- moraldebate, on 04/15/2008, -3/+25Why does the IGN site design still look like its 1999? Does nobody at that company notice just how unappealing and terrible-looking the site is? I've seen misspelled domain spam that's more eye-catching than that muddled mess.
- samfishercell, on 04/15/2008, -20/+37Wow --and I say this as a hardcore Nintendo fan-- the next several months look mighty boring.
Mario Kart: Casual Gaming Edition looks like a turd with it's uninspired racetracks, midair tricks, and bikes (!?). Wii Fit isn't even designed to make you...fit (which equals a $90 waste of time in my book). Mario Super Sluggers looks to be nothing more than a mildly fleshed out Wii Sports Baseball. Boom Blox had its coolest feature removed.
This is just not looking good. Nintendo better wow me at E3 (by the way: whoever moved that to July should be shot), or my money might be headed elsewhere very soon. - mywhitenoise, on 04/15/2008, -3/+20Yes you do own the world....of warcraft. Loser.
- pedo, on 04/15/2008, -0/+15i love nintendo as much as the next guy. but, why does every nintendo game have to feature mario, zelda, metroid, or donkey kong? can't they make a baseball game without making it "mario baseball" or a golf game without making it "mario golf" or a tennis game without making it "mario tennis"? i understand these are nintendo mascots but for ***** sake, enough already. these games would be just as good (if not better) without mario.
- mparker7410, on 04/15/2008, -2/+16"we had the chance to go hands-on with everything from Mario Kart's online mode -- flawless, by the way --"
We'll see how flawless it is when millions of consumers have go at it. - mazza558, on 04/15/2008, -2/+14Hey, MK:Wii's actually a very good game. It's not amazing, but it beats DD any day.
- Carrot1991, on 04/15/2008, -4/+15Despite having a 360 and owning games such as COD4, Halo etc I've been gaming with Nintendo for at least 3/4 of my life (I'm 16) I've played all of the mario karts and I have to say the new mario kart is ***** awesome.
- hipnotyq, on 04/15/2008, -2/+13gameplay>graphics

- hipnotyq, on 04/15/2008, -3/+12...retard
- fantasticFlan, on 04/15/2008, -0/+5I understand why you might want that, but why on earth would Nintendo choose to do that?
- InvaderDem, on 04/15/2008, -0/+5Would it be a safe argument that Nintendo is accomodating the people who grew up with them? (Starting from the NES) Let's think about this - I have a full-time job, a wife and a kid. I don't really have time to invest 60 hours a week into a video game. I'm sure I'm not the only one in that scenario. I just don't have time like I used to to play games 24/7. But it is nice to pop in Super Smash Brothers and play a few matches, or do a few events in Wii Sports and Wii Play.
Whether we want to admit it or not, we sometimes become casual players and don't even know it. If you're married, or have a full-time job there's a chance that you're now a casual gamer. - thecoin, on 04/15/2008, -0/+5all I've been waiting for is a hockey game, wrist flopping to deke makes me salivate, guess i'll have to wait another year :(
- Flynnz, on 04/15/2008, -1/+6well maybe not off the hook, but definitely off line :)
- mywhitenoise, on 04/15/2008, -3/+7friend codes. You can't say flawless and friend codes in the same sentence....unless that sentence is "friend codes are the absolute opposite of flawless!".
- samfishercell, on 04/15/2008, -1/+5Agreed. I'm always amazed at how much stuff they try to cram into every little nook and cranny of their page. Their main page is a visual assault -- which is only multiplied when it's skinned for a promotion.
Their "journalism" has taken a hit since the early days too. I remember when they used to sneak footage and break stories...and now they like to play the "we know something cool, but can't talk about it" game. I realize embargoes have become a lot more widespread since the early days, but needless to say IGN has sold out time and time again. - flickr, on 04/15/2008, -2/+6If by "off the hook" you mean "no online features", then you are right on the money.
- hixxy, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4I'd rather punch you in the face than sit and type out this message.
- Tishiablo, on 04/15/2008, -1/+5Lol not gonna happen. And I like it this way because I'd rather not spend $400 - $500 on a console just for graphics.
- mywhitenoise, on 04/15/2008, -4/+7DVDs look better than Blu-Ray because DVDs sell more.
Flyleaf and Mariah Carey are better than bands like Broken Social Scene and Joy Division, because they sell more. - theaceoffire, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3"Wiifit will kill everything, game of the year, beats GTA"
What the hell was that guy smoking? Was he just some random dude they interviewed? - TheTjalian, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3Yeah, because the Wii is the ONLY thing Nintendo has ever done, ever. Ever. You're clearly not thinking from a technical perspective, so I'm not even gonna carry this on.
- imikedaman, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3But casual gaming describes the types of games you play, not how often you play them. I myself rarely play video games anymore, but when I do I'd rather slice and dice hordes of enemies in Ninja Gaiden Black than I would cucumbers in Cooking Mama.
I play games that involve a good amount of mental stimulation, so these new crop of over-simplified game formulas just aren't doing it for me. - Pinkshisno, on 04/15/2008, -0/+3Samba de Amigo!
- Takfam, on 04/15/2008, -1/+4"I don't have a wii. I've played it enough to think I have a fair idea" There goes your entire carefully crafted essay.
Have you ever gotten together with friends to play SSBB and suddenly its 2 in the morning and you all realize you haven't eaten since 1 in the afternoon? Have you ever had a drunken romp with Wii Golf? Have you laughed at the quirks and idiosyncracies of No More Heroes?
I thought not. Don't worry, Madden 09 will be out soon. You and your frat boys can salivate over the next round of First Person Shooters until then. - ExSlashdotter, on 04/16/2008, -2/+5Ya know, samfishercell, I have to agree. This coming from a guy that friggin camped out all night to get my Wii on opening day.
But honestly, I havent bought any games for it since Twilight Princess. Seriously, even with the flood of Wii games that have come out, its still a drought to me... 99% of games out feels like a crappy game rushed out the door with the Wii controls as an afterthought.
Come on Lucasarts, if you screw this one up, we'll never let you live it down. - TheTjalian, on 04/15/2008, -0/+3You fail at life.
Nintendo can pump out the goods as good as they do because a) they're their own publisher, so there's no constraints b) they know the hardware their working with, because THEY BUILT IT, c) because of this, they can do the craziest ***** in hardware. - flickr, on 04/15/2008, -3/+5No offense intended but I think you might need to get out a bit more often. ;)
- moraldebate, on 04/15/2008, -1/+3Somehow, I highly doubt the inclusion of Mario characters in their sports series' is Nintendo's problem. Their problem is that there aren't enough freaking games to go around. You could give me Metal Gear Mario for all I care, as long as it plays well.
- OwlFlavored, on 04/16/2008, -3/+5Metroid Prime 3, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros Brawl are out. All four are guaranteed to beat anything put out by Lucasarts.
- Mrstupid7, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2Apparently you haven't played SSBB. Yes you can button mash, but if you do that against someone who even has a *slight* inkling of how to play the game, you would be utterly dominated.
- DifferentAngle, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2or anywhere that's not the USA and japan
it must take a long time to translate the game to australian - sark666, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Oh and you said there goes your argument when I said I don't have a wii, maybe you overlooked the very first sentence of my post.
- Mrstupid7, on 04/16/2008, -1/+2I don't particularly like GTA. Playing GTA III for about a week got all the GTA out of my system. If it were offered to me I'd take it but meh.
If I still had my gamecube, Mario Kart would be getting around ten or fifteen hours a week still. - hixxy, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1I'm not sure how you think that was Fanboyish, especially when taking into consideration your most Dugg topic is Nintendo.
http://e3nin.nintendo.com/
Seriously though, E32007 had MP3:C, SMG, SSBB's first release date+trailers/teasers, and an announcement for Mario Kart Wii. I'm not sure what could've made it better.
Digg a few less Nintendo articles before assuming I'm a fanboy. - mywhitenoise, on 04/15/2008, -2/+3he's probably in Europe.
- MewTwo, on 04/15/2008, -3/+4Were you just talking ***** about Mariah Carey? How ***** dare you.
- Claude1971, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1it's hard to play that ***** music on a didgeridoo
- ELCad, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1looks good. It was to hard to find for the Dreamcast.
I like that you can use two wii motes per person so they both will rattle and shake. - KnockoutNerd, on 04/15/2008, -3/+4You said everything I wanted to. I consider myself a pre-Wii Nintendo fanboy. I only have 4 games for my Wii and I had it for over a year, and all my games are made by Nintendo.
- Claude1971, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1punch him with my Wii-mote instead of a bunch of rolled up quarters!!
- Mrstupid7, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Wiggling your hands to make Mario play soccer?
- Nidis, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1So.. you can't WAIT for the next bunch of Mario endorsed stuff? I think you got kinda confused in your Nintendo-bagging. I'll admit, the Wii doesn't have the extensive amount of unique games that the N64 or Gamecube saw... which you'd think it'd have due to its control style. Though I'm loving Endless Ocean..
- PanicAK, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Still waiting on a Pikman announcement for the DS or the Wii...
- Bishoco, on 04/15/2008, -1/+2I'm a new Wii owner and the next few months look awesome to me. I'm a hardcore PC gamer and I like having a console that gives be a completely different experience. I'm excited for Wii Fit. It fits well with the Wii ethos and, I guarantee, it will be a huge hit in the US. Star Wars: Force Unleashed will finally realize what every nerd first thought when they saw a Wiimote, lightsaber duels. And Boom Blox might just be an innovative and fun puzzle game that makes appropriate use of the Wii controls.
- ImpactedColon, on 04/16/2008, -1/+2Waited in line for a Wii at launch. Been a Wii apologist forever. Tired of cute games. Tired of 480p. I am turning into the person I criticized--the person who said "wiggling your hands to make Mario play soccer" is even less fun than it sounds.
- Nidis, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Werd to that. Holy crap Pikmin is great.
