- caddyalan, on 04/16/2008, -2/+17There are companies which sell converters which allow gamers to use standard NES and SNES pads on a PC (through USB). I've heard that this is true for the Wii as well, but I'm not sure.
- Ashkc88, on 04/16/2008, -1/+22You're right, it is true. They use the Gamecube controller ports.
Here's the link:
http://www.retrousb.com/index.php?categoryID=80 - tropican8, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3The one for the PC (USB) is called the Super SmartJoy. Works perfectly with SNES emulators too.
- sirbeta, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2I remember several years ago rewiring an old snes controller of mine to a parallel port, and writing some code in qbasic to use it... That was pretty fun. It's interesting seeing a snes controller get mapped to a gamecube port though..
- DyDx, on 04/16/2008, -5/+2Good luck finding a real Nintendo NES or SNES pad without resorting to Craiglist or garage sales. Just about all the stuff on eBay is horrible Chinese clones.
- honeymustardn, on 04/16/2008, -0/+5http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-of-2-original-Nintendo-NES ...
There you go. That took me literally 15 seconds. - chanop, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2I'll sell you an entire working NES system, with a bunch of games (Mario, super mario, ninja turtles, Stealth, 007, and the best game of all time little mermaid) .

- gameradam, on 04/16/2008, -5/+32Man I loved the SNES controller. The PAL version looked way better than the NTSC version.
- Solertia, on 04/16/2008, -3/+16
- BearinG, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2You're right but rainbows appeal to.. nevermind..
- Gir53457, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1Me too. It's like I'm playing with a Keebler Elf cookie.
- BearinG, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2You're right but rainbows appeal to.. nevermind..
- lemination, on 04/16/2008, -1/+10could someone show me the difference?
- theojanke, on 04/16/2008, -0/+9http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Nintendo_Entert ...
Pics on the right. - Karmavs, on 04/16/2008, -0/+13The US controller has purple buttons, rather than the rainbow. (see here: http://xbox-emulation.dcemu.co.uk/snes.jpg )
- danomagnum, on 04/16/2008, -0/+5Yep, and two of 'em are scalloped and two aren't.
- theojanke, on 04/16/2008, -0/+9http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Nintendo_Entert ...
- DrWho520, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1That is definitely a matter of taste. What is not is the concave vs. convex buttons. The PAL had all concave buttons, which could lead to confusion in the heat of battle as to which button was being pressed. With the X & Y buttons being concave and the A & B buttons being convex, you could tell which row of buttons you were on just by touch. I thought it was much more intuitive, which probably spoiled me because to this day I find PSX controllers obtuse to use. I can never keep track of the buttons!
- Solertia, on 04/16/2008, -3/+16
- carpespasm, on 04/16/2008, -5/+10other than the novelty, is there any use for this over a classic controller?
- aldenhg, on 04/16/2008, -2/+71Playing virtual console games with the intended controller.
- antiorblkflag9, on 04/16/2008, -0/+19SNES Controller > Classic Controller
- BearinG, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1is it really.. ? I might still have my controllers..
- antiorblkflag9, on 04/16/2008, -0/+19SNES Controller > Classic Controller
- doshindude, on 04/16/2008, -1/+3Brawl/Mario Kart Wii allow use of it.
- jgclark123, on 04/16/2008, -1/+3Not for use in Brawl if you want to move left and right. There's no analog stick, and Brawl won't let you remap movement.
I have basically the GameCube equivalent of this, and I'm pissed that it's useless for most games.- littlelives, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1I believe its intended for playing arcade games (or arcade-like) and games through the Gameboy Player. As a semi-collector I'd love to get one; the Hori Gameboy Pads for the Gamecube are going over $80 on Amazon and $50+ on eBay.
- jgclark123, on 04/16/2008, -1/+3Not for use in Brawl if you want to move left and right. There's no analog stick, and Brawl won't let you remap movement.

- ThReAtEnEd, on 04/16/2008, -41/+10i hate posts like this. it's either give them what they ask for and bury them over 100 times, or digg them up 100 times which still makes it a good thing -.-
so i think ill just do nothing on this one.- mcool119, on 04/16/2008, -7/+43I'm going to bury you to be ironic.

- carpespasm, on 04/16/2008, -4/+60It's always best to try and keep these kinds of comments right at a -1 IMHO.

- killbert24, on 04/16/2008, -17/+0This is so cool! I'd like to play some Mario Galaxy with this thing.
- boxybrzown, on 04/16/2008, -0/+13Good luck getting past the "please connect the Nunchuk" screen.
- Maxamegalon2000, on 04/16/2008, -1/+28Crap, there's stuff past the "please connect the Nunchuk" screen? I've been missing out!
- boxybrzown, on 04/16/2008, -0/+13Good luck getting past the "please connect the Nunchuk" screen.
- thefallofbrad, on 04/16/2008, -4/+8too bad you have to plug the remote into the controller in order to use it.
- antiorblkflag9, on 04/16/2008, -1/+7That's how the classic works too
- remorsecode, on 04/16/2008, -1/+7But if it didn't, it wouldn't be wireless!
...and wireless rules.- hassanchop13, on 04/16/2008, -3/+3or it could have its own wireless...
- thecrazyd, on 04/16/2008, -1/+7And it's own batteries. And it's own additional cost to manufacture.
- BearinG, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2still ironic to plug it in a WIRELESS device..
- hassanchop13, on 04/16/2008, -3/+3or it could have its own wireless...
- amanilaenvelope, on 04/16/2008, -1/+40just looking at the control brings me back memories to a simpler time.
- undershirt, on 04/16/2008, -0/+8I love those fleeting memories, just had a flashback myself
- Halokhan, on 04/16/2008, -0/+9A time when Mario, Link and Samus were your after school friends.

Ah, simpler times.
- 9bpm9, on 04/16/2008, -14/+7The button color scheme doesn't go with the controller. I'll stick with the gray and purple.
- undershirt, on 04/16/2008, -1/+4Those are the original colors for the Super Famicom controller, not the SNES.
- ehsteve23, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2the SNES in europe also has the coloured buttons
- Elranzer, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2Yeah but the PAL SNES had a lovely cigarette-smoke brown tint, the US and Japanese had a clean gray hue.
- ehsteve23, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2the SNES in europe also has the coloured buttons
- forsakn1, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2I actually had both color schemes for the controllers, I had the SNES Style of gray and purple, then I got the "advantage" controllers, which were the Famicom colors
- undershirt, on 04/16/2008, -1/+4Those are the original colors for the Super Famicom controller, not the SNES.
- SirMolle, on 04/16/2008, -23/+2Oh look... Mommy let you use the Puter and you made a New Throwaway Acct to Swear with!
I hope they ban your whole IP Range.- ZombieKiss, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2What?
- j1ggy, on 04/16/2008, -13/+14You know, I always have hated the cord coming out of the front of the classic controller. I'd love a Japanese crassic controrrer.
- Fozfan33, on 04/16/2008, -2/+7they need to just produce these for everyone... the classic controller feels so odd when i use it.
- Cerebral, on 04/16/2008, -0/+10That's one thing I cannot stand about companies. They produce something amazing like this that would sell like ***** hotcakes and they only put it out to elite members who probably will not even use the damn thing and sell it years later on eBay. Until Nintendo mass produces these for the public or someone gets a hold of one and figures out how to sell these made from the old controllers... ***** YOU!
It's ***** like this that makes people mod ***** and pirate *****. We want it the way WE want it not the way YOU want it.
While I'm at it has anyone seen a "classic controller" mod of some sorts that you can fix the broken ass stop sign design on the analog sticks? The damn thing just runs straight for the diagnal corners and that just doesn't work when you are trying to shoot ***** up in Geometry Wars: Galaxies.

- AshamedAmerican, on 04/16/2008, -2/+19It's...beautiful.
- conaaah, on 04/16/2008, -5/+1i have an interact controller for snes exactly like that
- samfishercell, on 04/16/2008, -1/+15Didn't Nintendo say they aren't doing the awesome Nintendo Club prizes here due mainly to shipping?
Lame. I pay $50 for one of your discs, and instead of spending a tiny amount on shipping once I collect enough points from MANY $50 discs, you give me a couple computer desktops or AIM icons. Thanks Nintendo.- Cerebral, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3Hey technically those AIM icons have a shipping cost as well. It's just WAY less and they don't have to fool with customs :)
- theblackgecko, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1It's because Nintendo lives in a la la land where Japanacorps rule and Americans have no ability to find out what mysterious products are available in the land of the rising sun.
- PocketWatch, on 04/16/2008, -1/+28I'm not going to lie - the captions on the slideshow were god awful.
- Archaic1, on 04/16/2008, -2/+3"Great, now I can't breathe, AND I'm dizzy."
**facepalm**
- Archaic1, on 04/16/2008, -2/+3"Great, now I can't breathe, AND I'm dizzy."
- apothekari, on 04/16/2008, -3/+5Yeah that's cool an all but How a bout a wireless SEGA 6 button the best controller ever.
Or a neat TG-16 or NES MAX controller the original "360" controller. http://www.axess.com/twilight/console/detail/nes_m ...- LeRenard, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3Ugg. the Max sucked. I preferred the Advantage.

- ibeetle, on 04/16/2008, -1/+14Available exclusively to Club Nintendo members?
Yea right. In a week they will be on Play Asia for $60 bucks and on eBay for $100. With knock-offs selling for $20.- hotbeefman, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Play Asia preorders opening soon: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-10u-49-en-70-2 ...
- convoluted, on 04/16/2008, -2/+3Are there shoulder buttons? None of the pictures show them?
- vanden9, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3Yes...
- Nitrodist88, on 04/16/2008, -7/+6How about some games for the Wii.
- IntangibleGrasp, on 04/16/2008, -4/+0timesplitters 4 can't come out soon enough
- DrWho520, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2Okami...
- sickens, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Wow, crazy flashbacks to memories of my childhood right there... Love it.
- troopa, on 04/16/2008, -3/+2Oh my God. It's so beautiful.
- PinkFloyd2003, on 04/16/2008, -2/+2I guess its cool to bring back the snes controller but the classic controller already has the same button and pad location plus extra features. Unless they're planning on making an N64 controller, Genesis controller, etc. it really just feels like novelty over actual benefit.
- ELCad, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4Hey, a N64 controller would be pretty cool. Good idea.
- DrWho520, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Big enough for my man-hands, first analog stick on a controller pad, shoulder buttons, trigger and different shaped buttons (AB and 4 extras) for intuitive use. Have not used anything like it since.
- Chode2235, on 04/16/2008, -1/+1The classic controller is much bigger than the original SNES pad. Mostly due to the analog sticks etc.
The SNES pad was the perfect size, the classic almost feels xboxishly bad in relative comparison.
I would love to get my hands on one of these for my second classic controller.
- ELCad, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4Hey, a N64 controller would be pretty cool. Good idea.
- thebriz, on 04/16/2008, -0/+6here's the link to the adapters: http://www.retrousb.com/index.php?categoryID=80
They have ones for nes and snes- ELCad, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1$20 plus shipping! That's a little steep. I'd pay it if it could do both, or the N64.
Cool link though.
- ELCad, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1$20 plus shipping! That's a little steep. I'd pay it if it could do both, or the N64.
- ryanhayn, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3That little controller brings back the most happy gaming memories of my sad little life.
- DCJoeDogaswell, on 04/16/2008, -0/+19I just noticed something, and it isn't fair at all. Japan doesn't have to deal with the spawn of hell known as clamshell packaging, I think we should revolt.
- solid12345, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1But don't you know, you earn your product not by paying money for it but scratching up your hands and bleeding all over it to get it open.
- crashingechelon, on 04/16/2008, -0/+6I wonder if nintendo made a retro controller like this for each previous console if they would sell. I know I'd but a snes controller for Wii even though I have a classic.
- rocketboot, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1I wonder if it's possible to make an adapter or a set of adapters so you could just plug your old controllers into the wiimote. I'd buy some of those, but not more of what I already have.
- TheFilmBuff, on 04/16/2008, -0/+6i wish they'd make a n64 controller that plugs into the wii remote like the classic controller... cuz playing n64 games on virtual console using the classic controllers or gamecube controllers is not the same... i also wish they'd release super smash 64 on virtual console...
- repick3, on 04/16/2008, -7/+1Hmm... The SNES controller is great in all, pretty much the best controller ever; but do they really need this? As far as modern gaming controllers I'd rank them Classic controller (if it had rumble) > PS3/PS2 > Xbox 360. Those are reaaaally close though, since the Xbox 360 one feels like a Dreamcast controller :P
- matt3454, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1you must be holding it the wrong way up
- coondog35, on 04/16/2008, -3/+2take it off you dirty girl!
- lunarworks, on 04/16/2008, -3/+2I want one. Bad.
(Always preferred SuperFami controller over SNES controller...)- ELCad, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2Is it just the colors that are different?
- chokeaduck, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3I always thought so... Unless it had a microphone that no-one knew about.
- Deneteus, on 04/16/2008, -4/+2OK thats freaking ridiculous. I had heard that this was going to happen but this seems like a GIGANTIC slap in the face to those of us who waited to buy the Wii and Nintendo of America goes ahead and releases that ***** ass Wii classic controller. All so they can ass rape us with a separate SNES controller that can take the place of the SNES and the NES controller alone. I just want to take my classic controller apart and use the analog sticks from a PSP-2000 to get it all to fit!!! At least it would be funtional and not some overgrown bulbous monstrosity with a penis attachment!!
- ButchersBoy, on 04/16/2008, -1/+2OMG I gotta get me one of those. And SNES Mario Kart on VC. The circle of life will be complete.
- TonyKay, on 04/16/2008, -1/+3The most annoying captions I have ever read.
- chaos7, on 04/16/2008, -1/+2SNES controller is my fav controller ever
- peterredding, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2Isn't this Sony's trick? Release a controller then a few months later release a better one?
- ramshaw, on 04/16/2008, -4/+11Now another generation of kinds can have they hands raped by bad ergonomics. Sweet.
- Vironex, on 04/16/2008, -1/+3"can have they hands raped"
I hope they hands don't get too sore, parents are more likely to sue now.
- Vironex, on 04/16/2008, -1/+3"can have they hands raped"
- BrandonR717, on 04/16/2008, -1/+11And again, Nintendo will ignore it's fans and it's customers will never see this outside of Japan.
***** you, Nintendo. - Antillies911, on 04/16/2008, -2/+0That brings back some memories.. SNES by far my favorite console of all time.
- tito184, on 04/16/2008, -2/+6*yawn*
Wake me up when they get the Power Glove.- solid12345, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Or the light gun.
- Aturaten, on 04/16/2008, -0/+0As much as I love Nintendo's games I am getting mighty sick of them just catering to Japan all the time.
- TheObviousChild, on 04/16/2008, -1/+0What's the point? The Wii Classic Controller is fine. I've used it with NES and SNES games. Hell, I even played Mario 64 with it and it was fine.
- jarbarf, on 04/16/2008, -1/+0MOST HILARIOUS CAPTIONS EVER
- centyr, on 04/16/2008, -1/+1This is just stupid an unboxing of a stupid controller, oh my god look its the controller not in the box any more. Next up, unboxing my toothpaste.
- solid12345, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1The box art is so much better as well, Japanese companies put much more pride in graphic design and packaging than most American companies.
Of course one could also argue they are a pretentious people who go over the top in wrapping up a silly Nintendo controller and make it look like it belongs in Saks Fifth Avenue. - exomni, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Would be much better if it just had a Gamecube plug on the end. Why would I want to have my Wiimote dangling off the end of it, using up batteries for something that isn't really wireless?
Hell, they could even make the thing wireless with a gamecube connector, à la Wavebird. - Cykill78, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1Man why is Japan always getting all the good stuff?
