- atomicpoet, on 11/16/2007, -2/+34Well, it does look to me that the Wii has become the console of choice for light gun fans. RE:UC is getting good reviews (for a light gun game). Ghost Squad has sold well in Japan so far. Even Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 has an on rails mode. I think we are finally seeing light gun rennaissance on home consoles.
- BillyParks, on 11/16/2007, -1/+21I agree the light gun definitely makes for a better gaming experience. I'm actually looking forward to Duck Hunt coming out on the Wii.
- juliandunbar11, on 11/16/2007, -0/+17nope, I love it. Thanks though..
- johnhummel, on 11/16/2007, -0/+14I'm still waiting for an announcement of Time Crisis 1-3 compilation and Silent Scope 1-3 compilation for the Wii. Sell the games for $30, and you'll have ton's o' sales easy.
- tkamen, on 11/16/2007, -0/+14Wii Zapper + Wii Fit Board = Time Crisis!
- snerge, on 11/16/2007, -0/+13Try the shooting range in Wii Play, pretty much the same as duck hunt
- rubixsphere, on 11/16/2007, -2/+13Ummmm. This is going to be amazing, i am way into some light gun shooterss. Time crisis anyone?
- spyrochaete, on 11/16/2007, -0/+11Too bad it doesn't have new, innovative games like Halo 3 and Virtua Fighter 5.
- havokdu, on 11/16/2007, -3/+13Dear PS3 fanboy: You should give Metroid Prime 3 or Wii Play a chance. Wiimote aim is perfect.
Regards. - spyrochaete, on 11/16/2007, -1/+10I think you must have some kind of terrible deformity or disease of your arm. Are you an octopus or a sloth, perhaps? Do you live right on the San Andreas Fault where your house never stops shaking? I have no idea what you're talking about. I've never had the problems you describe and your response had nothing to do with my comment.
- xthpsgodx, on 11/16/2007, -1/+9Soon we will all suffer like G did.
- DoctorWhohaa, on 11/16/2007, -0/+7Funny. I e-mailed Sega when I first got my Wii about porting HOTD. Apparently I wasn't the only one.
I didn't expect 2&3 on one disc though. Looks like I got my new favorite drunk game! - Elranzer, on 11/16/2007, -1/+8There's no dog, though...
- spyrochaete, on 11/16/2007, -0/+6... or double post annihilator 5000
- MarkOfTheDead, on 11/16/2007, -0/+5And not really too many ducks for that matter, either.
- uppedbyhiggins, on 11/16/2007, -2/+7I love the controller, but I'll take you up on that "Digg me down" offer!
- AntBing, on 11/16/2007, -1/+6I actually like the controller. It's the majority of games that are *****.
- smackafiyah, on 11/16/2007, -0/+5SIR GOOOLLLLLLLLDDDDD!!!
- Cyber_Akuma, on 11/16/2007, -0/+5Sorry if this sounds ungreatful but.... why House of the dead 2 and 3 but not 1?
- Peynis, on 11/16/2007, -0/+4the Wiimote is actually surprisingly responsive...it sends the data to the Wii with virtually no delay...good enough to simulate a light-gun, if you ask me...
the main problem is the missing calibration feature...as long as you don't move the sensor bar, it should be no problem to calibrate the Wiimote to work as precise as a lightgun...
even if you're still not able to aim without an on-screen cursor it'd still be a large move forwards... - speccy, on 11/16/2007, -0/+4Eh? WTF are you on about? The Wiimote is exceptionally accurate at pointing. And the target moves as fast across the screen as you can move your hand. Your Wii must be *****, get it repaired or replaced.
- EtherGnat, on 11/16/2007, -0/+4Dude, you're either lying or have issues with your setup. I sit on my couch, with my hand rested on my knee, and with small wrist movements have perfect control of the cursor on screen. I've used several other Wiis and had no problem with any of them. I have seen jittery cursors before, but if you play around with the sensitivity settings, sensor bar position, and lighting just a bit it's easy to correct.
- Misanthrope, on 11/16/2007, -0/+4Well you have fat, out of shape friends. That and I'm sure you're a ***** sloth the way your posts sound. Try lifting the jug of milk yourself instead of having your mommy pour it for you...that alone should be enough to play the Wii without pain...Jesus Christ it's really not that hard.
- ButchersBoy, on 11/16/2007, -0/+4All we need now is Operation Wolf and Operation Thunderbolt on VC/WiiWare. That would rock my video gaming world.
- KingGoonie, on 11/16/2007, -1/+5Actually its probably had the best launch year games wise of any console of the past few generations.
- smackafiyah, on 11/16/2007, -0/+4I loved HOTD 2, only played a little of 3. Why not add in the first one as well.
- inactive, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3Everybody come Skeet Surfing!
- vondrak, on 11/17/2007, -0/+3Wow, when was the last time you were able to pull out a Top Secret reference. Nice work.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3It always sounded to me like "suffer?......like G did?"
- MarkOfTheDead, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3I'm having difficulty piecing that together into a point.
- MikeD606, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3The only part of the wiimote I hate are how the 1 and 2 buttons are impossible to hit when holding the wiimote in the regular fashion (The remote control position for the Warioware fans). It made it impossible to use the "Strip ball" feature in Madden.
Other than that, as a point and shoot its great. I also loved the on rails minis in Rayman. - atomicpoet, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3We're digging you down because the only thing you have to offer to the discussion is fanboy wankery.
- atomicpoet, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3There's lots in common with a light gun. You point and you shoot. Speaking of precision and reaction, have you actually played RE:UC? My only complaint is that it takes a lot of shots to kill those zombies. But frustration turns to appreciation when I actually do blow their heads off.
- pbaehr, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3I've said this a few times but they need to use a calibration utility for lightgun style games so that they can do away with the on-screen cursor. If they start doing that I will buy every lightgun game they make.
Maybe there is a technical reason this isn't feasible but it seems to me that if you establish the corners of the screen in the beginning and the person doesn't change seats it should work. No? - spyrochaete, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3My arm ached after the weekend I got my Wii also. You know what the cure is? Don't play Wii for 6 hours a day.
- ButchersBoy, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3Sounds like a new we could have a new genre: "shoot 'n' surf". It would be like Baywatch meets the A-Team!
- theragu40, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3This is fantastic news. If they end up including The Typing of the Dead as a bonus (like the article was hoping), I think my head might just explode.
- zeebo, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3Light gun games of old were hardly 'pixel perfect', thus the ever popular 'point at a lightbulb and never miss' trick of Duck Hunt. The Wiimote handles the duties of a pointer quite well, better than an analog stick even if its not quite as precise as a mouse. I have no trouble at all moving the cursor around the screen with just my wrist, are you trying to use it too close to the screen?
- inactive, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3Welcome to 5 years ago Wii, where the classic XBOX (and now the 360) can play these games on one disk. Shouldn't the Wii have more than a couple good games at this point?
- spyrochaete, on 11/16/2007, -0/+3Why can't they bundle #1 as well? It was a fun game and I can't imagine it takes up more than 100MB of diskspace.
- inactive, on 11/20/2007, -0/+2Galaxy, is a SINGLE game. And good is debatable.
- atomicpoet, on 11/16/2007, -0/+2I'd only want the online reticle to go away if the gun came with a decent scope. Home consoles have historically not offered anything decent like that.
- atomicpoet, on 11/16/2007, -0/+2It's good. It's very good.
- mparker7410, on 11/16/2007, -0/+2Dugg for "Wii to suffer like G did"
ROFL! - speccy, on 11/16/2007, -0/+2Yep, not only is the Wii good for "on-rails" type shooters, it's control system is also excellent for standard FPS. Take Metroid Prime 3, or the new Medal of Honour - Heroes 2. The Wiimote is used to aim/look around, whilst the nunchuk is used to walk/straffe. These give the best FPS control system for any console, and probably better than a PC (you don't have to be sat behind a desk for a start).
- MarkOfTheDead, on 11/16/2007, -0/+2Takes up only about 15-20 mb on pc :D
- atomicpoet, on 11/16/2007, -0/+2I agree, the positioning of the 1 and 2 buttons can be a pain.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 11/16/2007, -0/+2Seriously.
I had my fill of 2 back in the day on dreamcast. How about the revival of 1 for those of us without a home arcade machine or 1 of the 3 saturns sega actually sold. - GreyICE, on 11/16/2007, -0/+2However, calibration potential exists. I think any lightgun shooters should definitely use lightgun calibration.
- Peynis, on 11/16/2007, -2/+4what "lightgun" are you people talking about?
there is no lightgun for the Wii - just that piece of plastic that's supposed to make the Wiimote look like a gun, which has absolutely nothing in common with a light gun...
it's the nightmare of every light gun fan...the pointer of the Wiimote doesn't nearly have the same precision and fast reaction of a lightgun -
