- Agamemnon582bc, on 07/17/2009, -3/+594The article I wrote that features the picture I made, if anyone is interested:
http://limitbreak.gameriot.com/blogs/Caveat-Emptor ... - Sakumi, on 07/18/2009, -0/+260Dugg up for being the original author.
- rpieszak, on 07/18/2009, -0/+209Dugg for proper handling of thievery.
- SpectreFire, on 07/18/2009, -4/+171***** MrBabyMan, stop ripping other people's hard work.
I wish someone would just punch you in the vagina already. - slicksoul999, on 07/17/2009, -11/+157Someone has some extra time on their hands
- Twinfire0, on 07/18/2009, -0/+96Submit that and I'd be happy to digg it instead of this.
- IvenomI, on 07/18/2009, -5/+97SMRPG FTW
- rodrigo74, on 07/18/2009, -1/+83Differently from you, who is obviously very very busy
- Tomoir, on 07/18/2009, -1/+60Dugg for Mario Teaches Typing being in there.
- socivitus, on 07/18/2009, -0/+52***** amazing dedication. You have been dugg-ed!
- lazyslacker, on 07/18/2009, -0/+43I don't know why anyone would digg you down. SMRPG was great. I'm still holding out for Geno to make an appearance in some game, sometime, somehow.
- Zihuatanejo, on 07/18/2009, -1/+41Where does John Leguizamo fit into all of this?
- PeaTearGryphon, on 07/18/2009, -0/+39not when you steal the image from someone's site (which had a lot of work put into it) that's already been submitted and put it on some image dump and resubmit it to digg as your own find
- JFitzpatrick, on 07/18/2009, -1/+40I fail to see why MrBabyMan didn't submit the source article and give you due credit. One link is as good as another... unless of course the original link had already been submitted and Mr.AttentionWhore just needed some more feel good front page gratification?
Someone will have to explain it to me. - twiztidsinz, on 07/18/2009, -1/+38What a whore.....
- rpieszak, on 07/18/2009, -1/+36Dugg for agreement
- Tw3ek, on 07/18/2009, -1/+36I'm still sad that nothing branches off from Super Mario RPG.
- copypastry, on 07/18/2009, -1/+35I agree.
Perhaps they could make a new character called Raimo.
He will be a latino electrician with a beard.
SOMEBODY GET MIYAMOTO ON THE PHONE - BugMeNot2, on 07/18/2009, -0/+27Holy ***** *****.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Mario_games_b ... - EricOfTheJames, on 07/18/2009, -2/+28Mario's such a sellout.
- preppypoof, on 07/17/2009, -3/+27wow, mario has been in a LOT of games...and they didn't even count games where he had cameo appearances like Punch-Out!!!
meanwhile, poor Luigi has only starred in one - even Princess Peach has starred in her own game. - dpknc84, on 07/18/2009, -1/+22I'm really getting tired of seeing people blindly digging MrBabyMan for blatantly ripping off other people's work.
- Velocity14, on 07/18/2009, -0/+20I'd like to claim that Paper Mario is some sort of spawn of Super Mario RPG. They both utilized timed button pressing for extra damage/blocking. There is a significant story infused within the game...
I personally enjoyed what they did with the Gamecube Paper Mario. It was extremely enjoyable to play. - Apond, on 07/18/2009, -0/+18He starred in Mario Is Missing also
- LoveWidescreen, on 07/18/2009, -1/+19Mario or MrBabyMan?
- Dervish108, on 07/17/2009, -1/+19I love the Power Glove. It's so bad!
- kakwakas, on 07/18/2009, -0/+17And Mallow. We need more Mallow!
AND FROGFUCIOUS FOR THAT MATTER! - MikeOSX, on 07/18/2009, -0/+17Nintendo would probably need Squaresoft's permission to reuse those characters.
- TheMarenum, on 07/18/2009, -0/+16Mario 3 pwns.
- GarageMann, on 07/18/2009, -0/+16I know, is it just me or at the very beginning two monkeys produce a human...
- zenthax, on 07/18/2009, -0/+16yeah well, you're right
- cypher35, on 07/18/2009, -0/+15I think the Wario games should have come out of the Mario Land 2 branch, and the Super Paper Mario series should have spawned out of the Mario RPG branch.
- jholden42, on 07/18/2009, -2/+16This is a neat idea, but I can't agree with the way it's set up, in terms of which games begat which.
First off, it seems as though there's supposed to be a straight line from game to game starting at the top and going straight through Mario Galaxy - most of the games in this line are the "normal" Mario games in each generation. This is perfectly reasonable. However, given this, for example the branch that begins with Famicom Grand Prix F-1 Race should then go to its sequel, then Super Mario Kart, then 64... etc. They shouldn't be all on the same line, as though each was a separate "child" of Famicom Grand Prix F-1, all in the same generation - Mario Kart Wii is arguably the offspring of Mario Kart Double Dash, which in turn is the offspring of Mario Kart 64...
And you see this problem throughout the chart.
The other problem I have is with the placement of the RPGs. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars begat Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (an RPG with the same timed-hit system and similar humor), which in turn begat Partners In Time (unfortunately), the successor of which will be Bowser's Inside Story. These later games are not branches from Sunshine. (The Paper Marios are correctly, I feel, separate from the Mario RPGs.)
Similarly, New Super Mario Bros. (and New Super Mario Bros. Wii - where's that? (Or Mario Galaxy 2?) Or was this chart made pre-E3?) are offshoots - they do not belong in the main line, which shows the relationships between the main console games. - m0dded, on 07/18/2009, -0/+13Paper Mario was definitely there. Fail reverse!!
- FortyCaliber, on 07/18/2009, -1/+14That's the name of the Mario Game for the next Nintendo system.
- Agamemnon582bc, on 07/18/2009, -0/+13I don't know why, but his direct linking to the image ended up exceeding my bandwidth on my photobucket account.
- JameseyPoos, on 07/18/2009, -0/+12It's actually called "Super Assload of Mario"
- evergrim, on 07/18/2009, -1/+13My favourites:
Super Mario Bros 3
Mario Kart Double Dash
Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door
Mario 64 - Newedge14, on 07/18/2009, -0/+11I still say Geno would be an amazing addition to any current Mario Game, including Smash Bros
- Chrus, on 07/18/2009, -2/+13Thinking its time for Nintendo to come up with some new characters.
- Gonasadude, on 07/18/2009, -0/+11I came here to say this.
- Trel, on 07/18/2009, -1/+12This list is inaccurate as far as what stems from what.
Wario Land is a direct offshoot of Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.
Wario starts there, not off Super Mario World. - jeremymccurdy, on 07/18/2009, -2/+12It's still not even remotely as awesome as Super Mario RPG. Also Paper Mario on the 'Cube has massive walls of text that are boring as hell.
- Shadic, on 07/18/2009, -0/+10Pretty good, not quite as good as Super Mario RPG, but probably more creative, especially in terms of gameplay.
- densetsu23, on 07/18/2009, -0/+10I thought they gave up on bringing SMB2 from JP to US because of the difficulty, and just took another completely different game (Doki Doki Panic) and changed the sprites to be Mario and crew.
It's an adopted kid, but they still get to be in family trees. - tgc1, on 07/18/2009, -0/+10Frog Suit was kinda useless in that game. Tanooki suit FTW!
- DouglasQ, on 07/18/2009, -1/+11We do not speak of that!
- aurorous, on 07/18/2009, -1/+11You mean like Olimar? or Marth and Roy?
Or how about with the Wii sports games where you can make up your own characters.
My 7 year old nephew doesn't know or care who Mickey Mouse is but he knows Mario, Luigi's mansion is currently his favorite game. That kind of brand recognition is is what all companies strive for. - Bkkgnar, on 07/18/2009, -0/+9Shouldn't the tree have been arranged so that SMRPG spawned Paper Mario? Because that's how it seems.
- mizooks, on 07/18/2009, -2/+11Nintendo, Thank you for keeping my virginity a few extra years.
