- driftwood07, on 10/10/2007, -4/+64for anyone who doesn't know the significance of Havok physics, Half Life 2 is one of the showcases of them .
- mrsneakypat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+37This will make the bumper items even more fun.
- MioTheGreat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+32Fun?!
You sadistic bastard. Those bumpers are evil! EVIL I TELLS YA! - illcendiary, on 10/10/2007, -0/+30It says that the list of games is for games using Havok products, not necessarily the physics engine. It could be their Havok animation package or something.
- Alegis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+29Ragdoll/item bouncing/Characters and their (excessive) luggage bouncing/collision detection ... Could be a couple of few things it's implemented in.
It sounds like a neat lil' extra. - Bob042, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28Does this mean Gordon Freeman and the Crowbar will be included? One can only hope.
- dheaddy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28NEWCOMER!: Gordon Freeman. Use the Gravity Gun to toss your opponents across the stage! Witness the fury of Freeman's 'Crowbar Crush' Final Smash attack!
- xSet, on 10/10/2007, -12/+37I might just buy a Wii for this game.
- thatgreekguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23Isnt the physics engine different than the game's engine itself? because if so, then havok and source are two different things.
- cerealjynx, on 10/10/2007, -3/+21Finally, some honest to goodness Princess Peach Toadstool tittybouncin's! :D
I've been waiting since smb1 D: - UtopiaInTheSky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18http://games.ign.com/articles/402/402601p1.html ... Google first, then comment.
- Shaflugi, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Somehow, I doubt they'll have boob physics.
- Azimuth1, on 10/10/2007, -6/+23No it wasn't.
- NeoCortex, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Three words: Zero Suit Samus
- OpticalLiam, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Such an informative blog!
- xShad0w, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Interesting how the top says xbox 360, wii, and ps3 games below will use havok engine and starcraft 2 is there
- fantasticFlan, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14HL2 used Havok physics.
- hotdamn, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13That's so wrong, man.
- ElbridgeGerry, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Bounciness?
- TheNik, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8It's for when the giant shepherd's cane drags you off the stage in a super-realistic fashion. :)
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -0/+8Better question is : Why not?
- Soave, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8And I keep burying YOU. But at least I have a good reason to do so.
- MattNF, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Yes it was.
http://wii.ign.com/articles/670/670552p1.html - petikeke, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Elebits kinda proved it could do physics at launch.
- SSCrow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Huh, Ragdoll would be a pretty awesome touch to Smash Bros.
But I would rather see the Euphoria motion synthesis engine in a game like Smash Bros. - Lazrius, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6http://www.havok.com/content/blogcategory/37/78/
Why is Guitar Hero 3 using Havok physics? - TalkingBanana, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8DOA style
- baddog121390, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It doesnt, the physx engine can run in software mode if there's no physx chip installed
- Zenithan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Uh, if we were playing the same Starcraft...you can only select 12 units on the PC/Mac version.
- Renton, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Except there are destructible environments.
- slaystench, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Doesn't really tell us anything, it could be used for a number of different things.
- Hacksaws, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source_engine
Networked Physics
Originate from Havok 2 physics engine
Highly-tuned by Valve
Processor-efficient
Software only
Fully networked with low bandwidth requirements
Vehicle physics including torque, power, gears, tire material, suspension and mode.
Yes, Source is it's own engine. They modified it so much that there is no way its Havok. They just started with Havok rather then scratch. - Tikkimann, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4and yet, people still hated.
Stupid, stupid, stupid. - themastersb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4All that technology just for physics for Samus' breasts.
- TrancePhreak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4PS3 has 7 SPE's, one of which is reserved for the OS at all times.
- championchap, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5You'd prefer to see Links bulge bouncing?
- noumuon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4the physx chip is a physics processing unit (ppu). its sole purpose is to take the load of physics processing off of the cpu.
- Zenithan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3From what I've seen of Starcraft II, the physics really aren't that impressive. While the ship crashes look cool, the units all seem to die with a generic animation that doesn't leave a body behind. If you want a showcase of physics, see Company of Heroes. Now THAT is an impressive RTS.
- hassanchop13, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3you could always hook up a keyboard/mouse to the ps3 or just use the wiimote like a mouse. some people even like C&c3 on 360, although i'm not a fan.
- joey368, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3maybe you get to get the characters all ***** up looking
- jonshipman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4the xbox 1 had hl2 and therefore havok physics
- Pake, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4It's not extremely. It's a hardly modified version of the Havok physics. Also, Doom 3 does not use Havok. If you're going to blindly support VALVe, at least google what you're about to say so you don't give out wrong information.
- nav1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3While I suppose you're just wishful thinking, Nintendo stated that for a character to appear in Smash Brawl, It has to be featured in a game for a Nintendo system, so, not chance of that happening.
- noumuon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3you keep burying them, yet they keep popping up and staying up on the front page. maybe you should head back to school; you seem to be a slow learner.
- Katana314, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Those have always seemed just...unnatural to me. I liked Alyx much more than the SiN characters.
- championchap, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3one angle as in the camera is set at the front.. you dont circle around the fighters..
But it would be crazy to do that, there is far too much going on at any oen time to have a camera that circles around the players. Just wouldn't work. - cozamonkey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I already did.
- Pake, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Not really. HL2 is nothing more than the Havok 2.0 engine either way you cook it. The only thing VALVe created was the graphics portion with a little help of them outside companies as well. VALVe is no ID or Epic.
- KungFuJesus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3that would be.... AWESOME
