- maxvette, on 06/15/2009, -1/+114Let me just say:
1. Cool
2. Stay the ***** away from my vintage consoles or i'll cut you - TechEvil, on 06/15/2009, -0/+103I've seen so many nintendo case mods....but if that CD drive functions, this is the best one.
- iwillrefuse, on 06/15/2009, -2/+64It's the Japanese (and PAL) version of the console, otherwise known as the "Super Famicom"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Nintendo_Entert ...
Personally, I always liked this design way more than the U.S. re-design. - asobitech, on 06/15/2009, -0/+42Yes the DVDRW drive does work,
we even wired up the eject button to eject the discs.
Gonna have a video up soon, showing all the functions. - CityandColourrr, on 06/15/2009, -4/+44Not bad. That's got to be some terrible air flow though.
- GWAN, on 06/15/2009, -0/+32Wow, the lego on the back is a nice touch...
- SangekiRein, on 06/15/2009, -2/+32The cartridge is the CD drive? Does anyone else see the irony in all this?!
- Nicoon, on 06/15/2009, -0/+23Needs a SNES mouse.
- dafragsta, on 06/15/2009, -1/+24Anyone else remember reading Nintendo Power, just to see ONE screenshot of SMW and one picture of Howard Phillips standing next to a Super Famicom, just to spend the next two years or so wondering why the Japanese got all the cool video games first?
- ahhell, on 06/15/2009, -1/+24Like rain on your wedding day?
- exscind, on 06/15/2009, -1/+21No, it's not the SNES revision, although there was one. I'm pretty sure this is the standard PAL (Euro) version.
- YoWhatDaFuxUp, on 06/15/2009, -3/+21purple bars are wayyy cooler
- InferiorWang, on 06/15/2009, -1/+16No, would you explain it please?
- Arkz, on 06/15/2009, -0/+14Sony and Nintendo were supposed to work together, the Playstation was to be an add on CD drive for the SNES, but it fell through so sony decided to create their own console and call it playstation.. nintendo on the other hand after pulling the plug on sony had to come up with project reality, which was to be the Ultra 64, later renamed Nintendo 64.
- Nicoon, on 06/15/2009, -0/+14It's a completely standard (Japanese and European) version. The American version is the revamped one.
- 1807, on 06/15/2009, -8/+22WTF kind of Super Nintendo is that? Is that some re-vamped version?
- Hellahulla, on 06/15/2009, -0/+13Link to the actual home of the mod:

Why can't submitters post the real thing rather than some half-arsed blog? - asobitech, on 06/15/2009, -2/+15thank you,
we've actually fitted a fan inside the case to help with air flow,
run the system for 24 hrs and it didn't overheat once. - nigelsan, on 06/15/2009, -1/+13like a traffic jam when your already late?
- Zippo, on 06/15/2009, -1/+13a no smoking sign on your cigarette break
- charlietuna, on 06/15/2009, -0/+11It's a free ride when you've already paid?
- Zippo, on 06/15/2009, -0/+11and the rest, my friends, is history.
After Nintendo dumped Sony, they tried to work out something with Philips... eventually, that fell through too, and Philips settled for a licensing agreement that allowed them to use Nintendo characters in a few games.
The result was the a handful of amazingly -terrible- Zelda and Mario games for the CD-i. - razorc03, on 06/15/2009, -6/+17Sorry,
I just can't reason with myself to justify gutting an actual SNES system for any purpose. - praisethelard, on 06/16/2009, -0/+9No, I think he's a big fan of the SNES and therefore could not stand to take one apart.
- Peleus, on 06/15/2009, -0/+8Dugg for creative optical drive.
- avianeddy, on 06/15/2009, -0/+8Awesome :)
NOW your playing with power.... - cloudberries, on 06/15/2009, -0/+7I had one just like it. 'Tis the swanky UK version
- asobitech, on 06/15/2009, -1/+8many thanks.
- modifiedbears, on 06/15/2009, -0/+6Go to the source:
http://www.asobitech.com/remix/aaSNES1/ - Elranzer, on 06/15/2009, -0/+6The modders at Mini-ITX have been stuffing ITX motherboards into consoles for years. They've done Saturn, Dreamcast, etc even an E.T. plush doll...
http://www.mini-itx.com/
They've even already done the SNES (PAL version)...
http://www.mini-itx.com/projects/animalsnes/ - AdmiralAcbar, on 06/15/2009, -2/+8Learn to use comparison strings. That's a "greater than" symbol.
- watcht, on 06/15/2009, -0/+5Wow that's pretty well made, the lit up snes logo is a nice touch.
- asobitech, on 06/15/2009, -1/+6Went with the UK PAL SNES, as I grew up in the UK,
and it's version I had when I was a kid.
Also I think it looks better than the brick that is the USA version. - asobitech, on 06/15/2009, -0/+5if you read through the write up on the webpage,
you'll see we used lego for all the mountings,
as it's non-conductive and easy to build into different shapes. - tidu, on 06/16/2009, -0/+4get the ***** out of here
- asobitech, on 06/15/2009, -1/+51. thank you
2. I'll bear that in mind. Luckily there are hundrededs available on eBay for my to mod. - exscind, on 06/15/2009, -0/+4This one's not Japanese; those models have the "Famicom" branding.
- Timetogetill7, on 06/15/2009, -1/+5Where is Sega now today?
- Philbert, on 06/15/2009, -0/+4Maybe it runs off of a CD, that's how it worked with Dreamcast SNES9X.
- inactive, on 06/15/2009, -0/+4The NES PC was much cooler.
Until Tim Wasson, the guy who designed it, went hyperdouche and sold off the website to German spammers. - cosmicr, on 06/16/2009, -1/+4its not just the UK. its anywhere PAL. that includes Australia, Western Europe, most of Asia, the Middle East and Africa. I'm pretty sure the 'Famicom' was NTSC.
- buddamus, on 06/16/2009, -0/+3Nothing but pure old school win
- asobitech, on 06/15/2009, -0/+3the logo lighting is attached to the hard drive access light,
so it will flicker as you use the hard drive. - rmathieson, on 06/15/2009, -2/+5The optical drive is a very nice tough - well done :)
- asobitech, on 06/15/2009, -1/+4I've now ordered one off ebay,
hopefully i can mode it so it will work as a USB mouse. - asobitech, on 06/15/2009, -0/+3oh yes, it has ZSNES on it as well as MAME and other emulators..
- asobitech, on 06/15/2009, -0/+3I'm glad someone appreciated the irony in it.
the fact that games are now CD based instead of cartridge based.
Discs killed the Cartridge. - shuffle, on 06/15/2009, -1/+4Is that a handgun poking out in the upper right hand corner of the picture?
- tidu, on 06/16/2009, -0/+3plus it was a pretty crap mouse. Although it will suffice to fit the theme. Remember that plastic mouse pad that shipped with the game? It was loud and didn't really help at all, especially with flyswatter
- Hybred1234, on 06/16/2009, -1/+4People on Digg scare me sometimes. So quick to flame they don't even bother letting themselves comprehend what they just read.
