Shaking a sword in real life is how you block attacks...if you are an idiot. - Bodhesatva, on 10/11/2007, -1/+26This is precisely how I'd word my PR if I wanted people to believe that my game did, in fact, have 1:1 movements, even if it didn't.
I'll bet you 100 Digg dollars that it's just resembling your movements, not 1:1. - h0ly, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22"in-game characters will perform the exact sword actions that players are THINKING of"
This can also fit the description for gesture based movements... - Klarth, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13Something tells me the nunchuk isn't the part of the controller mapped to 1:1 movement in-game.
- Nomad83, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14" much like the baseball bat in Wii Sports."
Ah, but can I use the bat from wii sports??? That'd be fun... - Scopitone, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Just give us bouncing Ivy.
- Araxen, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12This better have Link in it again!
- thenatador, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8The question is not how the Wii controls will work. The question is, how much bigger Taki's boobs are going to be? And how have they improved the boob bounce effects?
- FizixMan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8What is the Digg Dollar to Schrute Bucks exchange rate? Can I get anything worthwhile with the Digg Dollars? I got about 10,000 Schrute bucks saved up.
- JohnnyXmas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5FTA: "in-game characters will perform the exact sword actions that players are thinking of"
OMFG! Telepathic Wii Controls FTW!!!! - MWeather, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5So they got rid of the various fighting arts and replaced them with flailing your arms around?
- juicebag, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I agree. If it had 1:1, they would definitely be showing it off, because that's a huge selling point.
- Step1Mark, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6no... red steel wanted you to mimic moves that were unlocked as you played.
your first sword fight you could only slash and block. - Slickjim, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4It can also describe mind-control! A Wii accessory that reads your mind.
- oracleofmist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4finally, those crazy awesome Ivy grabs....***** that.....wii all the way
- jasonpoon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Totally reflect the player's gesture, unlike the control in Red Steel.
That's what they should do with the Wii remote.
I think they are going to do the same thing in the coming Wii Star Wars game. - Step1Mark, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2for those who dont play alot of wii games... you will quickly find out that the nunchuck gets either less attention when it comes to programmers tweaking the controls.
- m4szyman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I wouldnt compare Soul Calibur to Red Steel, I mean Ubisoft churns out like 100 (mostly sub-par) games a year - theyre almost as bad as EA. Was it any suprise that Red Steel (which was in development for like 1 year) sucked? I'm sure the SC team is putting in the time and effort to get this right, all the other SC games have been awesome
- PvtJenkins, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Exactly. I love how the submitter removed the "?" at the end of the title. FACT, CONFIRMED. no. it's not.
- dugbay, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2@alexkorva
your theory is wrong. If you are playing a FPS and you run into a wall does the analog stick move to center? Does the mouse stop? No. Its no different here.
Your brain will register what is happening and you will stop the motion. - metalhead87, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11:1 controls sound good, but in a certain environment. I'm not sure how it would work in a fighting game......1:1 seems like it would work best in a game that is in first-person(like maybe a first-person perspective in a boxing game). Otherwise it may be awkward to control your character.....that is if it actually has 1:1 controls, of course.
- avidlinuxuser, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1At least, this game has the good team. It's comprised of the guys from SC1 and SC2. The SCIV team contains primarily the SC3 team.
- alexkorova, on 12/29/2007, -0/+1No, it's not, because your analog stick isn't in the position your character is in the game. While this with 1:1 sword controls is that the wiimotes position and rotation would equal that to the sword in the game, and that would make you able to put the sword in the game in "impossible" positions.
- Murdats, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1not sure about the ps2 game but the original xbox and GC exclusive characters were both uber bitchy, I assume the same for ps2
- rarson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'm a little worried too, but with the amount of quality oozing from every single orifice of every single Soul Calibur game to date, I can't imagine Namco not putting out a great game.
- ShadedSpriter, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I can't wait to try Ivy's moves out on this game...whip sword all the way.
- rarson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I don't really care what they do, as long as it plays well. I've got my worries, but then again, this is Namco and Soul Calibur, not Ubisoft and Red Steel.
- Perfectsound, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This won't work. A Wii fighting game needs practical use of the motion sensors. For example. Dodging: Simply flick the nunchuck quickly to the left/right to dodge left/right.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1...as long as they get rid of his damned bow. That thing made play so one-sided that I got to the point that I refused to play against my nephew because the little bastard would just sit on the other side of the arena and pick you off over and over and over and over...
- MillenniumX, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1That's what I'm thinking, which is just as well, given how bad 1:1 actually is in practice.
- oracleofmist, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1dugg down the comment, not link to source but some crazy website w/ embedded video
- alexkorova, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Ok, how many times do I need to say this, one to one will never work. It just doesn't, if your in-game character has a big wall infront of them, or say, an enemy sword, and you strike down, the thing will block it in the game. Your wiimote and your in-game swords will be in totally different positions. What they can do however, is have the wiimote as a desired location of sword.
- cgruber, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Too bad this is an 'ADVENTURE' game.
- Esuzumy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I don't care if it's not true -- just, WANT MOAR INFO.
- MWeather, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1So they got rid of the various fighting arts and replaced them with flailing your arms around?
- revital9, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Soul Calibur fans might like this too: http://www.hooqs.com/soul-calibur/17021,19686
- MCHampster, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2The guys over at IGN talked about this claim on the Wii-k in review podcast a couple weeks ago. It is most assuredly not the 1:1 that people are thinking off. It's more of a, "if you swing left, the sword should move left" type movement, but not directly 1:1.
Marked as inaccurate. - SweetChinMusic, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0Isn't this what they said about Red Steel?
- ToastedZergling, on 10/11/2007, -7/+0dugg for walrueses
- Sonderiaom, on 10/11/2007, -20/+5However, didn't Red Steel boast of the same thing and yet failed?
