- christopheles, on 01/27/2008, -4/+150SSBB SPOILERS:
Aeris dies. - Checkerd, on 01/27/2008, -0/+48Whatever, I'll just get the mod that puts her back in the game.
- foofightrs777, on 01/27/2008, -2/+40The story is all bonus in my opinion. Multi is always where Smash has made its living. I can't wait for this one.
- Smwbigboss, on 01/27/2008, -1/+35Some of the characters are on a bus on the way to the stadium. Samus is there. Donkey Kong is there and Snake is watching the bus from afar. The end.
- amoo3, on 01/27/2008, -4/+37Wait, what? SSB has a story?
- Pradko, on 01/27/2008, -11/+41o man i am drunk
- castleking, on 01/27/2008, -0/+27He goes on to say that they developed Melee with the same mindset. It helps to create a polished, complete product.
- bwishey, on 01/27/2008, -1/+24If... you don't want to have Mario fighting Link in Hyrule then... don't play Smash Bros...?
- vagrantwade, on 01/27/2008, -4/+26Cloud aint got ***** on Link!
- Flaxseed, on 01/27/2008, -1/+21I can't wait until you guys play Brawl online. If you think of Smash Bros. games as "button mashers" you're in for a world of hurt.
- quamb, on 01/27/2008, -0/+20Are you kidding?? Zelda length?? Mate... Seriously, this game is ridiculous in the amount of content and replay value you're getting. Even if it didn't include ANY kind of single-player adventure mode.
- doshindude, on 01/27/2008, -3/+22I just hope the SE story is about the same length as Zelda or something (not something I could complete in an hour on a speed run) and every single part has plenty of replay value (of course, if it doesn't, the multiplayer will implicitally make up for that.)
- Apokalyps2547, on 01/27/2008, -0/+19Final boss is a pansy, but the Emerald Weapon will rock your socks.
- ilvcountry5, on 01/27/2008, -7/+26Is that REALLY the best premise for a story Nojima originally came up with? He really phoned that one in...
- Derelict267, on 01/27/2008, -2/+21Ganon stabs Zelda, Zelda dies.
- Elranzer, on 01/27/2008, -1/+20He said he was developing Brawl *AS IF* it were the last SSB game. This is just the way he thinks while developing a game. "Treat everyday as if it were your last."
- GeneralFailure0, on 01/27/2008, -1/+19http://xkcd.com/299/
I'm aware linking to xkcd is pretty much cliche at this point, but I think this one to be particularly relevant. - machocheese34, on 01/27/2008, -2/+18So i guess Peach dies
- Azdak, on 01/27/2008, -13/+27who on god's green earth plays a button mashing fighting game for the story?
- Syric, on 01/27/2008, -0/+14Um... cool, I guess. The article didn't say much to be honest.
- Arramol, on 01/27/2008, -0/+13Hey, it could be worse. I was half expecting to see an angsty, nihilistic Mario sporting a new spiky haircut. Depending on choices you make in game, he'll go on a date with either Peach, Zelda, or Samus.
- solidsnake1298, on 01/27/2008, -3/+16*****. Nintendo won't let anyone die in their games. At the end of SM Galaxy you toss Bowser into a ***** STAR!!! And Nintendo doesn't allow him to die.
- coolgangsta, on 01/27/2008, -1/+14It's official, this game is gonna rock my socks off. Nintendo Wii's killer app.
- Shuk, on 01/27/2008, -8/+19Out of all games, they decide to get a quality writer for Super Smash Bros. Seriously, who cares about the story? There's no way you can take this game seriously. Actually, half the reason why it's good is because it doesn't take itself seriously!
- anotherjeff, on 01/27/2008, -0/+11how bout the millions of goombas that risked their lives. All they wanted to do was get to the left.
- T8erT0T, on 01/27/2008, -4/+15The last SSB title? Ok, does anyone wanna take a prop-bet that Nintendo will role out another Smash Bros, and their next console following the Wii?
And just to make it interesting, what do you say we do a parlay bet right into Nintendo rolling out another Zelda, Mariokart, Mario Party, and Metroid game for that future console?
Put me down for $30, plus $10 per every game listed. Takers? - Elranzer, on 01/27/2008, -3/+14I'm pretty sure Disney's characters are more loved than hated. Pretty much only anime otaku hate Disney characters. You know... the kind who swear that the Japanese voice acting is better than the English voice acting, simply because they cannot understand the Japanese dialog.
- Bender1012, on 01/27/2008, -4/+15PRINCESS ZELDA DIES
- YellowSnowDemon, on 01/27/2008, -0/+10Button mashing in Smash Bros? Melee is one of the most technical fighting games in the world. Dugg down for ignorance.
- Sairgem, on 01/27/2008, -0/+9Welcome to the Internet, where everyone bashes FF7 for being popular, and praises FF6.
- xero7, on 01/27/2008, -0/+9Bowser never dies though.... he came back to life in New Super Mario Bros.!!!
- Cyberbladewolf, on 01/27/2008, -1/+9Ya know, you still have a new button-masher, it's just that this button masher includes a storyline too. Just play through the story and unlock the characters and never play it again if you hate it so much.
- Elranzer, on 01/27/2008, -1/+9Same guy, I think. The staff changed mostly between FF5 to FF6. FF7's team was mostly comprised of the same people as FF6, hence the pseudo-steampunk/cyberpunk feel.
- Zizhou, on 01/27/2008, -1/+9Or, if you play your cards right, Snake...
- sevenalive, on 01/27/2008, -1/+8a little off topic but seriously how many final fantasies need to be made. They keep on lying to me saying that this is going to be the final fantasy and sure enough another one comes out!
- Magee1205, on 01/27/2008, -0/+7Seems like SSBB gets better & better everyday. I just hope they deliver all they promise.
- iofthestorm, on 01/27/2008, -0/+7Well, technically he didn't write the whole thing, he worked with Sakurai to write it. His original idea about some characters randomly meeting up on a bus or something was hilarious but not what Sakurai was going for.
- gcacho, on 01/27/2008, -8/+14That's just a smokescreen. The real story will be about a comet named Jack Thompson, planning to smash its way to the Mushroom Kingdom. And the last unlockable character will be Chuck Norris who will save the day. End of story.
- consonance, on 01/27/2008, -2/+8The first conversation between the two probably went like this (in Japanese, of course):
Sakurai: Hey, Mr. Nojima, want to write the story behind the next Super Smash Bros. game?
Nojima: No.
Sakurai: Please?
Nojima: Well, if you insist, OK. Some of the characters are on a bus on the way to the stadium. Samus is there. Donkey Kong is there and Snake is watching the bus from afar. Also I hate the Gamecube. Do I get paid now?
Sakurai: Um, no. - SSUK, on 01/27/2008, -0/+6Ending spoilers: The announcer says "Congratulations" in an annoying tone.
- Boor, on 01/27/2008, -0/+6Remember the commercial for the original smash brothers, the one with all the Nintendo characters prancing through a meadow then all of a sudden they start beating on each other? That was awesome.
- Asberry, on 01/27/2008, -2/+7If I heard news tomorrow that this game gives BJs too, I would not be surprised.
This will be the best Wii game for sure. - MasterGrief, on 01/27/2008, -0/+5You won't make it far here.
- GeneralFailure0, on 01/27/2008, -1/+6Viewtiful Luigi!
- allisonaxe, on 01/27/2008, -0/+5This means that we'll have Luigi crying in the corner over how he never gets to be a hero... but then, he'll put on a red suit and pretend to be someone better than he is.
- Xabora, on 01/27/2008, -5/+10FF7 Epic? HA! FF6 was epic.
- bduddy, on 01/27/2008, -0/+4I suspect he wasn't quite sure of the kind of story Sakurai wanted.
- FinalLimit, on 01/27/2008, -4/+8haha
- AydenV2, on 01/27/2008, -1/+5Is it "Cool" to hate FF7 now? Your nothing but a poser. Stop letting idiots tell you what to think about games.
- SSUK, on 01/27/2008, -2/+6Let's just forget that airships have been in Mario on and off since Mario Bros. 3...
