- MadDoggie, on 01/11/2008, -8/+97They're just going to cancel all the orders.
- geekfrom99, on 01/11/2008, -5/+67thanks buzz killington
- matthewniverse, on 01/11/2008, -4/+59Lemme get this straight... I get to buy Smash Brothers for dirt cheap AND screw over Wal-Mart at the same time? Is it Christmas, again already?
- scabbers, on 01/11/2008, -0/+46See you all on the digg post whining about it not being honoured.
- LinuxLuke, on 01/11/2008, -2/+33So what's the harm then? If they fulfill the orders then we get a better price. If they cancel the orders we are out nothing.
- SpaceRibs, on 01/11/2008, -0/+30Terms of Use, Order Acceptance
"Please note that there may be certain orders that we are unable to accept and must cancel. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse or cancel any order for any reason. For your convenience, you will not be charged until your payment method is authorized, the order information is verified for accuracy and your order is shipped. Some situations that may result in your order being canceled include limitations on quantities available for purchase, inaccuracies or errors in product or pricing information, or problems identified by our credit and fraud avoidance department." - theragu40, on 01/11/2008, -3/+27Damn it, why the hell would someone submit this to digg? You don't want people to "pounce while they can". If there are a small number of orders, there's a chance that Walmart would honor the deal, just to save face. But if a million diggers hit their site and crash their servers over this, you can bet they'll cancel orders. Submitter, thanks - you've likely ruined it for everyone.
- achoi, on 01/11/2008, -2/+26it was a mistake, they moved the price back to $49.82. I missed the window. :-(
- BlackholeStorm, on 01/11/2008, -4/+22I did this the second I saw it. Thank you RSS!
- chadu, on 01/11/2008, -12/+27woohoo! i bought it and so did 3-4 other guys here at work... we're all giddy like japanese school girls. minus the tentacles and skirts.
- Nobi-Wan, on 01/11/2008, -1/+15I think you meant "ditto" and not the singer.
- Antyrael, on 01/11/2008, -4/+17Yar, United States only. We Canadians shall suffer.
Oh well, good luck on you States-ians for this being a real deal. - purzzzell, on 01/11/2008, -0/+11It's been fixed now.
- mywhitenoise, on 01/11/2008, -3/+13Hasn't that always been the price?
- EtherGnat, on 01/11/2008, -1/+10It's almost certainly a mistake. Also, for those who will whine and threaten lawsuits when this is canceled: A company is NOT required to honor an honest price mistake. Bait-and-switch laws only apply to companies which intentionally advertise false prices to get you into the store. If we're really lucky Wal-mart may honor the price, but don't count on it.
- SpaceRibs, on 01/11/2008, -0/+9Hey, i'm just putting it out there, I'm sorry that the terms suck, and I've ordered myself but it looks like their terms can nullify these orders
- scabbers, on 01/12/2008, -0/+9It didn't even take 24 hours haha.
- daivos, on 01/11/2008, -3/+11Congrats. You just proved that someone else noticed the deal. That doesn't validate much of anything. Hope it is honored by Walmart though.
- mywhitenoise, on 01/11/2008, -2/+10When has an online site ever made you pay the remaining balance for a pre-order?
- MonsterChaOS, on 01/11/2008, -5/+13Pounce now while you still can. When Wal-Mart realized the mistake this price will change!
- Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -0/+7We need bargains like this to make up for our weak dollar.
- ambiguus, on 01/11/2008, -1/+8There is no indication that the 20 is a deposit. From the site, it looks to be the full purchase price of the pre-order.
- inactive, on 01/11/2008, -2/+9To the haters, what is the big deal. If you have a Wii you are most likely going to buy it anyways. I took a chance and maybe I will get it at a great price and maybe I will pay retail. Would have paid retail anyways!
- Ouze, on 01/12/2008, -2/+7Come on in, Scabbers, the water's just whine.
http://www.digg.com/nintendo/Walmart_com_canceled_ ... - KingGoonie, on 01/11/2008, -3/+8or just type in walmart.com directly.... instead of clicking a link to take you to another digg article with the link to get there
- inactive, on 01/11/2008, -2/+7Right, so a Family Guy reference from last season. Got anything new or fresh?
- Navicerts, on 01/11/2008, -0/+5No.
- Dr.Gonzo, on 01/11/2008, -0/+5I remember trying to buy a 50" plasma from Tiger Direct when they accidentally listed it for $1. Obviously, they didn't honor that.
- dhess, on 01/11/2008, -1/+6They've already updated it so that when you add it to your cart it changes to $49.82.
Done. Don't bother trying. - Coffeedemon, on 01/11/2008, -2/+7Get a job.
- theragu40, on 01/11/2008, -1/+5Thanks, Reuse-someone-elses-joke-from-twenty-threads-upington.
- theragu40, on 01/11/2008, -1/+5No, the harm is that by posting this on digg, it's now roughly a thousand times less likely to be honored by walmart.
- daurkin, on 01/11/2008, -1/+5aNoble, what is the first rule of SlickDeals. "Never tell anyone about SlickDeals"
BURIED! - NeoCortex, on 01/11/2008, -0/+4They fixed it now. Once you add it to your cart, it shows the normal price.
- mywhitenoise, on 01/11/2008, -0/+4Like Circuit City...damn, I hate those *****! They are the kings of the bait-and-switch tactic.
- Hockey37, on 01/11/2008, -0/+4I wouldn't be too quick to pull that trigger.
- inactive, on 01/11/2008, -0/+4They certainly charged my card instantly.
- whiledo, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4Not really any "harm", per se. I mean, other than to Wal-Mart, which I fully endorse. But people should be aware of it, as Wal-Mart might wait to cancel the orders until they are about to ship, at which point people may find it difficult to find a copy.
Though I doubt that will happen, as it seems the software is MUCH easier to find than the hardware. But people should keep it in mind.
Personally, SSBB is a title I can wait to buy used. I always mean to do this every time I go into gamestop and see them on sale for dirt cheap prices. But it's hard to wait on Mario or Metroid. - inactive, on 01/11/2008, -5/+8Pray that price sticks!
- chokeaduck, on 01/11/2008, -2/+5You do realize it will most likely be only 5 dollars less than full retail used at Gamestop, right? Just checking.
- Misanthrope, on 01/11/2008, -0/+3I think we all understand that it's been fixed now, after about 5000 "FIXED!" posts.
I got it...but I'm certainly not counting on it, and I won't be upset or at all surprised if they cancel it. - timbellomo, on 01/11/2008, -1/+4just missed it - when i started the order it was $20; by the time i was about to hit "confirm" it was 49.99
- smrekar, on 01/11/2008, -0/+3http://www.walmart.com/search/browse-ng.do?search_ ...
advertised for $20 here! add it, it turns to $50. - seanmc303, on 01/11/2008, -0/+3They fixed it. Now $49.98
- owenkun, on 01/11/2008, -1/+4You're going to suck.
Fat *****.
And by 'going to' I mean 'are currently with wild abandon.' - gldfshnpcklejar, on 01/12/2008, -0/+3I never buy "deals" like this, just because I know they are always going to be retracted. They don't have to honor anything, and then all the whiny people will be like "I'm never shopping there again. But it's walmart.... so It's like maybe 5 of the people won't ever shop there again, but they are hurting themselves by shopping at some other overpriced store as opposed to walmart...
- ELCad, on 01/11/2008, -0/+3If I had a local game store, I would. They closed long before Wal-Mart came to town.
- se1zure, on 01/11/2008, -0/+3do diggers never learn?
This kind of thing happens like once a month, but no company ever follows through with it. - areohbe, on 01/11/2008, -0/+3Are their small local game stores? Smallest we have is EB games, which other than physical size, is far from a small local store.
- inactive, on 01/11/2008, -3/+6Right, like your diggspam is better than blogspam. It would take the same amount of clicks at this point.
