- shawns, on 12/04/2008, -1/+42Can it make phone calls now?
- MikeSetera, on 12/04/2008, -2/+40DSs are easier to hack than cardboard boxes.
- kangy3213, on 12/04/2008, -3/+38Adding real functionality to the DS? Alright i'm in.
- TheBlueVulcan, on 12/04/2008, -0/+27Doubtful--everyone still remembers the original Gameboy, and that model's been defunct for over a decade.
- Dauntless1, on 12/05/2008, -1/+27I mean, a video game system that plays video games? What are these people, in the dark ages?
- Butters757, on 12/04/2008, -0/+21No, but it prints money now!
- pirlok, on 12/04/2008, -3/+22finally, i was expecting this from some time
- Benno, on 12/04/2008, -2/+17"The Acekard 2i lets gamers play illegally downloadable DS titles"
and homebrew.
The best app I have on my r4ds is Colors (http://colors.collectingsmiles.com/), a simple tablet paint program.Of course most people use their r4s exclusivly for piracy; too bad since this leads to crippled hardware and drm for everyone. - badenglishihave, on 12/05/2008, -1/+15omg I got a package last month and I can't open it can you help me??
- iofthestorm, on 12/05/2008, -0/+13Also has WPA support and 4 times as much RAM, although those specs don't get listed much. Might even have a faster CPU but Nintendo doesn't mention those things.
- Broomie, on 12/04/2008, -0/+12How unexpected...
- kefkaantakrist, on 12/05/2008, -0/+12It is smaller, with a bigger screen and a camera. The big selling point is that it can play Wii Ware-style downloadable games and comes with some memory to store them.
- gp_aaron, on 12/05/2008, -2/+13Why is it when people think of flashcards, piracy or homebrew for the DS they think of the R4? It is in no way the first flashcard and it is in no way the best one. CycloDS for example has DLDI patching, support SDHC cards, have one of the best in game menus I have seen, allow for full DS download play support, and slow-motion.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS_storage_d ... - Elranzer, on 12/05/2008, -2/+13On Digg, all Linux is Ubuntu, all phones are the iPhone, all laptops are Macbooks, all Jokers are the Heath Ledger version, and all torrent sites are ThePirateBay.
In other words, Digg is fantasy land, and people don't like being reminded about reality. - HolyChimp, on 12/05/2008, -0/+9Hmmm, yeah...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GP2X - cowsgoquack101, on 12/05/2008, -0/+9*****, I'll take one.
- Defiant001, on 12/04/2008, -3/+11In a decade no one will be using an IPhone or DS, most won't even remember them.
- iofthestorm, on 12/05/2008, -0/+8Umm... the DS already sells like hotcakes. What's your point?
There is the Pandora, but that's not going to get much commercial game support. - iofthestorm, on 12/05/2008, -4/+12People are probably digging you down because there are plenty of good games coming out for DS, and they're tired of idiots complaining about lack of games when they don't even bother to look for games. Obviously if you aren't playing your PSP or DS you aren't really a handheld gamer so they aren't for you, or you just aren't trying to find good games.
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -0/+7yeah the GP2X has been out for years, runs linux and no one bought it.
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -1/+8I didn't digg you down but there are some pretty decent games that come out every few weeks. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia was pretty good. I haven't checked release date charts lately but I'm sure something fun will pop up soon :\
- hungryduck, on 12/04/2008, -0/+7Not a pirate...
- Archer007, on 12/04/2008, -1/+7Someone needs to port Skype to it.
- BlueSkyfish, on 12/05/2008, -1/+7You can't be troubled to take a trip to IGN and read some reviews?
Here you go:
http://buyersguide.ign.com/2008/ds/ - removesstains, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6Good
- Target91, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6What took so long?
- IrvineS2K, on 12/05/2008, -0/+62 Etrian Odyssey games
3 Castlevania games
2 Dragon Quest Monsters games
Lots of remakes (not just ports, but actually remakes)
etccccccccccccccccccccc - hordak, on 12/05/2008, -1/+7Of course, Kingdom Hearts next Feb. Good games ALREADY on a DS: Ninja Gaiden, Phoenix Wright series, New Super Mario Bros., Metroid, N+, Castlevania series, etc. Finally, check out the FREE Staying Alive game based on Portal; of course, you need of them cards to play it.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 12/05/2008, -0/+6Use the sharp corner of an R4 card :)
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -1/+7I agree it's pretty pointless.
- ChileanGoD, on 12/05/2008, -0/+5There are none... sell me your DS for 40$.
- shamanking911, on 12/05/2008, -2/+7Chrono Trigger
- compgeek, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5Time to go buy myself another DS. God I miss my old one
- Elranzer, on 12/05/2008, -1/+6Just, not for free. The device fixes the free part.
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -0/+5R4 sales have been exponentially higher than any other flash card. By the time Cyclo came out the homebrew scene already sort of died out or moved to PSP development or everyone already had a flashcard to play pirated roms. I know about 20 other people with flash cards and no one bought a Cyclo, not saying its a bad card, just too late on the scene
- tecmoney, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5anymore it's like, am I supposed to still be impressed that its been hacked? everything these days gets hacked as soon as or before it comes out, big deal.
- lecturethis, on 12/05/2008, -1/+5LOL they have got this all wrong. This is just another example of a long list of epic fails for manufacturers trying to enhance security on a product.
They need to change their business model, games are just too small and portable. And hell there is an online crew that is organizing games chronologically so people can ensure they download every game every made. - inactive, on 12/05/2008, -1/+5tecmoney, could you hack the DS?
thought so. - ryansimbalist, on 12/05/2008, -0/+4come on... really.
- BlueSkyfish, on 12/05/2008, -0/+4It could for over a year now.
http://voiptelephonyservice.blogspot.com/2007/09/n ... - smrekar, on 12/05/2008, -0/+4genius I read - Awekward is the new R4DS
thinking Ackbar was making fun of the DS looking like R2D2. Then I read the article. - brain3000us, on 12/05/2008, -2/+6That handheld would also have more crap put out on it than the Wii currently has. Unregulated game content was partly responsible for the Video Game Crash in the US. Yea, there were some decent games, but they were drowned out by the crappy games.
There would have to be some stopgap, like what Microsoft is doing with XNA Community Games and the approval system, to keep the truly crappy from flooding the forefront. - moocow1452, on 12/05/2008, -1/+5Wait, I'm new to the whole Homebrew scene, but doesn't this thing have a built in SD reader? Couldn't we just have some equivalent of the "Twilight Hack" and not have to buy a specialized piece of hardware?
- Elranzer, on 12/05/2008, -0/+4The R4DS has been dethroned for some time. It doesn't support SDHC, and the R4 company stopped issuing updates for it nearly a year ago.
Surpassed by M3, CycloDS and others. - Renton, on 12/05/2008, -0/+4In the past year:
Chrono Trigger DS
Advance Wars Days of Ruin
Apollo Justice
Contra 4
Geometry Wars Galaxies
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2
The World Ends With You
Kirby Superstar
N+
Nanostray 2
Advance Wars Days of Ruin has to be one of my favorite games of all time. I got it back in January and still find myself playing it from time to time. - evilesttoast, on 12/05/2008, -1/+4Chrono Trigger just came out, with added stuff, so its not a complete port.
- mywhitenoise, on 12/05/2008, -5/+8To the people digging me down, could you answer the ***** question?
- honeymustardn, on 12/05/2008, -1/+4Yeah that worked great with the PSP, right? ...right?
- reyoo30309, on 12/05/2008, -0/+3Well, what are you still stand there for? Get started.
- Treshnell, on 12/05/2008, -0/+3Took them a long time to make any progress on hacking the PS3. Still haven't gotten very far with it, as far as I know...
