- meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -6/+55Should be interesting to see if i get dugg down or not, but imho the N64 controller was one of the greatest controllers of all time.
- Azimuth1, on 10/11/2007, -1/+32"Nintendo Power -- which is really close friends with Nintendo"
It's *made* by Nintendo. - daRoach, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17The N64 controller was one of the greatest of all time, the only problem was the control stick wore out too fast. Call me crazy but I have one controller set aside, for occasional use, where the control stick still retains its original tension.
- Protoss, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15I sure don't. Wii was my FIRST Nintendo console...ever.
- caddyalan, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16Paper Mario 1 on VC would be nice. It was a relative highlight on the N64, and playing it without that awkward controller would be excellent.
- fredkreuger, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13*sigh*
- swavalier711, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9PAPERBOY! Where is it? Greatest NES game ever!
But I can see why Goldeneye would be on the top of the list... - G5Unit91, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8The main highlight I thought about Paper Mario was that the story went on for a very long time, so there was a ton of gameplay, plus after you beat the game, it was a collect a thon.
- daRoach, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Cheater.
- guitarh3ro, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Without a doubt Goldeneye...I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
- sych0, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12You didn't really need to add "original 64." People know what Paper Mario and the virtual console are. Not to mention "original 64" isn't even proper. It's like saying Microsoft 2000.
I mean really, do people just not proofread? That's a terrible headline. - deweyhewson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6No controller should ever be created that only allows you to use HALF of it at one time.
And I love my N64. - chugger1992, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Yes! I've been waiting for this. I've beat TTYD twice and SPM once, but I've never been fortunate enough to own the original.
- xPhasm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5YES! I lovedddd this game...even though I feel alone in that opinion. The new wii one isn't nearly as good however so I can't wait to get this.
- yugiohdan6, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4yeah, the wii games and about a quarter of the games on the virtual console...
- gekkjo, on 05/05/2009, -0/+4The Nintendo Power VC list should be taken with a grain of salt as far as a release window for new VC titles. Zelda 2 for the NES has been a top pick for at least a couple of months and hasn't been released.
- REBELinBLUE, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I just wish they'd hurry the hell up and release Super Paper Mario in Europe :(
- skywake, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4not to mention all of the GameCube games....
the industry moves fast but ten years is still ten years last time I checked
Super Mario 64 was only just over 10 years ago - Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Paper Mario (64) still goes for $29.99 and up pre-owned at the big name shops (Gamestop and EB Games), and the eBay prices shift around the same area. For $10 this might just be the first bargain-priced VC title.
- Broccoli, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4No id say the 64 controller was great for its time. Now i would say the newer controllers are way better. But the 64 controller was very good, at the time.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4I loved that game, though it took forever to get around.
- Tikkimann, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3What else is on this 'top picks' list?
- Mewchu11, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3No no no, they put out a potential release list of VC games every month with every issue, some of which get "top picks".
It's not just a wish list - johnkyoungoh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It's a glorified wish list. Nintendo is probably just trying to measure up the hype for this particular game.
Besides, they don't even have to bother with the Virtual Console at this moment; they're having a hard enough keeping
Wiis on shelves as is. - TheTjalian, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Golden Gun? Please, it's all about the Golden PP7! You DOMINATED with that gun.
- tsbardella, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I can go home and play this on my actual N64 console at home "if" I wanted to, and maybe I will - just to spite everyone who is soooooo excited about this. Humph
- rexCo, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3Xbox Live Arcade.
- fishbeef33, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3Goldeneye...Goldeneye...Goldeneye...
All I can remember from freshman year of college is running through virtual hallways with the Golden Gun. I loved that game. - BaconXBits, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Soon enough the people bitching about the dialogue from Super Paper Mario will migrate to this topic.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Crap. I read the title as Super Mario 64. Yeah, Paper Mario is something. That game was the *****, I remember I played that at my friend's house all one summer. Some of those timed button press attacks were really contrived.
- wangl3r, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3I agree totally. What a great game. "The Thousand Year Door" was also awesome, but what happened to "Super Paper Mario"? I was really disappointed with the lack of turn based combat. Don't think I'm a huge turn based combat fan, because (besides POKEMON), it's most often horribly boring. However, Paper Mario was awesome because the combat made you get into the game and pay attention. Plus, the characters were awesome, and the dialogue was hilarious.
- szembek, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Never heard of it.
- MeenMrMustard, on 10/11/2007, -5/+4Nintendo sure does know how to strike while the iron is hot. I'm sure a lot of people will be picking this one up to get a taste of what Paper Mario was really like before he got all Super on the Wii
- rexCo, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2Are you kidding me? Super Paper Mario came out a month ago. The iron is anything but hot right now.
- deweyhewson, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2This is one of the main reasons I sold my Wii. The only things to be excited about for it are re-releases of 10 year old games.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -12/+5This is all great news and all, but who seriously rather just get their N64 out of storage and play it as well as other hit games like Goldeneyes without the overpriced VC BS?
- crgnetworks, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2Hey welcome to 24 hours ago!
http://digg.com/nintendo_wii/Paper_Mario_coming_to_Virtual_Console - chuckamuck, on 10/11/2007, -14/+2Does the Wiii have any games that were made within the last 10 years??
- Wolfspirittt, on 10/11/2007, -15/+0Imagine this.. a computer with a piece of software that is able to emulate the Nintendo 64 (http://www.pj64-emu.com), a rom of the Paper Mario game, an S-video cable hooked up from your PC to your TV, and a USB controller. Top it off with a really cool front end for your N64 emulator (http://www.maximusarcade.com), and you have no need for the VC. I love the wii and have bought several wii and gamecube games for it in support for Nintendo... but I can already emulate the NES, SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, TG16, N64, GBA, NDS and more on my computer.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -21/+2Don't you Wii fanboys already have this for your Nintendo DS or your N64?
