- tankexmortis, on 01/12/2008, -15/+294Not a surprise that our orders were canceled, but their claim that we canceled them ourselves seems borderline fraudulent.
- exomni, on 01/12/2008, -14/+227I wouldn't have minded if they sent me an email apologizing for the price-error, hell, I don't even need any compensation (though most other sites would be decent enough to send a lincoln in store credit or SOMETHING), just a little apology or a bit of respect for the trouble they caused me.. some human decency, would do it for me.
This "your request to cancel" stuff just adds insult to injury. - rjmoon25, on 01/12/2008, -16/+138I had my orders canceled as well. They send you an email claiming that you requested a cancellation of the order, which obviously none of has. But also the cancellation policy on there website is, "You cannot cancel your order after you click Place Your Order on the "Confirm and Submit" page." So they arent even following their own policies. I wont ever shop there again. Walmart both sucks and blows.
- tankexmortis, on 01/12/2008, -7/+128Also interesting: when I finished my transaction, the cost was around 21 bucks. Their email says I've been refunded for around 19 bucks.
So what happened to all of our shipping costs? Surely thousands of people jumped on this offer. That's a lot of missing 3 dollar shipping fees... - tacojohn48, on 01/12/2008, -4/+106Anyone who works in retail hears that phrase about once per day, sometimes you want to ask if they promise.
- inactive, on 01/12/2008, -6/+83From their own terms of use on WalMart.com, which you ALL agreed to before placing your order:
"We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse or cancel any order for any reason."
You don't have a leg to stand on, any of you. I mean really, one half of the contract is you and if you didn't read the contract and then complain that the other party did something it was perfectly entitled to then you just look like a fool. - ninephoenixes, on 01/12/2008, -4/+78"Never shopping at Wal*Mart again!"
If Bush beats Kerry I'm movin' to Canada. - doomeyes, on 01/12/2008, -8/+77Same here, and I also ordered Haze for PS3 for $29.82, and they cancelled that one, too.
- Ouze, on 01/12/2008, -7/+65If 10% of the people who said that did that, Walmart would be out of business in 2 years.
- landmonster, on 01/12/2008, -30/+76Who gives a *****? Get over it.
- JazzFlight, on 01/12/2008, -11/+51Did any of you really think you were going to get it for 20 bucks?
It was obviously a mistake, and you all attempted to take advantage of it. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
Seriously, from the sheer amount of whining in these comments, it makes it seem like digg is made up of old bitchy grandmas trying to get expired coupons honored.
I wouldn't have made a case if the replies were all "oh, well, I didn't expect much anyway" but boycotting / suing them for fraud / foaming at the mouth? COME ON. - BitterPeace, on 01/12/2008, -5/+45You all need to enhance your calm.
- inactive, on 01/12/2008, -5/+44What's that? You couldn't rip off the system by blatantly rushing to buy an item with a price error?
- mike23w, on 01/12/2008, -6/+44It was obviously a price error. We all knew there was a chance that it would be cancelled.
You cheapskates that are saying your going to boycott walmart are morons. You're so cheap you'll eat your word and go back when walmart has a legitimate sale. - bubbakja, on 01/12/2008, -4/+42The only thing Walmart is guilty of is hiring web programmers that couldn't write a good order cancellation app. I'm sure the reason "we canceled" our orders is because "they" didn't bother to write an email template for when they cancelr orders.
- purzzzell, on 01/12/2008, -2/+37it's a typo - they're not responsible for typos, and they would just log it as "resolved" with the BBB
BBB is less of a big deal than you may think, and wal-mart has plenty of complaints logged against them. - dkoon, on 01/12/2008, -3/+37WTF!? You tried to take advantage of someone when they made a mistake, then you ask if it's fair?
- Mikey7047, on 01/12/2008, -2/+35Same, I wrote an email saying I understand if I ordered at the wrong price, etc. and told them they better damn well be refunding me the taxes and shipping as well. I will see in my bank statement tommorow I assume.
- purzzzell, on 01/12/2008, -3/+32it's a TYPO -
"by blah blah blah, you agree to our terms" - one of the terms is they can cancel an order if the price is misprinted - purzzzell, on 01/12/2008, -0/+26they'll probably tell you that that's how it appears when they cancel it, not claim that you cancelled it
- h3llbring3r, on 01/12/2008, -28/+54Even the ones that were less than 50% off were cancelled. One more reason for me never to shop there again.
- gottaTOOL, on 01/12/2008, -9/+35I completely agree. I understand if it is a misprint, but to claim that we canceled the orders when it was obviously one of them, that's unacceptable.
- inactive, on 01/12/2008, -2/+27Ask them if they have Battletoads
- Charlotte_Web, on 01/12/2008, -2/+26Oh, and here's their Terms of Use from their website:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=538 ...
Order Acceptance
Please note that there may be certain orders that we are unable to accept and must cancel. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse or cancel any order for any reason. For your convenience, you will not be charged until your payment method is authorized, the order information is verified for accuracy and your order is shipped. Some situations that may result in your order being canceled include limitations on quantities available for purchase, inaccuracies or errors in product or pricing information, or problems identified by our credit and fraud avoidance department. We may also require additional verifications or information before accepting any order. We will contact you if all or any portion of your order is canceled or if additional information is required to accept your order. If your order is canceled after your credit card has been charged, we will issue a credit to your credit card in the amount of the charge. - Culex, on 01/12/2008, -2/+26It seems to be hurting their business terribly.
- Matt2k, on 01/12/2008, -0/+24Yes, because you were so *terribly* inconvenienced when your obviously mis-priced month-early preorder was canceled the same day. Walmart should bend over backwards and give you a handjob.
You know, corporations can be stupid and greedy, but sometimes I worry about the consumer too. - mbonzo531, on 01/12/2008, -0/+23When there is a price mistake companies usually send emails stating that you canceled it because it the the generic email. In a few days you might receive an email about their mistake, but it is just the way the website works.
- woer, on 01/12/2008, -15/+37$20 was obviously a price mistake. Why is this case digg-worthy? Buried
- TheAkolyte, on 01/12/2008, -12/+34He's not suggesting he'll end walmart ... He just doesn't like getting ***** by walmart.
And .... trillions? Are they importing labor from mars or something? - purzzzell, on 01/12/2008, -6/+27By shopping at the site, or any site, you are freeing them from liability of misprints, it's in their terms.
Probably regardless of how a cancellation is done, the system sees it as customer requesting - they're not going to honor this, they're not required to, you shouldn't think any less/more of them than you did already.
And raising hell or throwing a tantrum isn't going to accomplish anything - this was a TYPO, not an "advertised price". - smacksaw, on 01/12/2008, -7/+28Exactly. WTF is that sloth? They can't even provide a canned letter to us that describes how THEY canceled it? I didn't initiate the order cancellation - why would they send me a message saying as much?
Laughable. - JMScheib, on 01/12/2008, -2/+23You will.
- banmaster, on 01/12/2008, -11/+31"I for one, will never shop at walmart.com or walmart again."
But where else will you go for your cheap white trash trailer park redneck goods?? - supaLink, on 01/12/2008, -1/+21dont think they need your business anyways :X
- ambiguus, on 01/12/2008, -40/+60If enough people complained and/or contact the BBB, there's a chance they would honor this deal. Who's with me?
- Blandyman, on 01/12/2008, -1/+20K-Mart.
- krabat, on 01/12/2008, -4/+22NERDRAGE
- Charlotte_Web, on 01/12/2008, -2/+20I think you guys are overreacting. Somebody entered the wrong price into the database for a pre-order item -- big deal. I've seen other online retailers do it a lot, and they also cancel the order.
Years ago, Amazon put a pre-release DVD movie up for a penny, and they honored all of the orders; that's the only time I've ever seen that happen.. Since then, they just cancel all of the pre-orders. - sgtpoliteness, on 01/12/2008, -2/+20I got the cancellation 'request' notification as well.
Note that the price they show in this message is for the product only, not shipping or tax. This should be no concern, however, as their orders are most likely not billed until they ship. - smacksaw, on 01/12/2008, -1/+18BBB is not actually something with any legal power, it's just a volunteer thing. And if the company is not a BBB member, they can't do anything.
Do you think Wal-Mart is a member of the BBB? I don't know, but I HIGHLY doubt it.
Besides, they don't have to honour anything unless it was a bait and switch. You can't be baited and switched to nothing+full refund, LOL. - tacojohn48, on 01/12/2008, -5/+22I would say that they have a very full inbox at the moment as I think we all did that.
- DBXMe2, on 01/12/2008, -8/+24why do people cry when they don't pay a certain price... Grow up, stop crying, and get a job.
boohoo my super smash brothers :( - dood, on 01/12/2008, -3/+19This is the guy that shows up to parties to ask everyone how they got there, and then berate them for not taking public transit or walking. He's real popular.
- AsianDDRManiac, on 01/12/2008, -20/+36Not surprising. It's Walmart WALMARTTTTTT
- Spuy767, on 01/12/2008, -1/+17Wal*Mart stores Inc. is not responsible for mistakes on the site and is not required to honor erroneous prices. Look hard, and somewhere you will find that. Chances are, if someone hadn't let this slip, they might have honored a few thousand pre-orders, but when it hit Digg, you should have known that it was only a matter of time.
- purzzzell, on 01/12/2008, -0/+16"Scabbers" was so right in the original topic (the one this morning that got 500 diggs that announced this "deal"):
http://tinyurl.com/ypldgn - Ceadda, on 01/12/2008, -1/+16Isn't anyone who ordered this capable of reading the pricing policy page on walmart.com? First off, they state that they can cancel an order for any reason. Secondly, they specifically state that they do not honor prices that were put up in error. 19.82? New Game? ERROR, DUH!
- icecubes, on 01/12/2008, -1/+15"Please note that there may be certain orders that we are unable to accept and must cancel.
