- Joker99352, on 10/28/2009, -0/+48Someone has waaaaaaaay too much free time.
- doshindude, on 10/28/2009, -4/+41YAY! Even MORE pixellation and distortion!
- inactive, on 10/29/2009, -1/+20What kinda dumb ass question is this?
It would *gasp* look a bit bigger. - deanrows, on 10/29/2009, -0/+16Here it is. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10385975-1.htm ...
- MrBenC, on 10/28/2009, -2/+18"it's much bigger!" .... that's what she DIDN'T say.
even 4 inches is hardly skookum. (yeah its a real word) - trdrstv, on 10/29/2009, -0/+16With the Extra size, you'd think they could put the GBA slot back in....
- chaosblade77, on 10/29/2009, -1/+16Same resolution. Your DSi's screens will look better since these will just have bigger pixels, therefore a blockier image.
It's pretty clear this is a niche model, and that despite what Nintendo is saying, it's for people with poor vision. - dashdingo, on 10/29/2009, -2/+14Nintendo are a bunch of *****. I just bought my DSi a month or two ago, and now they're coming out with a bigger and better one for the same price.
God damnit. - aurorous, on 10/29/2009, -1/+12yea... that's why it's called a videogame
- junaeroplane, on 10/29/2009, -0/+10the same :(
- Cubeforce, on 10/29/2009, -1/+10Same resolution, pretty much the "aimed at older people" model.
- photochopped, on 10/29/2009, -0/+7This makes me remember the good old days of gameboy magnifying screens.
http://www.goldstargames.com/v/vspfiles/photos/ret ... - Yomoska, on 10/29/2009, -0/+7It would look like this http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/9/2009/10/50 ...
http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/kotaku/2009/ ... - Hindukid, on 10/29/2009, -0/+6Skookum is a Chinook jargon word that has come into general use in British Columbia and Yukon Territory in Canada, and in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.
The word skookum has three meanings:
1. a word in regional English that has a variety of positive connotations;
2. a monster; similar to the sasquatch
3. a souvenir doll once common in the United States in tourist areas.

wow totally learned something new Thanks MrBenC :D - jholden42, on 10/29/2009, -0/+6I feel like at that point, size-wise, you might as well just get a netbook to fart around on instead.
I dunno, personally I'm going to stick with my old-school dim-screen bulky original DS, because it still does what I purchased it for: playing DS and GBA games. - Eurynom0s, on 10/29/2009, -0/+6It would look like a DS with a 4" screen?
- homtherobot, on 10/29/2009, -0/+5this is no different from choosing between 24 inch and 26 inch monitors when both max at 1920x1200. the 26 inch is bigger, but it's only stretching the same image. it's no better than taking a photo, blowing it up 200% in both directions with paint, and thinking it looks 4 times better.
- Fleagleman, on 10/29/2009, -3/+8The screen will either:
a) Look about .75 inches bigger than it is now, or
b) Resemble the Greek Goddess Athena in all her beauty
I think if option 'b' is correct, then we have a story. - Vaiper, on 10/29/2009, -0/+5It looks .75 inches bigger...right? Am I missing something here?
- pfhayter, on 10/29/2009, -0/+5Leave my mom out of this and I'll leave this out of your mom.
- nickkuk, on 10/29/2009, -0/+4its not a rumour, its official. It will be released in Japan next month and Europe and the USA in March.
It doesnt replace the DSi, it just has a bigger screen at the same resolution and a fat stylus for old people. - douglasr007, on 10/29/2009, -0/+4Nintendo still are hardasses when it comes to piracy. I bet once they find a way to get GBA games to play without allowing malicious code to run, they will add the functionality back in. (In other words, probably not because they hate pirates but then again they love money with releasing a new version of a handheld every 6 months like the DS Lite, GBA Micro, GBA SP, GBA, DSi, GB Light, GB Pocket, GB Color, and now DSi phat)
- phbohn2, on 10/29/2009, -0/+4you could always start a boycott. they seem to be popular.
- sageerrant, on 10/29/2009, -0/+4Yeah, but this one would finally be comfortable to hold, instead of designed for tiny Japanese hands. And you'd have finer touchscreen control.
Battery life could go either way. - photochopped, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3You should be mad, it would have gone great with your over-sized remote and Jitterbug phone.
- fluidfoundation, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3like an eMate 300.
- CynicalTyler, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3Anyone want to say they CTRL+F'd this guy's mom? Anyone?
- Langford, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3Will it have a GBA slot? Will it had DSi features? It would have to have both if it's going to tempt me.
- KJSatz, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3Well that's what I did when I got a 19" 5:4 LCD and a 22" 16:10 LCD.
- KJSatz, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3Naw like when I got the 19" LCD it's 1280x1024, and there are also 17" LCDs (5:4) that are 1280x1024. More $ for bigger pixels.
And with my 22" LCD it's 1680x1050, and there are also 20" LCDs (16:10) that are 1680x1050. More $ for bigger pixels. - pfhayter, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3I CTRL+F'd this comment.
- Steev0, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2Gotta love those pixelated Pictochat drawings.
- Elranzer, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2I like the new stylus at least. I've been using a PDA stylus for my current DS because the toy stylus is just too small.
- Solkre, on 10/29/2009, -1/+3So are we talking a larger screen at the same resolution, or a real upgrade?
- veriix, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2This is so dumb, why are they comparing with a wide screen?
- Portezbie, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2They are forgetting some of the most important things that made the DS LITE great: It was compact and cheap. A DS that is the same price, or almost the same price as a PSP and can't fit in your pants pocket is far less appealing. Of course the most important thing still to be seen is how easy it will be to get flashcards working on it :-)
- Zippo, on 10/29/2009, -1/+3Already a new DS model? Man, anyone who bought a DSi must be angry.
- weddle, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2I hope that it is less than $220
- nickkuk, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2This is what it looks like, from Nintendo's Japanese website:
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/dsiLL/index.html#/siz ...
Its a DSi for old folk. - BabySinister, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2oh hey thanks, your right nintendo confirmed it yesterday. i need to spend more time on the webs
damn work - nickkuk, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2nope
- commyostrich, on 10/30/2009, -0/+2Dang! I had one of those things. You had to jerry rig the power cord for it to fit into your battery slot and it ate batteries like crazy! But that light and big ol' powered stereo speakers were pretty awesome. What a ridiculous but cool accessory.
- jakeorhodes, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Nintendo sure are good at milking every penny aren't they?
- rabidlemur, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2Skookum is also the name of a company in Washington state that provides jobs for developmentally delayed individuals.
- Pxtl, on 10/30/2009, -0/+2This isn't for you. This is for old people who can't see on a normal DSi.
- wizardfingers, on 10/30/2009, -0/+2wth, why did they make it bigger and didn't add a gba slot? Hm... I wonder if it can fit in my pocket.
- monodelasno, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1Article wasn't very clear, is it bigger?
- Odindusk, on 10/29/2009, -2/+3The pixel count is rumored to remain the same, making this a fake upgrade. Pay more $ for bigger pixels? SOUNDS HOT
- phbohn2, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1so...it's bigger.
- gcauthon, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1* 3.25" viewable
