't have to update the firmware if I do not want to.
The only way for N to kill the bug is to force issue new discs. At most they could kill the no-cd loader but we will still have our twilight's still loading.
http://wiibrew.org/ to find the twilight pack .3 to get it rolling on a fat/fat16 formatted sd card.
I don't rip off anyone; I just want what I legally own and what is due.
Personally roms are what they use, and they should be more concerned about mod-chips, imports, and copies instead of games they already made millions from, and are trying to double sell. - iofthestorm, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1Except this doesn't require a modchip, just a copy of Zelda.
- mywhitenoise, on 05/06/2008, -3/+3Yeah, I called them up a few times and asked for the higher-ups at Nintendo. I know Sonys policy is that you can share your store bought content onto 5 other PS3 consoles...I hope they don't change that.
- zwaldowski, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2No, wait a couple of months. Region-free play will follow with backup play. Save your warranty.
- yohnstoppable, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2Wow, no goldeneye or perfect dark fans here? Didn't expect to get dugg down for that.
As far as dated goes, I don't care. I'm not expecting Cal-I goldeneye, but it would be fun to play vs some friends for old time's sake. Hell, I had some friends over for goldeneye not a few months ago, and it was a blast. Controls sucked and the graphics were horrendous, but it was a good time. Nostalgia ftw - bigolblob, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1lolnvm
- chesstwin, on 05/06/2008, -3/+3I like
- SkippyDoorknob, on 05/06/2008, -4/+4And this is why the somehow Nintendo will squash the Twilight Hack. They MIGHT have looked the other way if it was just homebrew test stuff, but now that you can steal VC and WiiWare games from it, its days are numbered.
- yugiohdan6, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2yeah... and microsoft can't tell whether or not your using a copied disc either...
honestly they just have to check the firmware on the drive and deny you access to the online service (or even the console) - looselips, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1I'd rather have one of these! CD's are so 20th century.
http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=27369
Do not try backups or imports as rumor has it wiis are getting bricked. - MidnightRealism, on 05/07/2008, -2/+1So...you'd sit on your couch and wiggle your arms? Even if you get up and jog in place what a terrible idea.
- coheedcollapse, on 05/07/2008, -3/+2From what I understand, Nintendo has a history of ignoring piracy and concentrating more on appealing to the mainstream. A good idea when you think about how small the amount of money that they're losing compared to the amount they make from the families and kids that they appeal to.
- yohnstoppable, on 05/07/2008, -2/+1How would that be impossible? I've seen plenty of emulators for various systems with online capabilities
