- Rhendal, on 02/08/2008, -1/+46Mario could never go left.
- dvsbastard, on 02/08/2008, -2/+46Impressive, but the video was a lot longer than it needed to be... Was all that explanation on how it works really necessary?! Some of the information was painfully obvious...
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -1/+27that was a really cool idea, but the implementation could have been much better, IMO
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -0/+25Spends too much mentally masturbating over having such a cool idea and doesnt show us the goods. (Game being played)
- Murdats, on 02/08/2008, -0/+20why not move the background instead of the tv?
the player wouldnt have to sidestep the whole time and you could make it take up less space by 'packing away' and 'unpacking' the background, it seems simpler and better. - MrBabyMan, on 02/08/2008, -6/+21You do realize the submission you're linking to was posted *later* than this one, right?
- Hoogs, on 02/08/2008, -1/+12I know I will get dugg down for this, but what a complete waste of time. I know, Mario's cool and all, but this was just plain lame... You all know it.
- JohnFlux, on 02/08/2008, -0/+9And if you have the background on a roll, you could do the whole game.
- jo3design, on 02/08/2008, -0/+8I concur.
This was like when you ask someone "How is everything?" and then they actually tell you how everything is. - isaactwito, on 02/08/2008, -0/+8Wait wait wait, what do you press to go right?
- ophello, on 02/08/2008, -0/+7Cwo655321, you do realize what a loser you look like for having no reason to call him a loser.
- yacks, on 02/08/2008, -1/+7Mario could go left, but only to a certain point.
- ophello, on 02/08/2008, -0/+5....said the insane man...
- LStone, on 02/08/2008, -5/+10The way the engrish is write is well.
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -0/+4Pull that dick out of your mouth and get a life.
What, do you follow Mr. Babyman around just whining about him?
How ***** pathetic is that?
Ah, I checked your profile and now I see.
You're just a sad little ***** who enjoys being an inconsiderate prick.
Good for you! It's important to have hobbies. - xyqxyq, on 02/08/2008, -0/+4I didn't know there'd be a test!
- jeremyduffy, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3My math professor used to tell me that art majors could hang a bucket of puke from a tree and get a degree.... You fill in the rest.
- Rhendal, on 02/08/2008, -1/+4I didn't say he was Zoolander. He could turn left, but could not progress to previous areas of the stage, hence not being able to go left.
- ilapko, on 02/08/2008, -1/+4No *****, sherlock.
- cuntmate99, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3i agree it's a pile of ***** and an insult to the awesomeness of mario
- GhostToon, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3Left?
- razorc03, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3I really hope this isn't the end result of us pirating games. Yikes!
- initramakdov, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3The background couldn't go left, that pretty much destroys his whole installation for me.
- psilentp, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2Cool concept, somewhat clumsy execution.
It's got nothing on PongMechanik:
http://cyberniklas.de/pongmechanik/indexen.html - cuntmate99, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2let's be honest. this is pretty *****
- necroalgae, on 02/08/2008, -2/+4Almost an instant digg, but sadly just lame. Enough explanation, just show us! ... wait nevermind.
- Netrilix, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2Interestingly enough, all of your examples started outside of a television screen. What's extreme about that? :-P
- Niubai, on 02/08/2008, -1/+3Seriously, what's the purpose of this ? If I had the knowledge of doing such mechanical things, I'd try to make things that would actually do something. In other hand, it seems like diggers would dugg down any comment criticizing Mario, even when it's something bad like this, so go ahead, you're my guest to dugg me down.
- supersteve, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1this is crap. i made something like this when I was 10. Its a ***** motor get over yourself
- monkeyboyhero, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Nice idea, but this really needs two video links - one about 20 seconds long that just shows the game, and then a second looooong 5 minute one that shows all the workings. I appreciate the effort, but I just want to see the thing in action - I don't need an explanation!
- LeeSoong, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1W00t !
I can't wait for Paper Quake V ! - wcarolyn, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Actually it was you who duped it... but at least you linked to the original page with more information.
- LyKwId, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1somebody get this guy a can of WD-40, my ears can't take the squeaking
- Klarth, on 02/08/2008, -4/+5"the only way this is related to Super Mario is the decoration"
And, well, that is kind of the point... - robbiev80, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1It takes 5 minutes for the mushroom to pop out of a question block...
- darny, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1oh my god. terribly lame.
"push right to make mario move right"
what was with that squeaking noise??? - dralezero, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1poop
- mfdave87, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1It's a good idea but a really week demonstration in the video. It looks unfinished (if all you do is hit one brick the entire time, then that's really lame). Also, the squeaking of the motors every time the TV moves would drive me nuts.
- GhostToon, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1WTF you can't go left in the real Super Mario Bros! I see a flaw!
- Ifligus, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1counterDOWN++;
My head hurts. - steveboutin, on 02/08/2008, -5/+5shut up man, cant you see that mario was the inspiration?
what is art without inspiration? - gutistg, on 02/08/2008, -2/+2Pinball machine.
- Username314, on 02/08/2008, -3/+3Why do we have a 2-minute, repetitive, irrelevant, boring explanation of how the thing works, and only get 10 seconds to actually see it in action?
Also notice how it states that when you press right, the screen scrolls right, and when you press left, the background moves right? Well that's an interesting idea. Sounds to me like the entire equipment will just keep moving right until it drills through a wall. - HueytheFreeman, on 02/08/2008, -2/+2I AM SPARTACUS
- clinton1550, on 02/08/2008, -1/+1Sure, why not?
- Lanefair, on 02/08/2008, -2/+1What a dissapointing article. I remember mechanical pong, it shat on this.
- hello2usir, on 02/08/2008, -16/+15You may as well just call this article "Controlling Pulleys with an Input Device" because the only way this is related to Super Mario is the decoration. The one thing that might have been even remotely interesting was the purported collision detection, but no real evidence of this was shown.
To call this thing the first physical "playable" implementation of Super Mario is like saying your Duncan yo-yo is the first playable implementation of Missile Command. I can admire the kid's curiosity and inventiveness but the article is making this out to be a lot more than what it is. Gonna have to bury this. - Klarth, on 02/08/2008, -2/+1Buried, but your comment history is pretty lulzworthy.
- spleen22, on 02/08/2008, -5/+4Nice concept but is a bit slow and boring. Yay for the music, anything is great with those bleeps going!
- mpritc3, on 02/08/2008, -1/+0this is supposed to be a step towards virtual reality gaming????? looks like a 4th grade science project
