- evozero, on 12/02/2007, -8/+90say hello to the newest fitness fad.
i like how it doesn't support people over 300 pounds. bad news for the american market. - chan0429, on 12/02/2007, -2/+53Gym membership $40 or so dollars a month. Wii Fit one time payment of $49. I'll try out Wii Fit before signing up at a gym.
- darkNiGHTS, on 12/02/2007, -4/+51I can see it now:
"Wii Fit - American Editon! Now able to support people up to 500 lbs!" - darkchild82, on 12/02/2007, -6/+48yet another money maker for Nintendo.
- skywake, on 12/02/2007, -0/+33The idea of Wii Fit itself doesn't interest me, its the balance board where I see some potential. If you look around for some of the minigames that Wii Fit has then you will start to understand why. There are Monkey Ball type games where you move your centre of balance to move the ball, skiing games where you move your centre of balance to steer. If 3rd parties pick up on this then it might be very possible to have something like "Segway, the FPS" :P
- TheRealDj, on 12/02/2007, -6/+35Gamespot gives this a 9.9 out of 10
- Smwbigboss, on 12/02/2007, -3/+30Because fat people are lazy.
- inactive, on 12/02/2007, -3/+29I'm actually vaguely looking forward to it - it's one step closer to the day when my Wii can manage all aspects of my life for me.
- darkNiGHTS, on 12/02/2007, -1/+24Wii Fit is probably more fun.
- BlueSkyfish, on 12/02/2007, -1/+24That's what I thought at first, but since everything slimthps says is wrong, this game will sell like crazy.
- Tenetri, on 12/02/2007, -3/+23they'll buy it, and it will sit in their closet for a short eternity as soon as its out of the box
- Daniel591992, on 12/02/2007, -1/+18How about running? Free.
- homesickalien, on 12/02/2007, -2/+16Likely because the balance board would shatter under the weight of an average american. ;)
- erekose, on 12/02/2007, -0/+14The WiiFIt is a lot of fun. We bought ours yesterday. The balance game section has fun stuff like slalom skiing where you play more traditional "games" while improving your balance.
- xtc46, on 12/02/2007, -2/+14but for general fitness you dont need a gym, you can just go for a jog or do anything that gets you moving (like this game). So for the people who like games, this is just fun and good for them. if you want to get all cut up then ht the gym, but to add a few years to your life and not be a lard this game can help.
- Fennmacon, on 12/02/2007, -0/+11I CARES ABOUT AMERICA
- Nerfdude, on 12/02/2007, -4/+15take that, america. ha ha ha.
/sarcasm - Chakz, on 12/02/2007, -2/+13you fail
- bwishey, on 12/02/2007, -0/+10Hint: Click on the title, it's a link.
- mathmanjeffy, on 12/02/2007, -1/+10There are a lot better and more efficient ways than going to the gym for getting in shape as well.
- Daniel591992, on 12/02/2007, -0/+8Well... In that case, you have bigger problems than staying in shape.
- smoger, on 12/02/2007, -1/+9do want! i've gotten myself into shape over the past year through walking(and common sense diet changes). since late january i've lost 55 lbs and was hoping wii fit would be out closer to the beginning of the year, since it's getting really cold outside, and i can't walk as much as i did in the spring/summer. this is going to fit into my life very nicely. i'll be in line on day 1. ..and for the general public..i have a feeling this could be the next wii sports.
- Okari, on 12/02/2007, -1/+8It could cost a trip to the hospital depending on where you live.
- ingoldsby, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7Correction, DDR is a much better CARDIO workout than this will be - but for a good blend of strength and cardio this will be better than DDR.
- Shanobi, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7I'm sorry you can't see the obvious.
- 42Vindictive, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7Someone doesn't understand whats going on with GS... :P
- Okari, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7Way to go, you learned how to change your keyboard language.
- inactive, on 12/02/2007, -1/+8In Minnesota in January? I'll pass.
- KaiUno, on 12/02/2007, -1/+7Wasn't it apparant in the title? If you don't give a *****, why even bother entering the thread, reading the replies and posting a stupid reply (most of it in caps, no less)? And on a saturday night no less. What does that say about you?
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 12/02/2007, -2/+7it makes you realize how differently Nintendo handles gaming than its competitors. It's "games" like this that make me respect Nintendo for trying new things.
- avidlinuxuser, on 12/02/2007, -0/+5According to posters on Neogaf, the answer is yes. It's easy to do a push-up. However, Wii fit requires precise and correct pushups. That's one thing exercising by yourself can never give you.
- Mrstupid7, on 12/02/2007, -0/+5Some people also have really bad knees that keep them from running for extended periods of time. I know my knees keep me from running for more than 30 minutes, although I can do a lot of other ***** as long as I can sit down for about five or ten minutes.
- mal1964, on 12/02/2007, -0/+5No I'm not that far yet, I just got the copy and paste part.
- CheezIt9109, on 12/02/2007, -1/+6Seriously? It looks like a good light fun game like Wii Sports. Ever hear of that game? It is getting similar reception from people who have actually played it.
On top of the fun little games, it also has a few exercise options, and will track BMI or weight over time (BMI being a bit silly).
And future games will use the board (a snowboard game from a third party dev is already in the works).
Sounds pretty sweet to me. But then, I'm not some insecure whiny little console-kiddy who can't deal with my obsession of choice being seen as more mainstream.
Also, the reason it is not available in America yet is because the weight limit will (if I am not mistaken) be increased. Sad.
I predict certain (insecure) gamers whining about this game for years to come. Grow up. - Shanobi, on 12/02/2007, -1/+6Tell that to my parents who are getting it, me, my sister, and my buddy paul. All people I know are buying this the day it comes out.
- diggdowner, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4World Class Track Meet!
- Linh, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4thank you, someone that understands where this might go.
wiifit itself seems interesting, in the way wii sports is. I can see it being a fun pick up game for when you randomly have ppl over. - shawnanigans, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4I wonder if Nintendo would revise the board for Westerners, who are for the most part larger. Even if we take away the weight issue they are also taller and more broad.
- GCarden, on 12/02/2007, -3/+7...and Japan says, "Ouch!"
Sorry, had to. - Nerfdude, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4more than likely, it hasn't been released in america yet because nintendo releases everything they make in japan before they release it in other countries. this shouldn't be news to anyone.
- tahcoboy, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4
well we can at least agree that it beats sitting and doing nothing - inactive, on 12/02/2007, -13/+17something tells me this isn't going to be a big hit in America
- Mrstupid7, on 12/03/2007, -0/+4I'm sure fat people love going to the gym and watching all the fit people doing exercises with no problems while they're struggling. Probably doesn't affect their motivation at all.
- foofightrs777, on 12/02/2007, -1/+5Well, nintendo will be back on top of the charts this week I'm sure.
- Philbert, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4Honestly the people I see on a daily basis (here in America) are not all that heavy. I might see 2 out of 15 people in a day who look heavy set.
- Okari, on 12/02/2007, -3/+7I'll get it, but DDR is a way better workout than this will ever be.
- Philbert, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3"and common sense diet changes"
It may seem like common sense, yet people all over are sitting at McDonalds and KFC wondering why they aren't losing any weight. - KingBabi, on 12/02/2007, -1/+4I hope they alter it for European and American markets. I doubt that thing is big enough for our large feet.
- kravex, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3With Nintendos money you'd think they'd have paid for, sorry 'got a' 10.
