- purseonality, on 07/08/2009, -0/+31anonymousmedic doesn't sound like much fun to play with.
- FortyCaliber, on 07/08/2009, -4/+32I thought it was "Zelda" at first when I saw the cart.
- holyskeleton, on 07/07/2009, -3/+21$17,500 would get you covered for WoW for the rest of your life
- LordofChaosIori, on 07/07/2009, -4/+21With $17,500 you could buy the world!! ...of Warcraft.
- ChaosProfessor, on 07/08/2009, -0/+17I am the only 24 year old in the world that goes garage sale shopping because I dream of some 70 year old women having this at the sale for like 5 bucks or something and i would still bargain with her
- jman583, on 07/08/2009, -2/+15Don't any of you know anything? The cart has a built-in flux capacitor.
- ADifferentUsern, on 07/08/2009, -0/+13I'm surprised it didn't mention it in the article that the reason this game was so difficult to get wasn't just because there were only 26 made for tournaments... You had to WIN the tournament and the cartridge was the prize.
- dowelly, on 07/08/2009, -0/+12How can you complete Tetris?
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+11So you'd give her the old plow as a fair trade?
- NathanielJ, on 07/08/2009, -1/+12Yeah, except the only reason gamers know about it is because it's famous FOR BEING obscure and valuable. It's still obscure.
- Jerryrad, on 07/08/2009, -2/+13Which would be true, IF it were Zelda. Read.
- Koushiro, on 07/08/2009, -2/+12I agree, the Nintendo World Champion Cart is pretty legendary for the NES when it comes to collecting.
- Haoie, on 07/07/2009, -1/+11Impressive.
Extremely limited releases and prototypes will certainly be worth a pretty penny. - LeviTheSmith, on 07/08/2009, -0/+9No it's because there were only 26 made in the world
- groo68, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7Doesn't sound like he knows his math either. They take in 164,450,000 a month, not 17 million.
- lynkdead, on 07/08/2009, -0/+6I wouldn't really call it expensive, just rare with people willing to pay a lot for it. Most valuable would have been a better title. When I think most expensive, I think either took the most money to make OR costs the most new (in which case Steel Battalion with the controller would probably win).
- l034me, on 07/08/2009, -0/+6Players begin the challenge by completing the first world of Super Mario Bros., then must finish a quick lap in Rad Racer before taking off to Tetris where the remaining time runs out. The game then multiplies your Rad Racer and Tetris scores, adds all three results, and lets you know how well you did.
- Zaxcomp, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5I might care if the guy uploads a ROM of it to all the major hosts, subsequently devaluing the reaming carts. Superfluous things like this make me sick.
- Larssonk22, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4probably one of the most expensive games to be developed but not one of the most expensive games to purchase.
Loved the game minus the final disk which saw no action and virtually no gameplay. - ADifferentUsern, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4I'm no stranger to sarcasm. Anonymousmedic is though.
- Elranzer, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3Another day, another Digg sotry about the Nintendo World Championship cartridge being expensive.
- Larssonk22, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3when you have £10,700 spare what else would you spend it on, maybe hire some prostitutes to play the game with you because real girls won't?!
- ftwb, on 07/08/2009, -1/+4He already bought everything else you're thinking of.
- pjvdg, on 07/08/2009, -1/+4With that money you might be able to buy a Delorean instead (with optional flux capacitor ofcourse)
- jaimequin, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3I wonder if he just realized that game sucks.
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3For $17k, that cartridge better blow ME.
- caseycoold, on 07/08/2009, -1/+4Um, yes it is.

I guess that'd make you a n00b. - MikeRiley, on 07/08/2009, -6/+8A lot of people collect NES games. There's a handful that are worth +$1000. If I had that much money to throw around on a hobby, I'd consider it as well.
Oh, and he won't have to blow on it. I doubt that one's ever going to be played again after the initial test to see it if actually works still - which he probably had guaranteed/tested before he paid the money out. - olego, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2Greed Island, from "Hunter x Hunter"! Hmm, or maybe I watch too much anime. :-)
- graahBrains, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Project Entropia or whatever they're calling it these days. You want money in the game? Put real money into it.
- totallyRo, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2every time i see nes games at a thrift/pawn, or game shop i look for this.
whenever i see a gold cartrige im like OH ***** college is paid for, then i see its only zelda
:( - j035u5, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2Definitions of obscure on the Web:
-not clearly understood or expressed; "an obscure turn of phrase"; "an impulse to go off and fight certain obscure battles of his own spirit
-not famous or acclaimed; "an obscure family"; "unsung heroes of the war"
-not drawing attention; "an unnoticeable cigarette burn on the carpet"; "an obscure flaw"
I don't thing something can be famous and obscure - MikeRiley, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Given a time limit I imagine it would just be a matter of surviving until the Tetris segment ends.
- caseycoold, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2I was wondering the same thing!
FTA:
"It comprises just three brief segments of existing NES titles – Tetris, Rad Racer and Super Mario Bros. – all of which must be completed within a strict 6 minutes 21 seconds time limit." - energyx, on 07/08/2009, -1/+3i hope all these old PC games i've got become valuable. i just noticed that my old 4disc planescape: torment game is going for near $60
- Decivox, on 07/08/2009, -1/+3I have seen this story three times on the front page now. Its sure getting old.
- UltimatrixmaN, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1...and here I was thinking the "Steel Battalion" experience was quite pricey.
- Elranzer, on 07/08/2009, -1/+2Planescape Torrent is going for free...
- Kevin108, on 07/08/2009, -2/+3There's only maybe 3 people in the whole world who would spend that much on something like this. And 2 of them probably couldn't afford it.
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -2/+3Panzer Dragoon Saga
- deweyhewson, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1Your complete lack of understanding of economics is only overshadowed by your completely misplaced bitterness and resentment.
Take a breath. - BrokenCircle, on 07/08/2009, -1/+2I wonder how much my beta Sonic eXtreme is worth?
- gordmoo, on 07/08/2009, -1/+2yeah, i have heard of games going for more than this. most high profile collector trades are done behind closed doors. It may sound like a lot but these people have a lot of people and boy when they sell that game on again, they are gonna make a packet.
- s0nicfreak, on 07/08/2009, -1/+2If you actually have a beta of Sonic Xtreme, then quite a lot. But I don't think it exists (there is only a test engine, which you probably only have a copy of) and you spelled Xtreme wrong .
- Halsfield, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1Yea, because no one lost everything during the stock market crash right before the great depression, or now during this recession. An overall stock market gain =/= everyone gains.
- xero9, on 07/14/2009, -0/+16,999,998 subscribers, as I've canceled the two accounts I had
- chudroy, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1i wonder if he thought the cartridge was made of gold and paid 17.5k. then when he got it home he realized the makers just painted it yellow
- Elranzer, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1The ROM is available in most NES rom locations. But here's a Rapidshare link for it directly:
http://rapidshare.com/files/253771759/Nintendo_Wor ... - JoJoDilio, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1Actually anonymousmedic, right now they've only got about 7 million subscribers because nobody in China can/is playing right now.
- inactive, on 07/12/2009, -0/+1No dude, you could buy the whole internet that the world of warcraft is played on!
