- Fatcheeseguy, on 02/19/2008, -0/+29This device would also allow two-handed players to play one handed while holding/using something else....
- KaJuN4, on 02/19/2008, -4/+18Will the attachment come free with Wii Sports 2: Special Olympics?
/bad taste? - evanstapler, on 02/19/2008, -0/+11Hm, combine this with the Opera web browser for the Wii....
- steveoco, on 02/19/2008, -0/+11I have a mate who's sister was born without half an arm from th elbow down. She use to play playstation one and two with the single hand controller, it was great seeing that it did not keep her form joining in. I am all for accessibility in gaming :)
- goodhorsehymn, on 02/19/2008, -0/+9Fantastically bad taste!
- iannuttall, on 02/19/2008, -0/+9Although not what it was intended for, does this mean we can play the Wii AND drink beer at the same time? That's just fantastic!
- orijimi, on 02/19/2008, -0/+7Jesus, where do people learn to do this *****? It's spectacular.
- enclaved, on 02/19/2008, -1/+8Solution: Don't eat pancakes all day.
- steveoco, on 02/19/2008, -0/+6***** you, shes a beautiful girl, does not deserve that *****.
- capiCrimm, on 02/19/2008, -0/+5obviously it's a hotdog. Nothing like eating a big juicy one while burning caliories with the Wii.
- Flamekebab, on 02/19/2008, -0/+5steveoco, I know a girl like that as well. I was amazed how she still managed to play Mariokart 64 (and beat quite a few people!).
- Flame15, on 02/19/2008, -0/+4Who knows, maybe it could make ssbb EASIER to play, and the disabled would whoop up on all of us with regular wiimotes.
- stfucupcake, on 02/19/2008, -0/+4You 'sharply favor' the accidently handicapped over the genetically handicapped? wtf.
I don't think either one had much of a choice, bud. - hokie47, on 02/19/2008, -0/+3I can't tell you how many good times I have had at beer and Wii night with my friends. The Wii is not overrated.
- goodhorsehymn, on 02/19/2008, -0/+3I'd have thought the Wii, with its one handed remote design is already one of the most accessible consoles ever for people with physical disabilities, and this makes it even better! Good stuff.
- nywled, on 02/19/2008, -1/+4whoa.. cool!, but it would be pretty hard to play using this with a few games, like SSBB
- deadnoob, on 02/19/2008, -0/+3what an awesome friend.
- TheRealToma, on 02/19/2008, -0/+3This would be fantastic for kids in childrens hospitals. I may have to consider doing something like and donating a wiimote to my local kids hospital, as they have a Wii there.
- confusednazgul, on 02/19/2008, -0/+3That's really awesome. I have a friend who is missing her left arm from the elbow down, and we've talked about the need for controllers like this before because she really wants to be able to game again. It'd be nice if one-handed controllers could be commercially released. I bet there's a small but desperate market for them.
- JudgeMonkey, on 02/19/2008, -0/+2Can't it be both?
- JudgeMonkey, on 02/19/2008, -1/+3Yeah, heaven forbid he talk about her online like she is normal... apparently someone doesn't see her that way. Any other time someone mentions a female online everyone's mind jumps to the gutter. Should this be different? Biggot.
- Shrubber, on 02/19/2008, -0/+2Now he just needs one of Ben Heckendorn's prototype one-handed 360 controllers, and he'd be set!
- coollettuce, on 02/19/2008, -1/+3So you recently saw the film Idiocracy?
- misterhat, on 02/19/2008, -0/+2So genetically handicapped people should be sterilized or just not have kids?
- misterhat, on 02/19/2008, -0/+2You could also apply the same logic to advocate never leaving your house or doing anything that has teh remote chance of making you handicapped.
- zointax, on 02/19/2008, -1/+3Why? It's not like you can use the Nunchuck to do anything in the browser.
- veeblefetzer, on 02/19/2008, -0/+2Speak for yourself.
- WernerCD, on 02/19/2008, -0/+2An old acquaintance of mine from a church I attended near LA was like that. Born with no arms/hands. Amazing to watch her drive and then whoop up on sat the Arcade (Some Skate Boarding game and then a Jurassic Park type game where you actually sit with enough room for her to maneuver with her feet)
- deadnoob, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1luckily there are some games (bowling, golf, etc.) for the wii that only use one hand.
- coyote1284, on 02/19/2008, -1/+2Feed the trolls, toppins, toppins, toppins a bag!
- JudgeMonkey, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1It's not a helmet attachment. it's a physical disability, bright light. Of course your statement is still true, since you'll be playing with yourself invariably and your reading comprehension tells so much.
- girlpirate, on 02/19/2008, -1/+2now, did he do it because he wanted his friend to be able to play or because he thought it was a good excuse to Frankenstein up a Wii-mote?
- Klarth, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1Playing Smash with anything other than a GCN controller seems a tad cumbersome anyhow.
(N64's pad was pretty slick for its day, though.) - PresidentGas, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1Now they don't have to avoid having wiis at the amputee center on my street. Before it was kind of awkward when the doctor were showing them how to play....
- WernerCD, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1Or it's like opinions are like *****... everyone has one and most stink. Sounds like most fanboys as well... full of ***** and full of stink.
I like the Wii. Decent games and not the same crap + slightly better graphics. I plan on getting a PS3 when FF or similar RPG games worth having appear on it as well. It's all about the games, and every system has their set. - misterhat, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1But that isnt always the case.
This whole idea is insanely stupid. How the hell does bob the builder know what it is like to be handicapped? How the hell can he comment if a disabled life is worth living or not.
How does that genius propose we deal with recessive genetic disorders?
fwiw i was disabled in an accident. - Treshnell, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1Exactly the opposite for me. I hate the GCN controller for Smash Bros. I much prefer the N64 controller.
- coyote1284, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1Three words: Super Swing Golf. One hand play. Add beer and it feels like you are on the links without having to walk/ride to the ball.
- DoubleTap84, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1Mitch Hedberg FTW The fine diggers above me that clearly do not get out enough can suck it. (OTOH this is a pretty poor application of a classic joke)
- heysuburbia, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1Direct link:
http://rmculy.iweb.bsu.edu/web/wii.swf - cmgonzalez, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1These kinds of advances are awesome. Accessibility in gaming is an issue that I'm highly interested in, and seeing these sorts of projects that create more opportunity for the disabled to enjoy games always makes me happy. My mother has MS, and it has, unfortunately, impeded her gaming, in large part due to controller complexity.
- deaftly, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1Yeah because that whole 2 hand thing is really that hard.
- BTime, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1I've had a one-handed wiimote for as long as I can remember
- rnnbob, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1with the control nub in the middle. it hurt my hands with the spinning. ***** Mario party.
- Bronz, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1Oh yeah! I bet no one had realised that until you said it.
- jgzman, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1He refers simply to the fact that if I have a no-arm genetic mutation, my kids will (probably) also have a no-arm mutation. If, on the other hand, My arm gets chopped off in an accident, my kids will (probably) have arms.
- baranica, on 02/19/2008, -0/+0Well you could play multiplayer games by yourself using 2 modded controlers ;P
- Myztry, on 02/19/2008, -3/+3If anything the comment was poking fun at your motives. Not that they are inherently wrong. Relax.
I sincerely hope that despite her imperfection that people will find her desirable so as to be compelled to do things for her in order to increase the likely hood of mating. Such desires and actions are actually complementary. -
