- nymphetamine, on 02/26/2008, -0/+57I remember in the beginning getting excited to see my Wii flashing blue hoping to see something cool. And now... updates. Lame updates. *sigh*
- bob889, on 02/26/2008, -9/+63now we need an update that destroys the whole "friend code" worthless excuse for an idea.
- arsheroica, on 02/26/2008, -0/+45"God, I'm trying to sleep!"
Wii, (pulsating) "I'm afraid I can't let you do that, Dave." - iofthestorm, on 02/26/2008, -3/+34And I quote:
"CalcProgrammer1 said...
Twilight Hack STILL WORKING!!!!!!
I updated first, then found out about the hack, and I was like NOOOOOOOO, but then I tried the hack, and what do ya know...
IT WORKS!
Don't worry about this update, it doesn't break save copying (you can still copy the Twilight Hack save to your Wii) and the hack still works."
I'm glad, anyway. Can't wait for homebrew to kick off on Wii with no extra devices required (currently I think you need a USB-Gecko or some such thing). Kind of weird that they'd do such a minor update, but then it is a nice touch. - doshindude, on 02/26/2008, -1/+31all this update seems to do is let you know if there's an update required for games on the wii menu...nothing else.
- karlhite, on 02/26/2008, -1/+28mine like.. flashes blue. I would never use the term "glow" to describe it. Totally sporadic and random, kinda flickery and broken feeling.
- fadetoone, on 02/26/2008, -6/+28I like it when I get an update notification from the INTERNET and then try to install it and suddenly my Wii can't connect to INTERNET to download it. It IS the same internet, isn't it?
- SDNick484, on 02/26/2008, -1/+23All of which could have been achieved without friend codes. I could understand Nintendo making friend codes mandatory if a parental control option was enabled, but to force it upon all users is a mistake.
- Abominous, on 02/26/2008, -1/+22no you're not alone.
I send myself emails just to keep the blue light on. - Koush, on 02/26/2008, -10/+27Phew...and here i thought the WiiClock was about to get bigger then it already is.
- jjpertusch, on 02/26/2008, -2/+18i LOVE the blue glow. my favorite part of the check mii out channel is that i get updates all the time causing it to glow.
it seems im in the minority here. - khedoros, on 07/31/2009, -0/+16Just this Friday, an internet was e-mailed to me, and I didn't receive it until this Monday!
- SparkyPine, on 02/26/2008, -0/+15I'd recommend using a USB stick to take parts of the internet home with you each night incrementally. Might take a while but...baby steps.
- Jauladeoro, on 08/27/2008, -0/+15Am I the only one who barely understands how my Wii works? I just put the disk in and play the games. I don't understand the updates or the twilight hack or homebrew stuff. I knew this day would come. I'm officially too old to understand the "kids today".
- bbqsalad, on 02/26/2008, -2/+15No.
- Dubbsacc, on 02/26/2008, -1/+12It's a different Internet every day.
- GvnMcCld, on 02/26/2008, -1/+11Mine glows lighter and darker, and it really does seem like it's a random pulse.
- trunkster, on 02/26/2008, -8/+18Why do they always make it start glowing blue when I'm ***** asleep. That's really something to wake up to.
- NOFXY, on 02/26/2008, -1/+11but you can ignore her long enough to be on digg :)
- AndrewDB, on 02/26/2008, -1/+11Whatever the update is, it's tiny, usually when the Wii wants an update, I let it update, walk away, then come back after a few minutes.. but this one finished before I even walked away.
I think it's a prep for the new channels we'll be getting soon. - pintomp3, on 02/26/2008, -0/+10digg is his girlfriend.
- linuxrocks2007, on 02/26/2008, -1/+10You sold your Wii just for the Everybody Votes Channel not having a feature you wanted? What a baby
- SSUK, on 02/26/2008, -0/+9the blue light should be a feature you can keep constantly on while the console is powered up.
- exscind, on 02/26/2008, -0/+8Give me your number and I'll fax you the right one.
- harrison5394, on 02/26/2008, -0/+7You're so cool!
- cawpin, on 02/26/2008, -1/+8There's something wrong with yours. Mine is just a slow pulsing blue glow.
- zelab, on 02/26/2008, -1/+8There probably isn't a way for Nintendo to patch the Twilight Hack. It only runs by crashing Twilight Princess, which means the vulnerability is on the TP disk. The only way Nintendo is going to patch that is by forcing replacements, and nobody will go for that.
- Buelldozer, on 02/26/2008, -0/+7Not necessarily. They could be trying to distribute the load on their servers over time. Do the prep now and the actual channels later. Just sayin'.
- s0nicfreak, on 02/26/2008, -1/+8It's like waking up to presents on Christmas Day!!
- aladrin, on 02/26/2008, -0/+6Yes, it glows blue to tell you there's a message waiting. You -can- turn that feature off in the preferences.
- exscind, on 02/26/2008, -4/+10A Wii SDK would be awesome and greatly appreciated, but you're clearly deluded if you believe fandom somehow constitutes entitlement. Fans don't DESERVE anything, apart from what they pay for as consumers.
- SSUK, on 02/26/2008, -0/+6I don't think they can. If they could, they would have done it to reset the crash error in PAL versions of Super Paper Mario. That or they just don't give a ***** for PAL ga-- oh... I hate it when I answer my own questions.
- sremick, on 02/26/2008, -0/+6You can't simultaneously bitch about it being annoying while at the same time say you know how to turn it off but simply choose not to. Your choice, so stop complaining.
- Misanthrope, on 02/26/2008, -0/+5Man, it's genuinely not that complex of a system. And damn, old nerds have been running homebrew since computers came into existence...certainly not just "the kids today".
- aladrin, on 02/26/2008, -0/+5Sounds like yours has issues.
- arsheroica, on 02/26/2008, -0/+5“Aoyama then pointed out how the blue flashing light on the Wii that lets you know when you have a new message is actually timed to the bird call of the Japanese bush warbler, a tiny bird whose distinctive chirp is heard throughout Japan in the spring and summer. The flashing of the blue light syncs up perfectly to the timing of the bird’s chirp. No, really.“
You guys are going to think I'm full of *****, but you can read about it here. Pretty weird stuff. -
http://www.thetanooki.com/2008/02/24/forget-playin ... - cawpin, on 02/26/2008, -0/+5Yes, it's a feature and you can turn it off.
- kevyn, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4NOOOO I thought digg was my girlfriend? slut.
- jer2eydevil88, on 02/26/2008, -0/+4Why couldn't that just make make changes to the underlying operating system... (i.e. it detects software has crashed and forces system restart).
- mywhitenoise, on 02/26/2008, -1/+5I think it gave me a warning that it was going to update when I put in Mario Galaxy and the Japanese version of Smash Bros.
- Cloud7654, on 02/26/2008, -0/+4If a small blue glow can wake you up at night, might I suggest some sleeping pills?
- jer2eydevil88, on 02/26/2008, -0/+4LikesStuff is right bout one thing, we need something like the XNA for the Wii!!! Nintendo Wii games are getting to the shelves finally but with so many consoles sold I imagine independent developers would love to take a crack at making games for it.
- doshindude, on 02/26/2008, -0/+4go into options if you want it off.
- khedoros, on 07/31/2009, -0/+4And since you don't have internet access at home...Get Back To Work!
- Buelldozer, on 02/26/2008, -0/+4WTF are you talking about? A finalized Wii SDK has been available since June of 2006! As I recall it's pretty damn cheap too.
- Slayerdude51982, on 02/26/2008, -0/+4honestly I use to get thrilled when the light went on, I knew something big was coming but not every time I see it it's just like "oh it must be another check mii out update." Don't get me wrong I love the light, I think it would be great if it lit up when you played games and have a disc in, but there's nothing like going into a the room when it's all dark and all you see is this eerie blue glow, there were times last semester where I woke up and the light was on and I just go WTF?!
- s0nicfreak, on 02/26/2008, -0/+4riiiiiiiiiiiight.
- Misanthrope, on 02/26/2008, -2/+6Yeah, if Santa brought you something like a remote control holder or something ***** like that.
- sremick, on 02/26/2008, -0/+4No it doesn't have to be wireless. Get the USB LAN adapter.
- MaHaGoN, on 02/26/2008, -0/+3Mine does a similar thing. It glows but then flashes a few times. I think it has something to do with number of messages?
