- Tr3vor, on 05/04/2008, -5/+85I own a wii as many people have said too. I mean... I'm kinda stoked to get this game, the idea is great. the graphics are garbage and I can see the movements getting old and tiring after a little time. And come on, only recognizes 6 axials of movement?!? what is this.. the Ps3. I want full fledged lightsaber action, not just jerking the wiimote to the side or up and down. (I.e. It should move like the baseball bat in wii sports)
- babylonian, on 05/04/2008, -2/+58Five animations? What makes them think this is going to satisfy anyone's expectations of "Wii Lightsaber Game"?
- Spl1nter, on 05/04/2008, -15/+59The Wii version is not use three physic engine as the PS3 and 360 version are. In fact the Wii version is not even being made by LucasArts. Instead this is the developer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krome_Studios The fact that there are only five unique motions for the controlled really turn me off from this version.
- Bender1012, on 05/04/2008, -5/+36I love how awkward the guy is talking to her.
- skywake, on 05/04/2008, -4/+35What's with the Wii hate all of a sudden? It almost feels like Digg is full of people who brought the album that made the band famous purely because it was in the charts only to disown them as soon as the ten minutes of hype went to a simmer. You can be a fan of other systems and still enjoy what Nintendo has to offer. Nobody is telling you that you can't enjoy both Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, Nirvana and Pearl Jam..... Muse and Radiohead. This is a product not a status symbol, you can have your cake and ***** eat some dried crabs if you feel like it.
- MikeSD34, on 05/05/2008, -1/+31The problem is that in a sword fight there's a fair bit of contact, and there's no force feedback available that can mimic that. You would be out of sync at the drop of a hat. It would be nothing like a real sword fight.
- SkullAndXBones, on 05/04/2008, -7/+28She can swing my sabre...
- fermcg, on 05/04/2008, -2/+22I wonder if wii can't handle realistic movement like in baseball plus 'better' graphics. I didn't see a single game which explores that besides baseball (and wario ware smooth moves - which is basically less graphically demanding than wiisports itself).
I think the system can't handle both things... and if that's the case, all I want is a sword game with nintendo 64 graphics which acts just as a baseball bat - TheLoneWolf071, on 05/04/2008, -21/+40The game looks really good. I have a Wii and have kinda been looking at other titles and seeing them on the XBOX 360 or PS3, but this games, along with a few others, make me proud to own a Wii
- PueSi, on 05/04/2008, -3/+21Who cares how you look like?, as long as you're having fun.
It seems to me that you are the shallow one. - Sendai129, on 05/04/2008, -2/+18Only up, down, left, right and stab animations? So does that mean we aren't going to be able to use it like at the end of this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyvIlKSA0BA
- xNIBx, on 05/05/2008, -3/+19Why does this link to kotaku and not straight to g4's site? Did kotaku add anything to the video? Buried for being stupid blog/sitespam.
- Flame15, on 05/05/2008, -0/+14wtf is that doing on the mit website?
- chrisbosh123, on 05/04/2008, -8/+22omg... starwars kid's dream is becoming a reality
- WoWii, on 05/05/2008, -0/+14I want 1:1 movement, in my lightsaber game.
- benitojuarez, on 05/05/2008, -1/+14so youve played force unleashed i take it.
- Frisbinator, on 05/05/2008, -0/+13I prefer G4 because they make me feel like I am cool by getting pretty ladies to interview people in the gaming industry.
- gudnbluts, on 05/04/2008, -0/+12The Harry Potter game does the wand very well, mimicking your motion, and it has reasonable graphics. It's certainly doable.
- tidu, on 05/04/2008, -1/+10Well, to their credit, I would say that Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb are the most qualified to be talking about video games on that channel, given that Adam had a video game show well before the channel was G4.
- h4rdcor3, on 05/04/2008, -2/+11got to love the arrogant naive individuals who do not understand the wii.
- enclaved, on 05/04/2008, -3/+11Your gene pool is shallow.
- yohnstoppable, on 05/04/2008, -1/+9Olivia Munn > Morgan Webb
- hellbent88, on 05/04/2008, -4/+12I think they could have done better
DAMN all you pansy ass causal gamers your ruing an awesome controller scheme - opnickc, on 05/05/2008, -0/+7How the flying ***** can you afford a $250 game console but not a $20 DVD player?
- afx1, on 05/04/2008, -2/+9ok maybe he was
- 1807, on 05/05/2008, -4/+11As good as the Wiimote is, I don't think you could have a very good light saber fight. I know it's Wii Blasphamy, but I was very un impressed with the responsivness of the boxing game in Wii Sports. I truly believe that the Wii's motion control is not good enough yet to make AMAZING light saber experience. I would say, for now, just use those rapping paper tubes.
- NiGHTSChao, on 05/04/2008, -7/+13You sir, are a ***** idiot.
Morgan Web (and almost everyone on G4 for that matter) is a poser - ttfadia, on 05/04/2008, -1/+6How'll the Wii version handle the advanced physics stuff from the next-gen demos? Is it an entirely different version, do they just turn it off?
- latova, on 05/04/2008, -1/+6Geez it seems with every wii related digg article now theres like 10 people who have to tell us about how they've sold their wiis or how much they hate it. Yet when it wasn't out yet people couldn't wait to get their hands on it, and even with it being the most popular console now its like people have to be non-conformists or something.
- Awla, on 05/04/2008, -0/+5They should just steal the combat system from No More Heroes and paste some Star Wars people in.
- crossmr, on 05/05/2008, -1/+6"It's probably going to make me buy a Wii. The question, will it make others do the same?"
I hope so, the Wii has certainly been having trouble moving units. If a killer game didn't come out soon I figured Nintendo was going to close shop due to poor sales.
Stop trying to justify your content theft by tacking on completely pointless questions. Stop linking to blog spam and just give us the original, no one cares about kotoaku's ability to type information that was just presented in video form. - fotbr, on 05/05/2008, -3/+8Why would I want yet another DVD player? PS2, Xbox, 360, and PS3 all play DVDs. As does my DVD player. And of all of them, only the DVD player gets used to play DVDs.
Why is playing DVDs so goddamned important for a game console? - houndawg87, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4Guy is a huge tool.
- triblinator, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4That's exactly what I was thinking.
- inactive, on 05/04/2008, -4/+8Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
- inactive, on 05/05/2008, -1/+5Fairly certain Morgan Webb doesn't have AIDS
- tidu, on 05/04/2008, -4/+8You dont?
http://web.mit.edu/ealba/www/morgan-webb-pics-006. ... - kaintehdragoon, on 05/04/2008, -5/+9>.> You want Morgan Webb?
- opnickc, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4Call of Duty and Need for Speed? THOSE are the only two games you have?
Do yourself a favor and buy some of the wii's good titles. Seriously, they exist, the only reason they aren't mentioned is because everyone here would assume all other wii owners already have the good titles. - tidu, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4WHAT? Attack of the Show is the defining show that destroyed G4. It's ironic because what it once was, The Screen Savers, was the best thing on TechTV. Olivia might be hot but she has nothing on Morgan when it comes to the actual topic of the channel. (well that might be wrong, since it's not even about video games anymore.)
- tidu, on 05/04/2008, -2/+6Your mom rented my Wii. I charged her $20 an hour, I thought I'd give her a discount since she's a frequent customer.
- klipseracer, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3Terrible attempt at flirting at the end.
- SabrinaHeaven, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3You can't preview a Wii game without showing--in detail--the controls. If there's any point-and-drag "use the Wiimote as a mouse" or any "waggle" control, the game is going to be unplayable for some people (namely, Me). If it feels like you're waving the Wiimote around UNDER WATER, or like there's a Slinky extended between the Wiimote and your TV, resulting in a delayed and inaccurate response to the controller movement, the game is going to be unplayable for some people. If the controls just SUCK in general, the game is going to be unplayable.
Wii--I'm not even going to call it "Wii control" anymore, because Nintendo has ***** it up and doesn't deserve the honor--gyroscopic sensor controllers have the potential to revolutionize games, but only if the controls are implemented well and actually work. Stop giving us third-person games with these ***** control schemes! Make a first-person saber duel game where moving the controller actually moves the weapon. Make a lightgun game where the controller actually works like a lightgun--not like the worst mouse ever made.
I still get excited when I think of possibilities for Wii control schemes, but I've come to realize: Those ideas are not for Wii games. Nintendo is never going to get it right and there never will be any good games on the Wii. The ideas I come up with are for FLASH GAMES using third party gyroscopic controllers.
I was in Gamestop the other day, and I stood in front of the Wii wall for about a minute. Looking at the box art on display, it was like standing in a GTA parody game store. It was like Nintendo had never come out with a new console, but instead Gamestop had started carrying a Playskool "My First Game Console" with ***** games from China.
Every Wii game I've played--including Super Mario Galaxy, which was like a nightmare rehash of the terrible Super Mario 3D (a banal "exploration" of 3D space with no gameplay value and with frustrating controls)--has just made me want to put the Wiimote down and--not even pick up a regular controller, but just GO OUTSIDE. It makes me want to throw rocks at a can or play jump rope. Anything but play video games.
I do want a "Wiimote" for PC, though. Preferably NOT in the ***** rectangular form factor. - ChristianMagic, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3No, the wii was intended to print money.
- IntangibleGrasp, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3Its not the system at all, those animations wouldn't be that hard to process compared to the ones that are already being done. More likely is that it is hard to create good looking animations for every possible arm movement, because those animations would probably have to be done by hand for the most part. The problem with the lack of force feedback that MikeSD mentioned could be solved by some sort of 'reset', where after contact and during the recoil animation, you have to move the wiimote back to some neutral position (say to your side). It would be a bit more complicated but probably worth it.
- 1807, on 05/04/2008, -4/+7and saving the best for last...Mario Kart Wii
- Blue_Eon, on 05/04/2008, -1/+4The Wii might not be a "revolution" but at least it's making people realize that the old method of just upping horsepower isn't going to cut it anymore. There are other ways to push gaming and I think the Wii is a step in the right direction, albeit a small step.
- iofthestorm, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3I think you're trying too hard.
- staticneuron, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2I get the impression that these guys are using powerful workstations probably a magnitude more powerful than the wii. Maybe the ability to do 1:1 and have a decent game cannot be achieved at the same time on the wii.
