- atomicpoet, on 10/16/2007, -0/+69I, for one, am quite offended that you'd imply these people are "challenged" when, in point of fact, they are merely "chronologically elapsed". You'll be hearing from my lawyers on Friday.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+64"Old people" is politically incorrect, it should say "Age challenged".
- atomicpoet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+36We all know the REAL trash talk starts when Cooking Mama is inserted into the disc drive. Grandma wants to bake her cookies. And you will LIKE it -- or else!
- EmperorAnton, on 10/10/2007, -1/+33That is so cool, I have to get my Grandmother to try Wii bowling. I actually tried it for the first time several weeks ago. I can see how it would benefit them, since they are moving, but don't have to worry about the weight of a ball.
- mmmcookies, on 10/10/2007, -2/+26That makes me very sad for you.
- tuxidomasx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24i hope they target everybody. video games shouldnt just be for certain people
- tekrat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22Let me know when Wii shuffle board comes out.
- Pimpalicious316, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19i believe technically it would be "Youth Challenged" or "Age Gifted"
- crimson117, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17That'd actually be pretty sweet!
Wii Sports - Traditional Edition. With shuffleboard, badminton, minigolf... - T8erT0T, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16Man, I can't wait to retire and start Wii-hustling through retirement homes. Forget a pension, 50 bucks a game.
- morsu, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17looks straight from Espn 8 - "El Ocho"
- pacmangamer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17That is very cool.....The only thing they are missing are the chips and some kind of energy drink.
- bitmanx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Keeps them off the roads...
- MagicalTrevor2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14This has "The Ocho" written all over it-narrator and all!
- Hermitwise, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Direct Link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pzp8S_7yspM
- ericdigg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13My grandparents just love Wii bowling and tennis. Great job to Nintendo for finally bringing out a video game console that the whole family can have fun with.
- ursername180, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Cool vid. I know for a fact that there is a home in Bribie Island, Australia which does the same. So it's quite popular I'm assuming.
- rdoger6424, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11If only there was voice chat and online multiplayer in CMCO. The trash talk would be insane.
"Lasagna BITCH!!!"
"Dude the microwave is such a noob appliance"
"OMG HE JUST INGREDIENT HACKED WTF" - whymanwhy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Go Otto "six pack" Reeves!!!
- bobartig, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Just like real bowling. If you bowl regularly for about a year, you'll be picking up spares all over the place. I had a roommate who had basically never bowled, but he took bowling for a semester and could on occasion net a score in the high 200s. Bowling is a sport where the difference between an enthusiast and a pro is a relatively small percentage additional consistency (unlike say, football or basketball where a pro is ungodly compared to an enthusiast). But to get that added consistency, you need to master the game, and that's what makes pros.
- cramd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9This is nothing. You should see them on Halo 3 night.. that is when the real trash talk comes out..
/sarcasm
This is the great thing that the wii has done - crossed the non-gamer gap. I think my father in-law would be happy to head off to a home if it meant that he would have better wii bowling competition than he sees at my house. - fotbr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I'd buy it.
- djpants428, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8What is up with the site questioning if it was staged or not? Maybe they were fed some lines, but it seems pretty realistic. Also, they are really playing Wii Bowling, have team shirts and nicknames. If it is not real, they sure went to a lot of trouble to fake it, more so than having an actual Wii Bowling tournament.
- kjk437, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8"You got served!"
- CannedMango, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7It's hard for video games to accurately reflect a sport that requires a lot of precision, like darts, billiards or bowling. Everyone gets the same advantage and disadvantage though, so it's still balanced.
- CailaCrayola, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Awww, it's always nice to see older people having a good time. Cute.
- Br0wn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Does that include Lemon party?
- Sawta, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I love how people didn't get the subtle humor of your joke.
- lharrod, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7"Age Enhanced" or "Age Advanced."
- Saiing, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It's entertaining, but as for being staged - of course it is. They're real old folks and they probably live in that home, but you can see that they've been coached on how to act out their roles by the production company. The first guy who does the "you got served" line looks like he doesn't even really know what it means. Nice ad for the old folks home's company though. But it's just a bit of fun, so who cares.
- pox05, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5their miis are awesome!
- Sp0rAdiC, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Have you ever played Wii bowling? You can point what direction you're going to bowl in, but the spin and force that the ball moves with is entirely dependent on how you move the remote during the swing.
- sleepless, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5that's awesome :-)
ESPN 8 - The Ocho. - Discobiscuits, on 10/16/2007, -1/+5Where's the beer?
- DannySpace, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4OMG, now I can't wait to be old! The fear is gone!
- bobartig, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4They already have the touch generation, which shows elderly couples playing sudoku and brainage on their DS lites. And yes, their printed ad copy for family oriented titles like "Big Brain Academy Wii" showcases gamers from 8 to 80 all having a good time together. They beat you to it by like a year.
- JonTheGoose, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Beats playing bingo
- bheilig, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Sweet, one of the bowlers is named Margaret Simpson. Unfortunately she doesn't have large blue hair. Oh, and the tournament started in Springfield.
- Noiremorte, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That's awesome. My grandparents can one up all those old foagies though. Most tech savvy people I know over 60, hell, over most people, and they're approaching 80.
- DRGinLBC, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3What's next, lawn bowling?
- andre4u, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Otto was just so damn cute! Definitely my favorite of the bunch.
- 1upgamer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Nintendo finally hitting that untapped market potential.
- roebeet, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5My grandmother passed away when I was in my early 20's (which was many, many years ago). I would gladly give a year's salary to play one game of Wii bowling with her.
You never really know what you have, until it's gone. - wetard57, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Bob Kaplan looks like dave thomas
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Paying $30,000 (and he probably makes a better salary than I do) for one night with your grandma is a little weird.
- desqjockey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2yes because you know who is so politically correct: old people.
- asdfuiop, on 10/21/2007, -0/+2Damn kids, get off Mii lawn!
- sleepwalkers, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3It's a big advertisement for what looks to be a "chain" of old folks homes spread across the US.
- BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -3/+5I have trouble imagining there is much room for competition in this game. It's near impossible to not get at least a spare everytime.
- Genjeta, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3There was nothing subtle about it.
