- kiwikultist, on 10/10/2007, -9/+101What a brilliant idea. And we could give it a cool name... something like 'computer'...
- atomicpoet, on 10/10/2007, -13/+65Duh. There's no way the Wii will ever handle it.
On another note, I feel rumours like this get started because everybody wants their consoles to be the be all and end all of gaming. Well, to that, I say if you're looking for an Xbox 360 experience, shell out the extra hundred or so bucks and get yourself an Xbox 360. It's got a plethora or FPS and racing games, and I imagine it will be that way for quite some time. Word on the street is that a little old game known as "Bioshock" can be found there.
The Wii, on the other hand, is for retro gamers, casual gamers, and folks who like Nintendo intellectual properties. That means party games, arcade games, and Zelda games. You'll have the odd racing and FPS game, but that will be the exception rather than the rule.
And for those who jibber jabber about Nintendo ignoring the "hardcore" gamer, just keep in mind you've got Sony and Microsoft who are hopelessly devoted to you. If you want Bioshock, the Xbox 360 is that way. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+41wow man, i love how you managed to not diss the wii and went straight for the ps3
- KevenM, on 10/10/2007, -5/+35Quick survey - would you pay $995 for a theoretical all in one console that can handle PS3, Wii, AND XBox360 games?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23i'm gonna go home and pop metroid prime 3 in my computer
- Blackbow, on 10/10/2007, -8/+28The Wii couldn't handle Big Daddy's left toe, let alone a full port.
- djSyndrome, on 10/10/2007, -7/+24Jesus, shut the ***** up already. You hate the PS3. WE GET IT.
- PURDooM, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Sounds like a job for duct tape.
- chocobomog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Thats why you have kids and live vicariously through them.
I can't wait until my daughters are old enough to play multiplayer games with me. One of them (14mo) recently picked up a loose controller while we were playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance and was convinced she was controlling Thor. Good times. - Agilus, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18You make some pretty good points. I think you may pigeonhole Nintendo and the Wii a little too much, but otherwise I mostly agree. The Wii does have the potential for some good shooter games, based on the Metroid 3 control scheme (or a slightly tweaked version of it). The same graphical power might not be there, but the Wii can still produce good looking games, just not quite -as- good as the other two systems.
- crawf061, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15It sucks to grow up
- Jsmuli2, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Will it stop calling me after i break up with it?
- spoiled1, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13No, I'll have em all separate ... so if one dies (hmmm which one would it be), I can still continue to play my games while the dead console is being repaired.
- gwolf, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10I agree Metroid looks really good, but if that game were on one of the other platforms you know it would look even better. Looks aren't everything but they aren't unimportant either.
- Whackly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9way to solidify your hardcore gamer street cred with uno and shrek3
- ZenMojo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10PS3 basic = 500
360 core = 300
Wii = 150
950 dollars. If the 360 didn't have proprietary ***** hard drives, then you could just use the PS3 hard drive instead of going without one.
The PSWii60? - gwolf, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Your just starting out in life, one day you will get your life back and have both disposable income and the time to enjoy it.
Once a gamer always a gamer. - ferrariman60, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I don't think the wii could handle any version of the Unreal Engine 3. I like the wii, but it doesn't have nearly enough horsepower (or memory) to run that engine. Period. The 360 has some texture lag, and that's packing 512 mb of RAM. The wii has only 88 megs. Sorry, but that won't run UE3, especially not bioshock, at least not without lots of major modification on 2k's part.
- atomicpoet, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14No.
- Rodman930, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9I don't talk to video games.
- fognozzle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I like Nintendo, but you make some pretty good points. One thing I'd add is that it wouldn't be impossible to port Bioshock Wii... you could port it to N64 if you dumbed down the graphics enough.
- hipnerd, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9I own and love my Wii. I hope we get a version of Bioshock, that would be great. But the pointless slam on the PS3 (not my console of choice) is ridiculous. You think they should port it to the Wii and the PS3 and your worry is that the _PS3_ can't handle the graphics?
When you got picked up for school as a child, did you get to ride in a long bus? Or a short bus? I'm betting the latter. - MewTwo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8I'm with coheed on this one. You can't be real. It's identity theft... someone alert the real truspector.
- truspector, on 10/10/2007, -11/+16Only if it gives blow jobs.
- lordmetroid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Not entirerly, otherwise everyone would commit suicide in their twenties!
- moskaudancer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4"PSWii60"
F***ING WINTIME - masterthiefster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4While the Wii and PS2 could definitely handle System Shock 2 or a special "last-gen exclusive" game set in the BioShock universe, any attempts to directly port the first BioShock would end in tears.
- Coffeedemon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Whackly: what reviews are you reading?
Metacritic:
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/ ... - 96% with 71 reviews.
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/metr ... - 91% with "only" 37.
Gamerankings:

http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/928517.asp - 91% with 34 reviews.
Bioshock has many more (2X) reviews and is still maintaining a higher rating than Metroid. - yournamehere, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4your poor wife
- grumbel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4You can't just port Bioshock to the Wii, but nothing stops you from doing a different game and calling it Bioshock. Franchise recycling is nothing new, just look at the mobile phones.
- ZenMojo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5The largest group of HARDCORE gamers is in their 50's now (no *****). Man up.
- adammharvey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I call ***** Card
- dracflamloc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Obviously you don't realize the xbox 360 plays HD games w/out a HD-DVD drive
- louiedog, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6And it was fun as hell. Before Bioshock the last game I played through more than once was HL2, and those sessions were a year apart. I played Bioshock twice in two weeks because it's so much fun and there are things you just can't do with one play. You can argue it was overrated, but name one game that has lived up to that much hype.
- Dochtuir, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Can we call it the Phantom 2?
Can I pre-register to pre-order yet? - coheedcollapse, on 10/10/2007, -9/+13A few games recently that span across both the 360 and the PS3 have come out better looking and running on the PS3. It's all about if the developers are interested in putting the work in to learning a new system adequately or not.
Also this response is a turning point. I'm totally convinced you're a PS3 owner that hates 360 fanboys so much that you've created the most horrible frankenstein of fanboy ***** ever. You can't be serious. You just can't. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3What about if a third of it was consistently breaking but you could still play the other two? Oh I guess your scenario covers that. :)
- enchanterku, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5If I could digg you up more, I would... well played.
- johnnysaucepn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3We could call it the 'polymorphic console', or PC for short...
- skyfire1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4The Wii doesn't have Pixel Shaders. It might be possible if they just had vertex coloring and basic lighting.
- ericrous, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3"Bioshock: Rapture Games" filled with minigames like "Catch the Little Sister" and "Dodge the Spider Slicer Hooks"
- monospaced, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3After the NES came the SNES. Where's the Super Wii? They've proved beyond a doubt that their interface is simply kick-ass, even on an underpowered, little machine with a light price tag. How hard would it be to make it "Super" by putting in a more powerful CPU and GPU with digital a/v outputs (HD/5.1)? People would line up for that, and it would be able to run Bioshock by 2009.
- iChainsaw, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6sorry bro, but bioshock or any game like it will come out for the wii when pigs fly
- onlynameicanget, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Look Mr. Bubbles, it's a slideshow!
- Zarokima, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Note the text before that and it all seems less idiotic.
- terminalpariah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I'd buy a BioShock offshoot for DS. That would be awesome!
- maxsunset, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6Not
going
to
happen.
Get a 360. - fognozzle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Bungie just released Halo2 for PC...
- moofree, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The 360 can even play HD Movies (vc-1 rips) without an HD-DVD drive.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -10/+12You know, some of us have jobs, and lives, and simply don't have the time for "hardcore" gaming anymore. It's nice to know that the Wii is there to give us a little amusement when we do have a little extra free time. I find more and more, as I get older, I've gotten to where if I can't get an enjoyable experience out of five minutes of play, I don't bother.
